Sean is a great guitar instructor. He explains theory well and offers practical guidance and exercises to improve technique. I highly recommend.
Keith is a drummers, drummer. Aside from being an exceptional drum instructor, he has LOADS of touring experience, professionally recorded, numerous workings with "Big Names" in the music industry, and not to mention the grammy's are quite impressive :-) Keith not only taught me how to read drum music, but he encouraged me relentlessly when it sometimes became challenging, as things worth while often are. He explained the ever important role of 'time management' in music and how it not only affects music, but also that it affects every aspect of our lives. Keith has been a mentor and also a friend. As a person with my own successes in the industry, I have found a profound inspiration from Keith. I cherish our 30 min together and wouldn't trade them for anything. I highly recommend Keith as a drum teacher for ALL ages.
I began lessons with Andrew Toy about a month ago. Very personable and talented musician. My main reason for taking up lessons was to increase my drum vocabulary. I do not read music but have been playing drums since I was a teenager. I am now 84 and enjoying it personally but have had a few "gigs" here and there. Not only am I learning new variations but Andrew is introducing me to reading music. He is a good teacher; very patient and personable. Thanks for recommending him. Kevin has been awesome. Right from hour one, he had me advancing my skill level at drumming. Not sure who was more enthusiastic, me or him! Fabulous teacher, good guy, and a talented musician.
Peter provided a fabulous band, The Rockits, for a huge birthday party! They played great dance party music and didn't charge a ridiculous amount. Terrific tunes and energy from everyone in the band. Really made the party fun! I will contact him for any entertainment needs I have in the future for sure.
I worked with John for over four years, sharing the bandstand as performers, and also going into the classroom as music educators all around the United States. John is a versatile and talented percussionist! He is capable of playing many different styles and is well versed on all percussion instruments. John is a constant pro and I have always enjoyed creating music with him. As an educator John is thoughtful, caring, and informative. His style is one that is easy for students to relate to and inspires growth. He takes on not only the role of music educator, but also one as mentor. John's performing experience and passion for music blends with his love of encouraging and helping young musicians in such a way that his students have no choice but to show consistent progress as players, but also as people.
These lessons were great. Regarding drums, I was an absolute beginner, and Tommy's lessons turned out to be an excellent jump-start. I used to play keyboards and guitars before, and I enjoy picking up by ear rather than reading notation, so I really liked informal and 'non-notational' way the lessons went. There was no hard notation drill, and yet Tommy had covered most rudiments, basic techniques, and patterns needed to rock in about 10 lessons. I'd recommend this for anyone who doesn't know how to hold sticks but want to get introduced into rock drumming.
I've been going to 7DrumCity for almost a year and really enjoy going there. Not only is it a good place to start to learn how to play drums, but it's a cool spot for experienced drummers as well. It's filled with drummers and other musicians. What better place to meet and connect with other musicians? It's nice being able to bounce back ideas and questions with other drummers. Maybe you have a question regarding in ear monitors or particular drum heads or mics, whatever it is, it's nice being able to ask other drummers who regularly gig, tour, and record. I took lessons long ago when I was a kid and I've missed being able to just sit down and talk drums with someone. In terms of actual lessons, my view is that you're never too old or experienced to learn new beats and styles. It can be very easy to get set in your ways style and technique wise. I think it's healthy to try new things and get another drummer's perspective. All of the instructors are well qualified to teach, no matter your skill level.
I am a professional, freelance musician working out of Rockville, MD, and I teach lessons to aspiring musicians of all skill levels. I am a sound designer with a jazz vocal background. I have been teaching privately for 10 years. I encourage songwriting, self-accompaniment, and motivation to practice and create for one's self. My partner has been a drummer for as long as he can remember. He will be teaching the drum portion. We have a set in our music studio for the studio. It is highly recommended that the student has a set of their own or at least a drum practice pad. Our program is designed for growing children and high school students. We are also trained to help you with college audition processes.
Adruma is probably the best percussionist I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He is a top of the line musician who I deeply respect for his professionalism, dedication and love for what he does and that means to put on his best performance every time! I highly recommend Adruma for any opportunities that come his way. Sharon Steele, President /Producer, Pasadena Theatre Company, Anne Arundel County, MD.
Frankey has been the drummer for our church over the last seven years. He has matured into a very gifted drummer. He is reliable, conscientious, professional, and a great musician.
I know how to make learning simple and easy.
Mike is an amazing teacher! He is incredibly knowledgable and is willing to work with you where you are. I was around 34 when I started taking drumming lessons with Mike and didn't know much about reading music. It was my first time holding drum sticks and within the first two lessons I had a good understanding of how to read notes and apply what I've learned practically. Within the first couple of months I was doing well and could pretty much understand how to dissect a song, play along and keep up with the pace. My questions were always answered and he worked with me so well whenever I was stuck. Beyond teaching music, Mike very encouraging has an impressive ability to work through intellectual obstacles, equipping his clients with the tools they need to keep progressing and moving forward. I WISH I had starting working with Mike when I was a young kid, but he was probably not born yet...and two continents away. I wholeheartedly recommend this teacher!!!!!!! If you have an opportunity to work with Mike, take it!
Although we ultimately decided my nearly 3-yr-old son is still too young for drum lessons, the lesson went well. Marty reviewed the names of the different drums in a drum set, let my son play them some, and then tried some rhythm exercises by clapping and counting. He is very patient and good with children.
I do drum set and snare drum lessons including sticking, stick control, technique, double bass, time, rhythm and meter. Thank you for your interest. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.
I'm a young professional drummer with 17 years of experience in percussion. I got started in a school band and stayed sharp drumming in rock bands throughout high school, college, and even graduate school. These days, I tour the country as part of an indie/alternative rock duo. When I'm not on the road, I am available to give lessons for beginner- and intermediate-level drummers. My approach to drumming revolves around skill and enthusiasm for the craft. I owe much of my proficiency and success to a private instructor I had years back. I'm starting Proven Drum Lessons because I'm confident that I can make the same type of lasting positive impact on today's crop of students. For what it's worth, I'm also an economist with a Master of Science degree from a prominent research university. Hence, the intersection of my background and experience makes me uniquely qualified to offer perspectives on the financial side of life as a musician. This could also be of some use to an aspiring drummer. My pricing is reasonable and I'm a punctual, friendly, and reliable person. I've also developed patience, having taught economics to undergraduates at the university and community college levels. On a good day, I'd like to think I'm also a cool guy and someone to look up to. If you or someone you know is looking for lessons, reach out! I'd love to start a discussion. Kevin Founder, Proven Drum Lessons
Great teachers! Both of my kids learn from Steve Pae, one on guitar and the other on drums. They love having lessons with him. We can't wait until the next recital!!!
