This is my first time using Thumbtack and honestly, I am really satisfied with water heater installation from Walter. Our Water heater was leaking (19 years old) and needed immediate replacement since it was leaking. I was calling all over for the contractors for prices and they all ranged over $1000. Also, other contractors were willing to charge extra fees and unnecessary county code. Walter was professional and very kind. He explained in details about the water heaters and purchasing county code is not necessary. He also showed up at home depot 7 in the morning and picked all the necessary parts and water heater. All I needed to do was to make the purchase. Also, he delivered water heater to my home AT NO ADDITIONAL COST. He finished the work in a timely manner and cleaned up well. I am REALLY satisfied with his service. Walter is going to my plumber and I am going to introduce him to my friends and neighbours. His labour cost is very affordable and reasonable compare to other contractors. I was able to save hundreds of dollars in labour cost. Overall you will never regret hiring Hi solution and Walter is the guy. He is a licensed contractor.
Excellent service from start to finish. Luis and Joe came out to do an estimate for insulation they were curtious and on time. After a day the team came to finish the work, there was only 4-6" of original insulation left in the attic. EBRR and team showed up on time and ready to work. Half a day later we had a fully insulated attic. The crew even removed the old house fan that was leaking air into the attic and put new drywall over it. I could have gotten the project done cheaper by a few hundred dollars but none of the contractors I had come out were nearly as professional, polite, and knowledgeable as the EBRR team. I highly recommend this team.
After struggling to resolve my rat issue in my basement with my original pest control provider (they set traps... and one was caught and ran to die in an area we couldn't reach, it smelled for weeks), I called Eric. Before doing anything, by simply looking at the droppings, he determined that there weren't many, maybe 1-2, but we needed to act fast, because it could be a couple. He had a hypothesis that the rats were coming in through a hole from my AC system that led to the sewage and were using the space between the walls (specifically, the insulating materials) as their nests. To test the hypothesis, he covered the hole with a plastic cover. Came back two days later. Sure enough, the cover was chewed through. He then came back at a time he knew the rats would be out foraging (there was nothing to eat in my basement), filled the hole with water, closed the hole with steel mesh. Voila, he resolved my issue completely without killing any rat. I was so grateful, because while I don't like rats in my house, I hated the idea of killing them.
Months ago, I looked for someone to do a small painting project on Thumbtack. And I ended up with a brand new home. Christian, Jessica, Hector and the rest of the team at 5th Gen Group honestly do miracles. We own a 100+ year old row home in Washington DC and we've had problems ever since we moved in five years ago. After dealing with four different contractors that left me unsatisfied, I tried Thumbtack (at that time, new in the DC area). Christian came out to do an estimate and I was impressed by him from the get go - as a woman, I hate when contractors act like I'm stupid or uninformed. Christian never did that, and he answered all my questions respectfully and thoroughly and would defer to my wishes. We initially contracted for a gut remodel of our ancient kitchen and leaking bathroom. Christian's professional opinion was heavily appreciated as well as his vision - he instantly "got" the feel of a space and spent a lot of time listening to not only what we wanted, but how we would use the space and what we planned for the house in the future. Of course, the best laid plans always go awry - we knew our house had a few "handyman specials" but once Christian opened up the floor in the kitchen, we realized we were really in for it. Down there was a hidden mess of rotting wires, missing piping, garbage from the last renovations, and rotted-out beams. Overnight, our budget doubled. I personally wanted to die. But Christian calmly lead us through the process, helped us try to salvage our murdered budget, and focused on explaining the trade-off in home values. We ended up with an additional half bath downstairs (because really, what was another 5K at that point?), brand new kitchen (with a small bar!) a brand new stairwell and relocated laundry room, and a brand new bathroom with a shower (after 5 years of an ancient leaking cast iron tub). Christian isn't completely perfect - he's totally a perfectionist, and if you are one too, be prepared for some long conversations. There is an epic texting exchange over the bathroom tile that I may print out just to see how long it really was. But that's about the only thing. Also, for the other ladies on here- I always hate opening my home to someone because I have had bad experiences with contractors who were, at best, creepy. Christian and Hector were completely professional, and they really went the extra mile to make sure I always knew who would be in the house, when they would arrive, and how to reach both of them. Christian also has a lot of loyalty and integrity toward his clients - he is always fair, both in pricing and in the treatment of your home. He broke a small appliance - the only reason I knew was because he called me when he was purchasing an (upgraded) replacement on his own dime. All renovations are hard projects, long projects, and frequently frustrating. There was definitely a day when I wanted to kill Christian for sending me out to two different quarries in far out Virginia right around rush around. But when I stepped into my home for the first time, I couldn't stop smiling. And when we finally scrape together the budget for a third floor extension, I know exactly who I am calling.
