I forgot the challenges of a new puppy, since my older guy is 13. The beginning was a tough adjustment and our family needed help fast. After calling referrals from my sphere, I was still at a dead-end and a week later. I tried Thumbtack and Natasha was nearly instant in her response-- even quicker to meet us and assess the situation in comparison to the other respondents. After meeting Natasha I knew I didn't need to look further and she would be the perfect fit! Although she walked our guy for a week she carefully introduced him to Andre who would take over our daily walks. Natasha wasn't going to get off that easy though. We had a trip come up and our pup needed a sitter. Unfortunately, he was still due a set of shots, so interactions with other dogs had to be limited. Of course, Natasha came to the rescue. With daily photos, continued walks and lots of love, our little guy couldn't have been happier. Now that we're back to just the walks, Andre is just as great as Natasha. He's kind, gentle, and you can tell, really cares for the dogs on his route. I couldn't have asked for a better compliment to Natasha. After every walk we get a report of their route, dog's behavior and a few photos. If you're looking for a 5-star full-service pet company (because they do so much more than walking dogs), please reach out to Walk with Renzo and Ruby Inc. They're the best!

This company has been horrible. The first assigned sitter canceled for personal reasons. Fine, life happens. Not a big deal. Second sitter comes, she seems fearful of big dogs. Third assigned sitter has been M.I.A. She is supposed to be at my house watching my dogs right now. The company's response is "we don't have a status update right now. " Why am I paying almost 90.00 per night ?!?

Vicky was great! She not only took great care with all of our animals, she handled my anxiety well! We received photos and notes every day with updates of the animals and how they were doing. I told her not to worry about one of my super shy cats because if she tried to find her, it would stress her out more than just being left alone...well, the first day I get a picture of that cat just chillin with Vicky! When we came home we were greeted with an, "Oh...it's you. You're back" bored look from the animals...that was GREAT! I knew she kept them so happy they were not pining away for us or stressed out. I had used another pet sitter for seven years due to convenience, but the animals seemed stressed when we returned. With Vicky, everything was great.

I cannot recommend Stephanie highly enough. We hired Stephanie to look after our 1 year old cat for a two week period and a one week period over the past couple months and both times Stephanie did an excellent job. She checked in on our cat every day, spent time with him and sent us updates. Most recently, we ran out of wet food for our cat and she ended up bringing that exact same brand with her, which was very generous. She watered plants, and looked after our home very very well. In addition, she's a very friendly person and genuinely cares about the animals she's caring for. If you need a pet sitter, look no further! We surely haven't. : )

My scheduled cat-sitter canceled at the last minute. I found Happy Paws through Thumbtack. We quickly scheduled a meet the cat session. Angela was great, she had just the right person in mind to watch the cat. Liz was here every day, brought in the mail, cleaned the kitty litter, and played with Lucky each time she visited. She sent me notes every day. Lucky was a happy kitty while we were away. I will hire Happy Paws the next time I need someone to watch my cat.

Debbie provided outstanding care of my cats, and did all she said, sending video clips and photos and text updates on how they were. She was caring and attentive, and they responded threefold. I've not ever had such a worry-free time with a professional pet sitter and will most definitely work with her company again in the future.

Gerard has taken care of our two cats twice while we were out of town, stopping by our house twice a day to feed them and clean the litter boxes. He always goes the extra mile to spend quality time with each of them. Gerard is a "cat person" and understands that cats are not just feed-and-leave animals as most pet-sitting services seem to think. They need company and stimulation, which Gerard happily provides. Even our shy cat was charmed by him and wound up in his lap in no time. Gerard also sends frequent reports and photographs to let us know that all is well. And he pays attention to detail: he brings in the mail, cleans cat dishes after use, and always leaves the house looking better than he found it. We have found him trustworthy and reliable and recommend him without hesitation or reservation.

