I was beyond satisfied with Mr. Rosenthall's service. My boyfriend was his client, facing 17 felonies for charges of credit card fraud with possible jail time and I am so proud to say that I've hired one of the best lawyers from Virginia to take on this case! Every single court date he fought for my boyfriends freedom. It is so amazing when someone just loves to do their job. Mr. Rosenthall did not get our hopes up nor did he steer us in the wrong direction, he told us the pros and cons of every worst case scenario and he did just as promised, WHICH WAS HIS BEST!! My boyfriend was held without bail and Mr. Rosenthall made great effort to get a bond hearing the following day AFTER I hired him. Throughout this process, my boyfriend ended up getting arrested at one of the court dates for what seemed to be an misunderstanding and Mr. Rosenthall made it his job to be there for my boyfriend the following day, even though he did not have to because this is a new case which means more money but he WILLINGLY wanted to help and even offered a fee that I couldn't beat to have him help my boyfriend out of this situation. My boyfriend got out the following day thanks to Mr. Rosenthall and I did not have to pay a cent! My boyfriends case resulted in 1 felony and 1 misdeamonor with absolutely NO jail time. I am extremely happy that I found Mr. Rosenthall. He helped my boyfriend get out of a situation that could've turned out to be way worst than it did. I would recommended him to ANY ONE whose freedom is on the line. This man loves what he does! He's one of the BEST in Virginia!!!!!

•I recommend Michael Mcvicker. "If all lawyers were like Michael" are the words my wife uttered about half way into our naturalization process. Like many, we live a life of two busy corporate careers and the prospect of going through the process on our own was daunting. We didn't know Michael and used Avvo to contact a few lawyers, but his approach sold us pretty quickly. Most importantly, Michael is an expert in the nuanced world of naturalizations. This is not a conveyor belt operation, far from it. Michael studied our cases in depth, brought forward potential concerns (however unlikely they were to actually impede the process) and ensured that we addressed them proactively. He brought years of experience of interacting with Immigration officers to bear on this case, spoke at length about the cases he had and went to great length to ensure that we were properly hedged against any small questions that could delay the cases. To top this off, my case involved a relocation in the middle of the process. Needless to say, Michael's office timely addressed this, but he also dedicated substantial amount of time to actually fly out to my new place of residence to accompany me to the interview. I will only add that this was not in vain, his presence paid off. Michael's team deserves special praise, in particular Yuliya, who played an essential role for us. Without her this case would have dragged on much longer. Yuliya is where attention to detailed is redefined. Receiving e-mails and calls from Yuliya quite late in the day is not unusual. I suspected that she did this knowing that reaching us after our work-hours would be a lot more efficient rather than sending e-mails and waiting for an answer. But this also meant that she worked late hours for us. Big thanks to her. Bottom-line here is that Michael with his years of experience in this area, in-depth cases analysis and personal approach and Yuliya with her attention to detail, hard work and sweet natured persistence make this team incredibly effective and efficient at what they do. You might think this type of top notch service comes at major law form price tag. My answer: it probably should, but it doesn't not. Class act, no reservations in recommending

Our day would not have been the same without Mary. She deserves way more than 5 stars! Leading up to the event she answered all of my wedding planning questions and offered to do anything she could to help. She also communicated with my mother and mother-in-law who were helping me plan. She had great ideas and made sure we thought about the little details we missed. After every conversation, I was less stressed and more excited! Before the event, she met with us to go over details, sent out a schedule, and was there for our rehearsal. A few days before the wedding, she reached out to all of our vendors to introduce herself. I didn't have to worry about a thing on the wedding day. My family and bridesmaids could also relax. Mary is priceless. If you're questioning whether you should have a day-of coordinator the answer is YES. If you're having trouble deciding who, the answer is MARY. She was so sweet to work with and we loved her we-can-make-that-happen attitude. I can't thank her enough for making our wedding day dreams come true :)

I have had a great experience working with Jay. He was highly responsive, actively listened to the intricacies of my legal matter, and ultimately provide me some great options for resolution. His retainer was very reasonable, and I feel I received great value for the money paid. I will continue to retain him as my personal attorney for corporate law matters, and would highly recommend him to others.

I am still working with Ms. McKinley but so far I have only positive feedback about working with her. She communicates back via email or phone call, she is responsive to suggestions, she doesn’t sugar coat and she will work with you. When working with attorneys, the hardest part is getting them to call you back. She at least notifies you if she is delayed or needs to get back to you, instead of leaving you wondering what is next. I am using her as my divorce attorney. I wouldn’t want any of my friends or family to go through divorce, but if so I would certainly recommend Ms. McKinley.

I would HIGHLY recommend Path Law Group- I had contacted several different Immigration Law Firms to get an initial consultation to answer a couple of very simple questions. All of the other law firms would not speak to me without accepting a "consultation fee" of $200+. Akshan answered on my first call, was more than willing to answer my questions and advised me accordingly without charging me a fee. In the event that I would have needed his services, I would have hired him on the spot. He diligently listened to me, was very professional, and gave me the legal advice I needed to hear to move forward.