Luis came to my property the same day I contacted him for an estimate on a small fence repair job. He was on time, professional and was able t complete the job quickly. He offered to get the job done that day and within 3 hours he purchased supplies and competed the job. Good work and I would hire him again.
We were lucky; John showed up promptly, and he was a helpful professional in every respect. After a careful inspection of our existing siding, he asked us what our perceived needs were. We had ben told by two previous contractors that a leak between the attached garage and the house would require removal of all existing siding on the entire house, followed by a Tyvek wrapping. This would be followed by putting new siding, etc. on the entire house. These were both pricey, (15K) proposals, just to fix a targeted small leak. ($$$$$$$) John said that overall, his inspection revealed that our existing siding, etc. looked to be in very good shape, with the exception of that small portion of the exterior wall between the house and garage. Get this; he suggested that the most prudent and cost-effective remedy for this situation was the careful removal of the existing siding only on that wall. The wall would be then wrapping with Tyvek and the original siding would be re-installed. Any siding damaged during removal could be replaced with existing siding taken from a portion of our house that is obscured from view. Cost? less than 10% of the other two estimates ($) How refreshing it was to meet a contractor who is concerned with the actual needs of a customer, rather than making a profit off of an unsuspecting client by charging them for doing extensive, expensive, and unneeded work. If I could give him 6 stars, I would.
William was extremely easy to work with and accommodated my last minute schedule change. He showed up on time and cleaned my windows, screens and gutters efficiently. I have no complaints of the service. I would have given the 5 star rating if my screen tracts were noticeably clean. I still have a considerable amount of black stuff in the tracts. When I called to inquire, William informed me that it was mold and would only be removed by pressure washing. I appreciate the honesty and budget friendly work that William with Top Notch Roofing provided. He is very fair and I look forward to working with him in the Spring to remove the mold from my window frames.
I needed a contractor to wall mount a 55" tv over a brick fireplace. The veteran owner were diligent and got the job done in a timely and efficient manner as well as concealing the wires behind the bricks. They also went beyond to clean the mess they created in their area of work. They provided me with a veteran discount for having a Navy Federal account on top of the already reasonable cost. My only complaint was they were not punctual. My appointment was between 3-5 and they showed up at 6 having to leave work early for no reason. Overall great experience.
Renaissance did an amazing job on my den. I originally hired them to mount a tv and ended up having him paint 2 rooms as well. They were on time, very responsive and knowledgeable. I had another contractor install a cable outlet and electrical outlet above my fireplace to make the mounting of my tv easy. However that contractor didn't do an efficient job and when Antonio mounted the tv both outlets were showing. It is very important to me that only the tv be visible after mounting. Antonio assured me that he would not only hide the cable box and cords but would fix the other contractors work as well. I was able to relax and everything was taken care of to my specifications. They went above and beyond to ensure that my needs were met and I was satisfied with the job. I would recommend them as well as use them again for other home improvement projects.
We are so happy to have found Marvin and his crew at Baiza Construction! It's been a year since Marvin completed the project of turning our fixer-upper into a beautiful home and we couldn't be happier. The renovations were extensive: they knocked down a wall and installed a modern kitchen, moved the location of a bathroom and gave us an amazing walk-in shower, sanded and stained hard-wood floors, painted, gave the house a new roof and all new windows, while insulating everything well so we will save money on heating and A/C in the future! They did a lot more, but too much to list. We keep going back to Marvin to do additional projects as needed. Marvin has been very good to us, he does great work at very fair prices. He's also a really nice guy who really wants to make sure we are happy with the results. The only problem? He's so sought after, it may be hard for him to find the time to respond. I think a lot of bad reviews are due to him just being so busy. My suggestion to him is to hire an administrative assistant to help with all the project scheduling, invoices, and other boring office stuff that I think he doesn't like to do. Also, maybe find a way to clone himself ;)
David Parades removed an old pedestal sink and installed a new one. He encountered several plumbing issues during the process which he explained and resolved promptly. He was punctual and worked efficiently. The finished project looks great. Would recommend and hire him again. Eva from Oakton
I hired Alex Kirpichenko of AAK Contractor to put in a backsplash over my kitchen sink. It was a small but exacting job because the backsplash was a photograph of an Italian landscape projected onto ceramic tile. From the very beginning I was most impressed with Alex's knowledge, authority, and efficiency. I had at first planned just to install the backsplash itself, but after discussing it with Alex decided it would look best surrounded by more tile, extending the full length of the walls under the cabinets. I had thought beige tile would be best, but Alex guided me to a pale blue gray stone, which brought out the beauty of the photograph in a way that beige wouldn't have. He also suggested that the backsplash be surrounded with strips of polished stone of the same color, giving the effect of a window. I really do feel as if I were gazing through a window on a peaceful Tuscan scene! The finished product has surpassed my expectations, and has warmed up my white and stainless-steel kitchen. And because of the window effect, the kitchen seems larger. The job took just a few days from start to finish and the price was reasonable, considering the high quality of the work. I would certainly use AAK Contractor again and would have no hesitation in recommending the company to others.
