I have taken Gentle Yoga with Asya at Sun & Moon for years. When I heard that she was offering a more personalized therapeutic class, I jumped at the chance to address my particular problems -- back issues, bad knee, Morton's neuroma in my toes -- all things that made some yoga poses very challenging for me. It was wonderful to have her focus on my issues, and she helped me develop a personal practice to work on these things. Her gentle and encouraging voice, strong knowledge of anatomy, and inventive teaching style made it pleasurable as well as useful.
I explained the issues I was having with my hip and what I wanted to achieve and she created a plan that positively impacted my mind and body. In the short time we've practiced together, my flexibility has greatly improved and I have less hip/joint pain. I appreciate her knowledge of the body, her passion for the lifestyle, and the patience and care that she shows when she's teaching. Focus. Breathe. Be kind to your body! These will be my mantras for life.
Nicole is amazing. Her credentials say she is a certified fitness trainer and yoga instructor, and she is every bit of that. She is a master of her crafts. But she is way more. She is a coach, confidant, motivator, and most of all, a gifted healer. As a physician, I know a healer when I encounter one. I feel so blessed to have invited Nicole to help me with my journey. After just a few weeks of being tortured by Nicole (nobody says health and fitness are easy) I am in my best shape in years. If I learn some of her amazing communication and motivational skills, she may make me a better doctor as well.
Mark Goldfarb has been my trainer since 1999 and Ive probably been with him the longest of his clients. He is professional in our relationship but also a very caring person. He has researched ways to help train me when I have had an injury or surgery. He has much patience and a way of pushing me when Im not motivated. He is responsive when I have told him that I am unusually sore after a session, adjusting the weights accordingly, and usually spending more time on that muscle. I have sworn that I will never be able to do a certain thing he wants me to do and slowly but surely, I will get there. I like the fact that he uses lots of different approaches to training the same muscle group. It is not only a good way of doing it, but it keeps the workouts from getting boring. Besides the weight machines , he uses bands, bosu balls, straps, discs and a variety of other resources to train. Not only is he interested in building my strength, but increasing my flexibility and balance. In addition, he is a certified yoga instructor and includes many yoga positions in my workouts. This has definitely increased my flexibility. In short, I would highly recommend him as a personal trainer.
Kelly is a gifted and powerful energy healer. I have experienced healing sessions with 20 or more energy healers and she has the strongest energy of any of them. She is also an outstanding yoga teacher. She is kind and extremely intelligent. I can't say enough good things about her and her abilities.
I have had a life long aversion to Yoga - from the days of watching my mom do her yoga routines to the mushrooming of Yoga in to multitudes of flavors and being the cool thing to do. Also, bending and stretching my body in to multiple scary looking poses was not my idea of relaxing/workout/finding my inner self/ etc. But having been learned and practiced yoga with Gaurav has completely changed that for me. He is the epitome of what a true yoga instructor/guru should be. He help me confront my prejudices/ fears of yoga with a calm and balanced approach by gently introducing me to the various poses and breathing techniques! He was aware of my limitations and worked with that so that I gradually became comfortable with all the breathing exercises and asanas without heading to the door! Not to say that I did not feel the physical pains of using my body and muscle groups in new ways, but the "high" at the end of each session was worth the effort. I looked forward to my next session at the end of each session! Gaurav is well versed in all the techniques and shares his knowledge in easy to follow steps. I highly recommend him as an instructor especially if you have never done yoga before or are not sure on what the correct techniques are. For the experienced yogis, Gaurav would be a perfect coach to take your training to the next level. His knowledge of food options to go along with the yoga routines was very helpful too!
Christine is awesome! Exactly as advertised. She has a wonderful energy. Able to do guided meditation as well as yoga and breathing exercises.
Rebecca is a wonderful yoga instructor. She is so kind, knowledgeable and really puts you at ease. She was able to tailor a yoga session specifically for my mom and I who have varying yoga experience and different problem areas. I couldn’t be happier with Rebecca as a yoga instructor, anyone would be thrilled after having a class with her!
If I could give her 6 stars I would! I am a tennis teaching professional and my job is very physical. During the last few years I had been experiencing injury after injury which was taking all the enjoyment out of my work. Corey is actually one of my students and she encouraged me to try Yoga with her. I was skeptical at first and thought Yoga was for "other people ". I could not have been more wrong! After one session with Corey I could tell this is exactly what I needed. I have been working with Corey for the last 6 months and I feel 20 years younger! Corey is not only a fantastic Yogini. She is incredibly knowledgeable and well versed in many schools of physical fitness. Like Pilates, Cross Fit, TRX?? She knows it all. Incredibly, her expertise does not stop there. Corey is also a walking repository of nutritional information. Going to Corey is a great value, she just knows so much and is so willing to help! In conclusion, the other thing I like and admire about Corey is that she practices what she preaches. She is in great shape and an athlete herself. As an athlete, that's important to me. I highly recommend you give her a try. You will be glad you did!!