We hired Ksenia for Immigration purposes because of her high reviews. What I liked about Ksenia was the attention she gave to me. I felt like she was not working on my case but as if we were a team. My questions were answered in a very timely manner, within minutes. The attorneys have a great knowledge of the law and its many quirks. I have dealt with other law firms before but I will give all my future business to ILEX LAW.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does an immigration attorney do?

Immigration lawyers help their clients through all phases of the immigration process. Experts on immigration law, they are legally qualified to represent U.S. citizens, permanent residents or undocumented immigrants. Immigration lawyers also provide assistance to visitors here on student, work or travel visas, and can represent clients who may have an expired visa or who have overstayed their visa.

You can hire an immigration lawyer to assist you with petitioning for renewing a permanent resident or green card, navigating the naturalization process, submitting an employee-based petition for a work visa, filing a petition for a family member, or representing you or a loved one who is facing detention or deportation, as well as replacing, extending or changing a current visa, green card or work permit. The immigration process is highly complex, with multiple hearings, paperwork and requirements. Hiring a legal expert to represent you can help you make your best effort in the process. When researching immigration lawyers, it is very important to verify their qualifications and find a reputable attorney. Read reviews and verify that the immigration lawyer is licensed by your state before paying any fees.

How do you find a good real estate lawyer?

If buying or selling property feels overwhelming and the thought of finding a good real estate lawyer seems daunting, you’re in luck. There are some simple steps to follow for finding a trustworthy, affordable real estate lawyer to help with your property and legal needs.

  • Determine what kind of real estate lawyer you need. Many states require a real estate attorney to handle sale closing documents. For more complex matters such as a real estate deal gone awry or foreclosure, you’ll want to find an attorney who has successfully handled cases like yours.
  • Look for online reviews of real estate lawyers in your area. Verify that they have proven experience closing or winning cases like yours and that they are in good standing with the state bar association.
  • Choose two or three lawyers to interview. Many offer a free consultation to learn about your case and provide information about rates. For standard real estate closing services, in-depth interviewing might not be necessary.
  • Ask about their rates and whether they charge by the hour or provide services for a flat fee. Ask whether a retainer is required, and what the total bill should be for a case like yours.
  • Ask for a write-up of the services that will be covered by the projected costs.
  • Make sure you like the real estate agent and they treat you with respect. Confirm whether they or another person will be working on your case and make sure you’re comfortable with all members of their team.
  • Pay the retainer and hire your lawyer.

What is a personal injury lawyer?

A personal injury lawyer fights on your behalf if you’ve been injured physically, psychologically, economically or in reputation. This injury may be the result of neglect or malicious intent of another person, or it could be at the hands of a business, government or other entity. Personal injury lawyers specialize in tort law, which is the law of civil wrongs like car accidents, company wrongdoing, unlawful imprisonment and more.

To become qualified to be a personal injury lawyer in the United States, a person must earn a bachelor’s degree, followed by a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from a law school. Most states then require the person to pass the bar exam to become licensed to practice law. Unlike many attorneys who require a retainer, personal injury lawyers often work on contingency fees. This means that in lieu of payment upfront, they receive an agreed-upon percentage of the settlement in case of a win.

What does a real estate lawyer do?

A real estate lawyer represents their client’s best interest in all matters related to the sale, purchase and ownership of real estate. They are experts in real estate law. In states that require a real estate lawyer to close home sales, the lawyer must review and finalize all documents before the deal can be legally completed. Real estate lawyers also help clients legally protect their rights when entering, exiting or renegotiating a real estate deal. You can hire a real estate lawyer as an individual or as a business. A real estate lawyer can help with negotiation, addressing mortgage fraud, managing foreclosures and bankruptcy, transfers of titles and deeds, property ownership disputes, zoning issues, creating a co-ownership contract for joint purchase of a property, and much more. Real estate lawyers can also protect you from issues that result when a known problem was not properly disclosed by the previous owner. Overall, real estate lawyers are an added cost when it comes to buying and selling property, but they also ensure your best interests are met, and that you and the people you are doing business with comply with the law.

What should you look for in a personal injury lawyer?

A personal injury lawyer will advocate for your legal rights if you’ve been hurt in an accident at work or in daily life, have suffered from medical malpractice, or are struggling to have your insurance carrier cover your needs. It may be helpful to talk with two or three lawyers before selecting one. When looking for a personal injury lawyer, research their reviews and make sure former clients have had good experiences with them. Next, make sure the personal injury lawyer has experience and proven success winning cases similar to yours. Confirm that the lawyer is licensed to provide services in your state. When you find a qualified personal injury lawyer with whom you want to work, freely discuss payment and fees before any work begins. Most lawyers offer a free consultation to learn what your case is about and explain their rates. Personal injury attorneys typically receive a percentage of your settlement (called a contingency fee), so they are paid after the trial or case is complete. Keep in mind that some attorneys have fees that you must pay even if you don’t win your trial. It’s important to understand these details before work begins so you don’t have any unhappy surprises later. Lastly, it’s wise to choose a personal injury lawyer that you have confidence in and with whom you can communicate openly and honestly.