I returned to my home in Virginia after having been out West for a few years, caring for my parents. Upon my return, I learned that my closest friend had just weeks to live. She wanted me to be with her. At the same time, my little 18 month old dog was not well. We still didn't know exactly what was wrong, but with increasing frequency, she had severe bleeding out of both ends! It turned out to be a serious autoimmune disorder, and she must receive pretty close attention because symptoms are subtle until it is a life-threatening emergency. I was torn, knowing that my friend had two cats and I couldn't take my dog with me. She requires medications and a special, home cooked diet. I placed a notice for an emergency, 24-hour pet sitter who could take my dog in their home, because she wasn't well enough to be alone. I received many responses. I chose Nikki partly because of the caring message she left me, and I was impressed with her medical background. Upon meeting Nikki, I felt reassured, and appreciated her directness and honesty. I felt very little trepidation about leaving my little dog in her care for what could have been a few weeks. Finding Nikki was a gift. Trusting her with my little dog came easy by the second day. She always made time to talk with me when I called to check on my pup, and the details she told me helped me to know that she was keeping a close watch on the little one. Her love for animals is very apparent, and she notices everything. Nikki has, on several occasions, taken my dog into their home on very short notice, and on other occasions, has kept her a day or two longer than planned, again without prior notice. (A couple of times, my home cooked meals for the dog ran out, and Nikki cooked up a batch without being asked.) Nikki is very knowledgeable concerning medical issues and treatments, and I NEVER worry when my dog is with her. My pup enjoys every second with Nikki and her family, and it's a special treat for her to go there. She is well socialized during those visits, with Nikki's family and seven pets, with neighbors and friends, and with other pets that Nikki sometimes has at her home. I have gifted my dog with a 24-hour stay at Nikki's home on quite a few occasions, even when I didn't need a pet sitter! Nikki has far exceeded my expectations of a pet sitter, and I've always received from her so much more than my money's worth. I highly, highly recommend Nikki. She is skilled, patient, reliable, honest and caring; she notices every detail, and she LOVES animals! I'm so thankful to have found her.

I have two dogs and one cat; all are older animals and one dog is blind. Leaving my pets in the care of others is the hardest decision I have had to make. No one cares for my pets better than me, except for Cupid Pets! Kim and Bruce are down-to-earth animal lovers who have bent over backwards for me and to make sure my pets are happy and safe! They come to your house to evaluate your pets, they listen carefully to your instruction and with their knowledge, can offer some suggestions if issues arise. They have the time (never rushed walks), they have the training (how to greet fearful dogs) and they have the love of animals (belly rubs for the dogs and pettings for the cat) that make them wonderful pet caregivers. They also try to be flexible in their scheduling and are reasonable in their pricing.

Caroline is always there when I (my dogs and cats) need her, taking excellent care of them, reporting any problems to me as soon as she notices something, and taking care of my home, too! My dogs love her and absolutely go nuts for their "walkies"!

We had a wonderful experience with Thumbtack and Shatiya. Our longtime pet-sitters left town. We gave the website a try and quickly made the connection to Petstigious. We liked the team's experience, and rates were competitive. The initial meeting was helpful, and we felt confident while we were gone. It was fun and adorable to get pictures and updates. We know the cats were happy and well taken care of. Thank you so much! Until next time, Stacia and Brian (+B & B)

Andre from Furry Walks and Wash pet sat for our two cats while we were away on vacation for a week. Andre was very professional, and I felt safe leaving the cat in his hands. After every visit Andre sent a detailed email update on how the cats were doing including pictures and was very responsive to our requests. I would absolutely recommend Furry Walks and Wash.

Kim is very professional and sweet, she took care of my kitty cat and chinchilla while we were away for our wedding. I have an incredibly needy cat but he wasn't super desperate when we got home so I could tell he had enough attention. We then used Kim to check on the house and chinchilla while away for our honeymoon. I usually worry a lot about my animals and can get a bit anxious but she was very understanding and I felt relieved to have her with them. I left my cat at a friend's house for our honeymoon but I think if we go on another long trip I will just ask Kim to come back. She has even brought in packages for us and made an extra stop to turn off my ridiculous house alarm so the beeping noise wouldn't bother my chinchilla. Highly recommend. (Oh and she is one of the only pet sitters we have had who isn't scared of the chinchilla. I can tell she is a real animal lover)