Melissa is an amazing person and amazing yoga teacher, shiatsu masseuse and more. She is very skilled, supportive and constantly changing up class so that clients can go to her classes for years and constantly improve and evolve. I cannot recommend her enough!
I hired Hillary on behalf of my sister, who lives in the DC metro area, as I suspected she would benefit from regular reformer pilates sessions comparable to what I do in London. I was impressed by the speed at which she replied and the effort she took to tailor her reply to my request. This is what my sister says about the sessions: "Hillary is great at not only helping with fitness goals, but overall life goals. Stress and other lifestyle factors matter a lot, as medical studies have shown. So, while Hillary can help you with your fitness goals, she can also help you with achieving an overall sustainable, healthy lifestyle. Highly recommend!" Since writing this, my sister has continued to rave about the workouts, plus the sports massage and stretches that she does as part of her sessions. So give her a try!
A nice little studio, with a friendly, relaxing atmosphere. There are several different types of classes available, and the instruction is thorough, and you are never pressured to do beyond what your level is. It's yoga for you, the way you want to experience it.
I came to Connie seeking to improve my flexibility and range of motion in an effort to avoid pain and injuries in sports that I play. She was not only very helpful from a training standpoint, but her knowledge and suggestions were also very helpful. She also introduced me to yoga, something I've never really considered doing, and I feel it has done a lot for my body. I've had shoulders issues for awhile now, and I've felt significantly less pain in my shoulder while playing sports after training with Connie.
Lisa gives an incredible, focused massage. She takes the time to ask you what trouble areas you want to address and how. Excellent. Can't wait until my next visit.
I offer different styles of yoga depending on your needs and wants. I’ve worked with seniors doing chair yoga, and children’s yoga as well as prenatal.
Rather than offering group yoga classes, I primarily focus on one-on-one private Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy sessions and 8 Week Mindfulness & Grief groups, as well as drop in meditation classes. Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy is done one-on-one in a confidential environment. To begin, I lead you through a guided meditation to help you set an intention or goal for the session. Then I gently move and stretch you while you relax on the fluffy mat - honoring your own body's needs and limits. At the end of the session, I lead you through another guided meditation, which allows you to reflect on how the session relates to your life. Then you are invited to set an "action step" to do outside of the session, which will help you take a step towards your initial goal. It may be to relax, to heal from grief, or family and career related goals. I have been giving sessions since 2003, and offer a satisfaction guarantee. If you don't like the session, you don't pay. (No one has ever had to take me up on this!) I am the author of Mindfulness & Grief, which is based on the 8 week group that I created and facilitate. The program also includes a day long retreat halfway through the program, and is open to bereaved people who have lost a loved one to death.
I offer vinyasa flow yoga instruction, prenatal yoga instruction, Thai, table, prenatal, sports and deep tissue massage.

I am certified through Yoga Alliance (200Hr RYT), and have been practicing Vinyasa style yoga for more than 7 years. I work with students in both group and private settings to build and grow their practice, and to find happiness in their practice! I also have my Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) group exercise certification. My own personal experiences with yoga and dance drive me to introduce others to the amazing interconnectedness and sense of peace that can be found with regular yoga practice. We can all benefit from having better awareness of our bodies, while building strength and balance to help us through our daily lives.
Fit & Flow provides Thai massage also known as Lazy Man's Yoga and private yoga sessions. The yoga sessions are Christ focused, with a foundational scripture for each session. Thai massage which is performed on the floor on a mat with the client fully clothed is great for those recovering from an injury and looking to improve their range of motion or simply as a complement to your exercise regime. This massage is very inactive yet relaxing.
I've been doing yoga on and off for the last 15 years and Kate is one of my favorite instructors in DC. I've been taking classes with her since she started her instruction at CorePower. She has a great energy, which makes even the most challenging of classes fun. The way a class or flow sequence is queued is important to me and Kate's instruction is easy to follow. I've been in classes that have a mix of skill levels and she makes an effort to be sure that everyone gets the most from their respective practice. I also like that she's really committed to her own practice and advancement as a yogi and an instructor. Great, great yoga instructor!
