In the past I have had trouble finding a reliable carpet cleaner, and I think I finally found it in DiamondShine. Greg is the sole proprietor, and I liked that he, personally, came to do the work after we agreed on the price. He followed through with everything he told me: punctual arrival, good quality, efficient work with high-quality products and cleaning tools, and a more-than-fair price for the services provided. I'm happy to say that DiamondShine will be my carpet cleaner moving forward.

Bottom-line: Top notch quality work at very reasonable price. I had LM Painting paint a 5000 SF house, install backsplash at 4 locations, and seal all grout throughout the house. Couldn’t be happier with the results. Already gotten compliments on how nice the edges look. They covered every square inch of floor before starting. There was no cleanup required, they paid attention to detail while working, and surpassed expectations. Photos speak for themselves. Punctual, professional and pleasant. Highly recommended with no reservations. This will be my go-to contractor from now on.

Matt did an excellent job. He was on time for this two day job (he laid the bricks the first day, and did the grout the second day after it was set). Matt also cleaned up afterwards nicely, and he was responsive to our preferences on how we wanted the bricks laid out. His pricing was also very fair, and we would do business with him again.

Laminate flooring was well installed. He's a great person and was able to fit me in his schedule in as little as a day after I sought out a floor installer. I would use him agin for any future projects. My floors turned out awesome and he adviced us on what to buy for the floors too!

I did not particularly like the fact that the workers assured me that the stains would come out of the grout and they did not.

We recently selected Baiza for our paver sealing project. Marvin and his crew have done a great job to meet our tight timeline with great quality of work and competitive price. They cleaned the front driveway and backyard, installed sand and sealer and finished the cleaning. The weather was not cooperative with us but Marvin tried his best to handle the impact of the weather on the project and gave us the best result. Marvin is very detail oriented and he found there were two sharp pieces of stone on the retaining walls at our backyard left by the previous contractor. He mentioned it to us and showed to us it is not safe to the kids and he got rid of those sharp pieces for us. His true customer oriented service is excellent and we are very satisfied with his work and would like to recommend his company to our friends.

Patrick was great! He arrived a few minutes early and was very friendly. He evaluated what needed to be fixed and actually replaced additional grout sections to try to prevent it from cracking again. He even went out and purchased a new bag of grout in the same color to ensure it would have a better result than the last company who grouted. We would recommend Patrick's work!

Mr. Crossen tiles my Beach Cottage and did the job in three days. The areas were the kitchen, bathroom, laundary area and hall way. There are one place that needed to be leveled and John did a great job and all the cuts were clean with tight grout lines. I great job and experience. My wife was very pleased with the craftsmanship.

Over the course of 2 days, Ted and one assistant helped us with lots of projects around our house, including re-attachment of a tile in our bathroom, installation of a new bathroom fan, re-caulking/grouting in our shower, re-attachment of a mantle to the wall, insertion of foam insulation/caulking to repair our chimney, re-attachment of tiles on our front walkway, dishwasher repair, and more. Ted was very punctual, professional, and easy to talk to and work with. He seems to be very knowledgeable about home repairs and it was really helpful to have him around right when we moved into our new home. We asked for a lot of help and Ted delivered - he got everything done (between him and one other person). Overall, we're glad we hired Ted and plan to use him again in the future!

Perpetual Shine has cleaned our bar for years. They're flexible and very detail oriented. Over the time they have helped with several projects that have come up; carpet cleaning, grout repair and small tile work. I can always count on them for an honest estimate for additional work and a timeline for completion. I trust them explicitly.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How can I get my grout clean?

Dirt, mildew and grime can make your grout lines look downright tragic. If you have the ability, DIY tile and grout cleaning is definitely doable. Your main obstacles are time, project size, availability of the right materials and effort. Your first step in tile and grout cleaning is making sure the surface area is cleaned of basic dirt and buildup and wiped down. Be sure not to use a bleach-based cleaning agent, which could react dangerously with the vinegar used in later steps.

Depending on the delicacy of your tile and grout, it may be wise to start with water and friction before proceeding to a cleaning solution. In the shower you can spray the area while brushing gently, or use a spray bottle filled with warm water on countertops or floors. If water won’t do the trick, try a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, and repeat the gentle brushing motion. This combination should begin to lift dirt and grime from the grout. For additional tile and grout cleaning power, baking soda applied directly to grout lines and sprayed with your water vinegar solution can help suds off sticky grime. If your DIY cleaning solutions aren’t doing the trick, store-bought sprays and pastes may have more cleansing power. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and enjoy your sparkling clean grout.

Tile and grout cleaning supplies include:

  • Old standard or electric toothbrush
  • Stiff bristle brush
  • Spray bottle
  • White vinegar
  • Commercial grout cleaner

How much does it cost to clean tile and grout?

The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Pros may charge a flat fee or by the square foot. Rates can vary depending on the type of tile and grout you have (more delicate tiles may mean specialized products or careful handwashing), how dirty your tile and grout are, and what part of the country you are in (regional labor rates and costs to do business affect costs). For example, one floor cleaning company charges 75 cents per square foot for tile and grout cleaning for projects that permit cleaning by machine. Another company may charge $30-$50 per hour for hand-cleaning of tiles. Companies often charge a minimum fee for services to ensure their business expenses are met when they accept a job, no matter how small. In addition, a tile and flooring cleaning professional may charge added fees, such as $25 or more, to move heavy furniture or appliances.

How do professionals clean tile and grout?

If you need tile and grout cleaning and don’t have the time or mobility for scrubbing your entire house on your hands and knees, it’s time to turn to the pros. Tile and grout cleaning professionals have industrial-grade machines designed for the sole task of cleaning the porous materials of grout and tile. Typically, a cleaning pro will come out to assess the job and provide you with a quote. Often they charge per square foot (for example, 75 cents per square foot), with higher prices or an hourly rate for areas that will need hand cleaning. The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Once onsite, the pros thoroughly clean the area by wiping or sweeping down and then vacuuming up any dry dirt. Next a chemical tile cleaner is sprayed over the surface, causing dirt to loosen and adhere to the spray; the industry term for this is “suspension.” The pros then clean the floor with professional-strength machines, which often use a combination of steam, brushes and vacuum to loosen, agitate and lift entrenched dirt. Your floor is then rinsed, removing all the spray. Usually a small room can be cleaned in under an hour. Applying a sealant afterward is recommend and will also affect cost.
