Ms. Belle has tutored my twins since September 2016. She is great with them and they love working with her. I have seen significant improvements in my kids' written ability in terms of clarity, volume, flow, and style. They are in the 5th Grade AAP Level IV program in FCPS and are now comfortable constructing multiple paragraphs to express their ideas or tell a story. My daughter is especially confident and excited in her writing since working with Ms. Belle. My son's ability to write about his passion for sports has soared. The effort is reflected in the last two report cards and in the grades that they receive on their language arts projects. I highly recommend Ms. Belle as a language arts tutor and we will continue to engage her services.

Attending the professors class was a wonderful experience as she is passionate about what she teaches in her sign language classes. I think the lessons were easy to follow and she encourages her students and definitely wants her students to learn. She is a patient and understanding individual and devotes her time and attention to her profession. Anyone whether seasoned or novice will benefit from her expertise. I thoroughly enjoyed having her as a teacher and can't wait to take more classes from her. She meets you where you are and encourages/helps all who come in contact with her. She is definitely a wonderful teacher and encourager. All will benefit from her.

Helaine Matz is a great instructor and I would highly recommend her for learning Spanish, no matter your level. I decided to brush up on my Spanish due to trips that were planned in Spanish-speaking countries. Helaine really helped me with my vocabulary, significantly improved my reading comprehension, and gave me the confidence to be able to speak the language while I was traveling. Her encouraging attitude and energy made learning fun and stress-free, which was important to me, as I was usually coming from a long day of work. I believe any student would benefit from instructions from Helaine. -Yelena Trepetin, Attorney

I have had the privilege of working with Defense Linguistics on various contracts such as German, Arabic, Persian/Farsi, Japanese, Indonesian, Hindi, French etc etc ... off and on for the past 4 years. I believe on behalf of Marines and myself, it is an honor to write a letter of recommendation for the director of this school, Ms.Amiri. My relationship with her has been one of mutual professional respect. My role as the Command Language Program Manager has been the impetus for the relationship, but the partnership exists because of a deep level of trust and respect. We both love teaching others about new languages and have a passion of watching them grow in it. I have hared many good things about Defends Linguistics' tutors from bigger language centers such as Berlitz, DLS, DLI, Ad Astra.... Over the period of instruction D.Linguistics tutors were a vital part of the growth of our linguist Dep. here at Marine Base. During a four-year span, I had the pleasure of working with and observing the attitudes of this particular school. They are very professional and knowledgeable native speakers who love to teach. All the curriculum comes from the director, Ms.Amiri who is very organize and easy to follow. Ms. Amiri and her tutors engage the student with a sense of purpose and make everyone feel at ease. Defense Linguistics's tutors have passion for their work as well as a very strong will to win which lead many students raising their test scores at our base. D.linguistics ( former name; School of Persia,LLC) gets contracts once or twice a years here MCIA sometime between May-Oct as one to one or group session. The levels of instruction is a mix of Beginners to Advanced. I have no reservations in strongly recommending any of school's tutors, specially Ms. Amiri herself for Persian/ Farsi as a future professional partner. Please do not hesitate to contact me for any further information regarding D.Linguistics. God’s Blessings, Al T. James, II Language Program Manager MCIA

I’ve met lots of people that are multilingual, but none that have the command of speaking and writing several languages that Yolanda Goss has. I was fortunate enough to meet Yolanda when I was an undergraduate in college. While I was satisfied with passing three terms of French, she was mastering that and more – taking courses in grammar, German, and working on a project where she taught English as a second language. My relationship proved very fortunate when I was recommended for a scholarship to attend a German university, where I would be taking undergraduate level courses at the University of Goettingen. This was a competitive scholarship and at the time, I only had one semester’s worth of German. I needed to learn as much German as I possibly could and I knew that Yolanda could help me. Her plan was that during my senior undergraduate year I would skip straight from the first semester to the third semester. It turned out that I would be accepted in the third semester German class if I could prove mastery of the second semester through a spoken and written exam. Our goal was to pass that exam with Yolanda preparing for the grammar, vocabulary and speech component during the summer break. German is not a straightforward language with its three genders and tricky prepositions, but Yolanda made it seem easy, often illustrating her points with information from other languages. Long story short, I passed my entrance exam to third semester German with flying colors. My accomplishments in qualifying for third-semester German were certainly noticed and I was able to win my scholarship and go overseas. Furthermore, when I arrived at the University of Goettingen I passed the German comprehension exam with high marks on the very first attempt. I credit that achievement to Yolanda. Second semester German deals with future tenses and subjective constructions; it’s beyond introductory phrases and conversational vocabulary. Yolanda helped me build the foundation to put it all in perspective. I’ve always been impressed with Yolanda’s ability to make learning languages seem simple. She has incredible patience and a real love for learning and teaching. I think she’s a great resource for anyone needing an instructor, teacher or tutor and I give her a heartfelt recommendation.

Laurel was a tutor for me for Spanish for over a year. She is a wonderful, wonderful tutor. She made it fun. I went from knowing a little Spanish to being able to have a conversation. She was able to help me through the process of learning a new language, and I never felt embarrassed or like I didn't want to try speaking. She was very encouraging. Laurel was born to be a Spanish teacher!

I met with Alex on a regular basis for over a year so he could help me write academic English in the context of my Masters, as well as improve my spoken English - which is almost fluent without being native. He also proof read my papers and thesis. I thought his skills in teaching to be outstanding. Very encouraging and patient, he took these lessons very seriously, as classes could be postponed but never cancelled, which ensured a much needed regularity. His way of teaching is pleasant and never monotonous; he manages to convey his enthusiasm very well; I felt encouraged to sustain my efforts, week by week, especially as my progress was visible. I would strongly recommend Alex for anyone willing to learn or improve their language skills - either in French of in English, as his French was as good as mine (a native speaker).