Jane took care of our FIVE little fur-bearing family members while we were away for a week. She is by far the best pet-sitter we have ever had! She started with an initial meeting in our home, which was incredibly thorough. It's clear she has a real love for and understanding of dogs, and real skill handling behavioral issues with pets. It's also clear now that we've had her support that the full range of services she offers is delivered with the same gentle, insightful, and steady care that every pet owner wants for their four-legged loved ones. She also retrieved our mail and made sure the house was safe while we were away--a real bonus! Jane provides daily written updates, which were incredibly helpful (she also identified an issue with our bathroom ceiling that would have taken us a few days to notice after we came back). She even found our shy guy, Skinner, every day, even though he is very good at hiding from strangers! We returned home to a happy, snuggly, healthy menagerie that had been expertly cared for. It was such a comfort knowing we had reliable, thoughtful care while we were away. We'll definitely reach out to Jane again the next time we're out of town. Strong endorsements from both of us humans and our furry five-some!

Hillary has been walking our puppy Chauncey during the week while we are away at work for the past 3-4 weeks. She is great to work with and very trustworthy. Our Chauncey loves her! There is never accidents in the house when we get home and Hillary leaves us notes or text messages letting us know what she did with Chauncey and if he went potty while she was there. She has been working out great and we hope to keep her business for a long time!

I am beyond exceptionally impressed with Adam of Wags & Purrs Pet Care. I called him on rather short notice last week, and when he came to my home to meet my crew -- a Great Pyrenees, two parrots, a cat and my indoor-kept Pekin duck, Adam was not fazed – not even about caring for a duck! He was very businesslike and asked all the appropriate questions an experienced pet sitter would ask. I liked the idea of hiring a vet tech, but when I met him, I also immediately felt comfortable with his easy-going and professional manner. Even though my trip was stressful, because I was 1,500 miles away for my 94-year-old mother’s surgery, I never, EVER once "worried" about how things were going at home, because Adam kept me apprised of every detail. I’m sometimes a worrier, but I was very impressed with Adam’s ability to handle anything that arose. His reliability and consistency were immediately evident, and when my two-day trip suddenly turned into three because of a massive blizzard, Adam picked up the third day without hesitation. He faithfully texted me after his twice-a-day visits, but he did much more than that. He sent me lots of pix of my pets, video clips, and always updated me on how they were doing. Adam was never, ever in a "rush" when we talked or texted, which says so much about his dedication to animal care. I am confident Adam genuinely cares about animals’ health, safety and welfare, and clearly doesn't see pet-sitting as "just a job." He is extremely responsible and detail oriented, and even stopped by a time or two just to check on things. I knew I found the right person for the job with my varied crew when Adam took it upon himself to make friends with my African Grey, 18, who NEVER goes to anyone except me! I was beyond shocked and impressed!! Greys are extremely cautious of anything and anyone "new," but mine undoubtedly sensed Adam was trustworthy, and sat on his hand every day! In the pictures Adam sent me, my Grey looked so content! I have always made sure my parrots’ cage doors are secure to avoid “escapes,” but when Adam took it upon himself to open the parrots’ doors -- and my Grey let Adam handle him, that’s when I was convinced WITHOUT a doubt that Adam is “the” sitter for my crew. He was extremely attentive to all of my "family" members, and even my standoffish cat kissed him on the nose. Adam made sure my duck had her bath to exercise her arthritic legs, and prepared her salads and watermelon in addition to her the regular diet. In fact, he did not hesitate to take care of every little detail each pet needed -- and took it upon himself to do much more. I was also very impressed with his respect for a client's home. Of course, he made sure my home was secure and never hesitated to call and text when he had a question or concern. But he also treated my home and my family like his own. My landline rings incessantly (it's only backup), and Adam called me because he was worried someone was trying to reach me! My laundry sink overflowed (my fault for not advising him!) and he was very concerned about it. Not only did he clean up, he even improvised a “new” cat litter box when my kitty’s box became wet from the sink issue. Amazing. When I came home last evening, I honestly wondered if my critter crew was a bit disappointed it wasn't Adam coming back! They were all so content, and that simply spoke volumes about Adam’s care. I hope to keep him as my permanent pet sitter for a long, long time -- and I know my “family” feels the same way. Terri M C, Nov. 26, 2015

About

Pet sitting is what I do. I do not have a full license yet, so only metro access works for me at the moment. I love animals -- dogs, cats, rabbits, fish, and turtles. I make exceptions for a few animals. I only do overnight sit, from one to two days (no more than that).
