Amazing! Mark has a phenomenal knowledge of music theory, the fretboard and can verbally convey those ideas in a way I can understand. I cannot say enough about him. Working w mark has refueled my passion for music, and you cannot beat the value!
I began my formal guitar instruction with Gareth and was glad I had. Gareth is a very knowledgable instructor who understands music theory. The lessons combined a mixture of learning new songs of my choice and also learning the theory behind what I was playing. Gareth was also very flexible if I had any scheduling problems. I am happy to have had instruction through Gareth and only discontinued my lessons because I moved out of state.
Very quick to respond to my messages. She was very patient with my son. He was so happy to be able to play two simple songs with just one lesson.
I am an adult learner who is trying to learn how to play the piano. Son Yong is an excellent instructor and she tailors each lesson to match my skill level and my interest in music. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for piano lessons.
My daughter just started lessons however she is very excited to work with her instructor again. The structure of her lesson was great!!
Wayne is extremely knowledgeable of piano theory and equally skilled in practice. I met him at my friend's wedding where he was performing. Specifics of my experience: Pros: --He was very knowledgeable, instantly spotting and describing the theory and reasing behind a piece's choice of Key, Chord Progressions, Tempo, Dynamics, etc. --His ability with the piano is astonishing, which he used from time to time to different ends for a more interactive teaching experience. --His ear for music allows him to always ready to correct when melodies or chords are misplayed. --He is very personable, which made for ease of discussion, correction, and learning. --He was flexible with rescheduling due to my recent excessive work loads. Cons: --As with any teacher with great talent, there were times that the gap of skill impeded the ability to relate the proper instruction. Other: --This is listed as "Other", mostly because I do not believe it would be fair to label it as a "Con". As an engineer, my mind is very much hard wired to analyze the details of all things. For instance, everyone knows what a C Major chord looks like, and for most people, just seeing it and repeating it is fine. For me, I like to know WHY a C Major chord is a C Major chord. Telling me "That's just the way it is" is not good enough for me. For simpler instances like the C Major chord, Wayne could explain the "why", but there were times that he would dismiss things as "You just need to know that this is what this is." He definitely knew of my desire to know the details, so maybe in those cases he did not want me to bog me down with needless theory at my level of skill. I do not know, but sometimes I would have liked a little more explanation of the sometimes mystical music theory. To summarize, all in all I enjoyed my time with Wayne, and I wish I had more time to devote to practice. I'm sure that if I mentioned the "cons" to Wayne that he would make an effort to adjust, because I believe he cares deeply for music and his students. I definitely noticed an improvement after having lessons with him.
I took voice and piano lessons from David for a period of about three years and always found him to be encouraging, reliable, and meticulous in his work, not to mention the fact that he is an absolute expert in his field as well as an outstanding performer. He meets you at your individual level and helps you select music that challenges you to grow as a musician even as it suits your ability at the time. He then pinpoints areas where you could improve, giving you helpful feedback and personal exercises tailored to addressing those areas where you could become better. He also gives you valuable coaching on all aspects of performance, including tips on your carriage, how to show emotion, and phrasing the music to name a few. I would enthusiastically recommend taking lessons from him whether you are interested in recreational lessons or becoming a professional performer. He will inspire you to reach beyond what you thought you'd be able to do and help you to reach your goals.
I am a guitar/voice student with Bart at Reno's and he's great! I call him "The Song Doctor" because he revives songs I bring in with technique and great ideas! He is an amazing guitarist and patient teacher, even when I struggle. He knows music theory well and can teach this knowledge in an understandable and interesting way. Lessons are fun and non intimidating. Reno's Music is cool and I always feel welcome.
Miriam has taught piano to our two daughters, one older with more musical experience and the other younger and just starting out. She has done a great job with both, and is consistently informative and encouraging. They are developing skills at a strong pace, and always seem to enjoy their lessons. Miriam is also very professional about billing, scheduling and keeping track of each student's status.
Looking for a classical guitar teacher? Look no further. I started to study with Sulai during my college years at Indiana University where he was started the Guitar Department. His lessons went beyond the guitar and still impact me today as a player and professionally. As much as he is an incredible artist that has played all over the world, he is infinitely more than that as teacher. He excels at getting to the foundation of your playing and guiding you to develop into the player that you want to be. After college, I lost touch and moved to the west cost, but continued to play. With the advent of Skype, I have been taking weekly lessons over the internet for the last 8 years and could not be happier. You will be hard pressed to find a teacher of this caliber anywhere at any price. Please do yourself a favor and take a lesson or two. That was my initial plan of course and now 20 plus years later I am still taking weekly lessons.
My granddaughters have been receiving piano and voice lessons for several years. They continually improve and love it! The enjoy participating in the plays and showcases and the family always has a great time when attending the extra activities, also.
Sabrina is teaching piano to my Kindergarten-aged twins. She is great with young kids and their parents. She's very flexible with her teaching, willing to adapt to the style that fits them best. The lessons have included a conga drum to learn keeping time, as well as opening up the piano to show how the inside works. The learning environment in her home is very relaxing, and helps to calm my very energetic boys. When my boys do get distracted, she can effectively rein them back in or use their curiosity as a teachable moment when appropriate.
He is very patient, and he has lots of experience teaching guitar. He can customize his class for different students.
He was very accommodating with my schedule and was able to follow along with his lesson plans. Very responsive as well when I entered in my request.
I feel that my welcoming personality and enthusiasm for sharing what I know are two things that set me apart from others.
