The job ended up being more involved than expected. He had to chisel out the strike plate for the new lock, which took extra time and even required him to go buy a new set of chisels. He also drilled a new hole and attempted to install a new lock on the interior door, but the door is older and quirky, so the new hardware wouldn’t sit right. He reinstalled the original knob, which now has a slight gap, but the deadbolt works — it just needs to be positioned just right. I’ll need to fill in a bit of trim with wood filler, but overall the functionality is there and I’m satisfied with the result.
I’m giving 4 stars because Braydan was a bit disorganized. He left his drills behind and had to come back for them, left metal debris in the garage that I ended up sweeping, and didn’t remove the protective coating on the interior lock, so it looked white instead of the gold finish that matches the knob. He was also distracted by a co-worker calling him with an issue on another job.
That said, he was friendly, hardworking, and clearly committed to getting the job done despite the challenges. I would absolutely call on him again for future lock work in my home. Thank you, Braydan!
