I hired Lisa to clean our one bedroom apartment prior to us moving out. Lisa did a fantastic job and went above and beyond. I have hired her for previous services such as car detailing and dog sitting and have never been disappointed. Lisa is very tedious in her work and we will definitely be calling again!

The girls were able to help me out over Thanksgiving with less than a week's notice! They set up a time for an intro to meet me/my pet, go through an initial checklist and questions/requests, and then they texted me an update each day!

Maura from Urban Tails was great. She groomed my 10 month old puppy for his first time and she did an amazing job. He is sometimes hard to keep calm and it's been difficult finding someone I was comfortable leaving him with, but Maura made him feel right at home instantly. She even sent me a video of him while I was away to assure me everything was going well! Not to mention, he came out looking more handsome than ever before! I highly recommend Maura to anyone needing a groomer.

Francie watched 5 dogs in our house and did a fabulous job. She loves dogs. She kept us well-informed and shared pictures of their adventures. I would definitely ask her to dog sit again.

Emily is THE best. After 30+ years I just became a cat mom again. I had never used a cat sitter before but we were going on vacation for 10 days and I needed to make sure my baby was well taken care of. Emily gave me updates, along with photos, at least once a day. She will do other things too, such as taken in your mail, if requested. She even helped me take care of a minor issue with our security system WiFi during one visit. She is 100% dependable and 200% trustworthy. She made me feel like our kitty Tabitha was the center of the universe. (Which she kind of is! ). It is just so reassuring to have someone knowledgeable, caring, and dependable in charge when you cant be there.

Cailee has been house sitting and dog sitting for my family for years. We think she is exceptional with pets and she keeps our house nice and clean each time! We no longer need to look for a dog sitter or a house sitter ever again because Cailee will be our permanent choice!

Antoinette made herself available very last minute as another pet sitter pulled a no-call, no-show. She was able to meet with us, meet our pups, and take great care of them within a days notice. Can't express how amazing and grateful we are.

    About

I have always loved animals and have been caring for them since I was a child. I grew up on a farm and always had dogs and cats and also registered hampshire hogs and cattle. I have had the experience of volunteering with a local veterinarian to help rescue feral cats. Most of the time, we would use cages with food inside to catch them, but also used a trapping cage for the "more wild" cats. These animals were taken to a clinic, spayed/neutered and given homes. I kept 10 of these cats, and they have a very happy home and are a part of our family! I also have a Yorkipoo who is two years old. I am interested in pet sitting, dog walking, or any other service involving animals.

    About

I enjoy animals, especially dogs, and I get joy out of walking and/or playing with them. I also do not mind picking up droppings and general maintenance.

    About

I have a schnauzer and a three-legged Chihuahua, and I absolutely adore them. My schnauzer always comes to me whenever I feel sad, and he is probably my best friend. I have done babysitting for children, but I have never done any pet sitting other than with my own pets. However, taking care of animals would be my dream job because it would not feel like a job at all. For me walking my dog, taking care of him, and playing with him is not a chore. Also, I am open to taking care of all kinds of animals. If you are interested in having a responsible and loving person help with you pets, please contact me!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

    • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
    • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
      • 45-minute visit: $28.
      • 60-minute visit: $32.
    • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
    • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
      • 12 hours: $100.
      • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32.