We recently had a mold issue at our residence, and being new home owners with a young child we were very concerned. We found Eugene through thumbtack and explained what our problem was. He was very professional and proposed what he thought would be a solution to the problem, not just a bandaid. On his advice we signed up for an energy audit. We went forward with Eugene from the information received on the energy audit and his initial thoughts. Not only did Eugene fix the problem but he also helped make our home much more energy efficient in the process. A few of the major things he facilitated was to fix insulation issues in our basement / attic, provide solutions and contractors to fix our HVAC system (Which had a 50% loss on the way upstairs), and to install an ERV system to provide fresh oxygen not only at the source, but through the entire house. Our HVAC is now running much better and our indoor air quality is superb. Eugene has helped provide a safe environment for my family to live and grow in. I would definitely recommend his expertise in building science to anyone. Eugene will help find the source of the issue and start there, rather than a quick patch job that will need to be redone in the future.
We recently had Valle Remodeling Inc completely renovate (floor to ceiling) our bathroom in three days. From start (buying the items from Lowes) to finish, we are extremely satisfied by the level of expert service provided by the contractor. It is the highest level of satisfaction one can derive from a remodeling job. He is extremely experienced, very affordable, goes beyond expectations, timely, and above all is very courteous. We are very happy that we found him to do the remodeling and we are already talking to add a half-bath in our basement.
After Julio visited the property, he instructed me to purchase the drywall, compound and tape in which I did. He kept on delaying the work and finally chose a date and time when I was busy driving a tractor trailer. He also instructed me to leave a check with my tenant in which I did. When Julio showed up he kept on calling me and told me that my tenant had misplaced the check. I told him no problem I will paypal you as soon as I'm legally allowed to pull over since I can't park a tractor trailer in the freeway. Julio said he can't wait. I reminded him that he had delayed this project numerous times and I told him that the day he chose I would be driving a truck and had suggested other dates. Julio refused to work. He had bailed on me despite me doing everything he asked me to including rescheduling several times and purchasing all the materials. When I returned from trucking I asked Julio if he would return -- he again refused. Unreliable and non commital
Comfenergy did a very thorough consultation and showed us many areas we could improve. We elected to do our attic insulation, have a bathroom vent redirected, and update the insulation in our unfinished basement through them. They got the job done very quickly.
Tom did a great job on some needed roof repairs at a reasonable price for a DC rowhouse. He is also knowledgeable about a wide range of other household jobs and was able to fix and help with several things around the house. Communication is not his strongest point as he has missed appointments without calling but if you can be patient its definitely worth it to have him help!
Five stars is not enough to rate the MP Builders Group team - Maximo and Job are top notch and seasoned veterans in the insulation business and their work is exemplary. I am an architect and very committed to achieving a solid building envelope and the MP Builders Group team does not cut corners. I spent hours and hours bidding my project to numerous other closed cell insulators but the MP Builders price was the most competitive and their crew delivered everything as promised, on budget and on time. They are first class.
Needed dry wall and insulation installed due to water damage. After they were done, it was like the damage was never there. They did exactly what I requested. Very professional and courteous. Highly recommend!
Thank you so much for a detailed review! I love it when everything goes according to plan and clients like you get a top notch experience. We look forward to serving all your needs in the future.
Learned about Curtis' company through work he did for a neighbor who was extremely satisfied with his work. They allowed us to see the work he'd done on their master bath and it looked great. We had our townhouse kitchen renovated by them. Curtis provided a very comprehensive estimate which detailed some items we hadn't considered such as daily clean-up, the payment schedule, and how receipts would be handled for materials purchases. His estimate came in at the middle of 4 estimates we received for tear-down of the original kitchen, new cabinet installation, tile floors and backsplash with some electrical and plumbing thrown in. He was able to accommodate an earlier start date when the cabinets we ordered were available earlier then expected by 2 weeks. He and his 2 assistants worked efficiently and more importantly they took care when doing the demo (and throughout the project) to protect the hallway floors and other areas of the house from dust, dirt and debris. They worked very efficiently and by the end of the 2nd day were starting on laying the tile floor. Cabinet installation went smoothly and he was kind enough to point out a couple items which we needed to report back to the cabinet makers regarding some bowing. Overall the project took approximately 9 business days from start to finish with a few small visits to finish up hardware, trim and reinstallation of the dishwasher once the counters and sink folks (separate company) finished their piece. His 2 assistants were equally pleasant and made us feel comfortable so we could ask questions as needed. We plan to use Curtis' company Oddjobs.pro again for upcoming bathroom renovations and some other work we need done.
