Mr. Taylor agreed to come to our house at our convenience and arrived on time. He was very professional and diagnosed the problem with our Washing Machine within a few minutes of his observations. He promptly fixed the problem and explained very clearly what the problem was and the process he went through to fix the problem. It all took about 30 minutes. Excellent service and I would not hesitate to request Mr. Taylor's services again. Phil Pieraldi

Working with Edward was a great experience he was fast and very knowledgeable. He was able to come in and replace my garbage disposal and provide tips on how to make it last. Also as a side note he was able to take a look at my washing machine and clear a clog. Thank you for all your help till the next project.

Super flexible and speedy. Helped us out with an additional minor issue with our washing machine despite us calling him for help initially with our garbage disposal. I couldn't be happier with the work he's done for us!

I need to have my washing machine services. It was not draining and was stopping before the cycle was complete. I contacted Sonic Appliance and I was serviced the same day. They also contacted me after the service to ensure my washing machine was performing correctly. They seemed more concern with my being satisfied then getting paid. I would definitely use them again in the future.

I'm very hesitant to hire pros to fix appliances because I feel as though sometimes there's a chance that someone may rip you off. That definitively was not the case here. My dish washing machine was broken and Mr. Voyo ran every diagnostic in front of me and explained what tests he was performing. He ran the simple wash to see whether water was entering in and out of the machine, which it was, so he explained that it couldn't be a plumbing problem since water flow was working. He then pointed out that the machine randomly stopped working when it came actually running a cycle, thus pointing out that it was a hardware issue. He ordered the part, showed us the price for the part he ordered (which no one ever really does) and then fixed the machine. Overall, I am EXTREMELY satisfied with his service. Super friendly and tremendously intelligent. Definitely will hire Mr. Voyo for any handyman need in the future.

We had A Preferred come out and repair an LG all in one washer dryer unit. Dupree Johnson was our technician and he provided outstanding service. He completed the job in a timely manner and also provided some very helpful tips on how to keep the machine running properly. Arrived on time and rates were very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Dan is awesome... He was prompt and the only reply I received from my inquiry through Thumbtack. His reviews were great so I didn't hesitate to contact him. Dan was able to show up the same day I reached out to him (at his specified time!)... He assessed the problem with my washing machine, which required he order a replacement part. He provided estimates along the way, which helped with my expectations. Dan returned to my home once the new part arrived and job has been successfully completed! I'm holding onto Dan's contact info for referrals to friends and/or for any future appliance issues I might have.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

    • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
    • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
    • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

    How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
