I first want to say Ed and his team were top notch from start to finish on my project. I initially had a 1500 square foot shed that was attached to my porch and once Ed's crew got finished I had them complete another demolition project at my residence over in Delaware. Not only did Ed take make sure that I was satisfied through every phase of the project, but he also out on site every day to ensure my utmost satisfaction. Whether it was the superb customer service or effectiveness to complete both projects, make sure you hire EBRR Logistics and Renovations for all your junk/debris removal needs!
I had a gas fireplace installed two years ago. Another contractor did the basic frame and sheetrock around the fireplace but didn't finish the job. Jenrri met with me in person to assessed the job and give a quote for the work. Jenrri was pleasant and professional and my two Westies both liked him. If they didn't like him I wouldn't have hired him. He said the front area around the firebox would need to have the sheetrock replaced with cement board. I was glad he knew this because not having the right materials could be a fire hazard. After meeting with him. I decided to hire him and planned for him to come Feb. 16-19, 2016 to do this job. He did this job with another worker named Melby. Jenrri and I had to buy materials from the store the first day, but Melby stayed and started working. He removed the sheetrock and also cut boards for the shiplap look I wanted on the upper front and sides of the fireplace. Jenrri and Melby completed cutting and installing about half of the boards the first day. They laid tile on the hearth and around the firebox. I had picked large tiles for the hearth and small tiles to go around the firebox. The small tiles took more time to cut and install. Some of the tile around the firebox doesn't lay completely flat because of the screws for the cement board and because the framing around the firebox wasn't level. If I had to pick again I would have picked larger tiles to go around the firebox. They would have been easier to install and wouldn't have shown that the firebox wasn't completely level. After the tile and boards were installed they painted all the boards and the two walls on each side of the fireplace. Then installed the mantle and touched up the painting. They did a very nice job cleaning up when the work was done and even put furniture and a rug back in place. They also completed the job on time. I am happy with my finished fireplace. It looks beautiful. Both Jenrri and Melby work hard and do a good job. Maybe if Jenrri did the whole project instead of finishing someone else's work it would have been perfect. I would hire him again and I would recommend him to others.
John listened carefully to my needs and then made good suggestions. I really needed my porches washed, one of which was fully furnished and had screens in between the areas needing washed. He saw what was needed, got to work and the results are great.
Dennis is the first contractor I have worked with that actually called me back. He is very prompt and very professional. His crew was very respectful of my property and cleaned up the job site at the end of each day. Eugene is one of the best carpenters I have had the pleasure to work with and the deck he built for us is the envy of the neighborhood.
Simply put - Deck Wonders provided us with excellent service and we look forward to hiring them for future flooring and/or deck needs. In fact --- after having our tile installed by Deck Wonders, we hired them for a second project installing beadboard in our laundry room. Deck Wonders is a great company to hire because they are affordable, communicate their schedule and needs properly, do the job right, and finish within a reasonable amount of time. All of these reasons were evident to my wife and I after Deck Wonders completed the initial tiling job we hired them to do. As with most home improvements, some issues don't become evident until after you pay the service provider. At that point you're either screwed because the company won't come back to look at whatever is wrong, or you'll have to shell out more of your own money to find a new contractor to correct the first contractor's mistakes. With our tiling job, we found a few issues with the transition strips between the carpet and the newly laid tile --- namely the corners on the strips were coming up. We notified Deck Wonders and they were able to come out a few days later and properly fix the transition strips at no added expense to us. What made their return visit even sweeter was that we asked Deck Wonders for a quote to install beadboard in our laundry room during this visit --- not only were they able to provide a very competitive quote but they started and finished the installation of the beadboard that afternoon! That alone left my wife and I very impressed.
Patrick's work quality and creativity are fantastic. He created custom shelves for us in a bathroom that didn't have storage, and the result is beautiful and functional and exactly what I wanted. I also asked him at the last minute to mount our TV over the fireplace, and he came MORE than prepared, with extra cables and parts, in anticipation of getting the TV up on our plaster walls but also minimizing the appearance of the cords. He's also extremely punctual, responsive, and professional. Highest of recommendations from me, and can't wait to work with him again on our next project!
Outstanding service. José arrived for our original appointment with vendors' books showing moulding options for window and door frames and baseboards. He listened to what we wanted to accomplish and recommended what we finally installed. The work was done quickly and professionally. Floors and furniture in all work areas were carefully protected, and were thoroughly cleaned at the end of each day. We were so pleased with the work on the trim that we asked him to install crown moulding in several rooms and to paint a majority of the rooms in the house. We were equally pleased with this work. The preparation and painting were excellent, and again the protection and cleanup of all the areas where they worked were great. Would not hesitate to hire José again, and would recommend his work to anyone looking for top-notch finish carpentry and painting. He was great with our dog who misses her new friend. Jose was flexible when we had a conflict. We are telling everyone we know about Jose. Call him, you will not be disappointed.
We hired Christian and 5th Gen to do a full gut of our kitchen including opening up a wall to our dining room, plus some work to better integrate the former sleeping porch at the back of the house. From the initial meeting, Christian seemed genuinely interested in our project and in being a good thought partner for us, and that continued throughout the project. 5th Gen is a small, family operation with all of the associated pros and cons. They are helpful, friendly, responsive, and genuinely invested. With limited capacity, it can be hard to nail down a start date, or someone gets sick and hard to reach for a day or two. As they so often do, our scope expanded in the course of the project (along with our budget), but in the end we are SO happy with our kitchen and dining area. Hector, our foreman, was great to work with, and supportive of every crazy question or idea we came up with. If anything, he let us add too much without reigning us in. If your budget is firm, we would recommend pushing for regular timeline and budget updates to ensure you stay on track -- we would have benefited from some earlier communication on that front. All fair and worth it, but would have appreciated more warning. The team seemed to take this feedback very seriously when it was provided, and seems ready to make the adjustments. If a small, flexible operation you can really work with is what you want, 5th Gen is a great choice.
Ramiro is a real pleasure to work with. Ramiro kept his promise, did a tremendous job with the project, and really cleaned up well at completion. Ramiro was also very fast to reply to my emails; I respect that very much. I was very happy with the work Ramiro and his team did for me. I will stay in touch with him as new projects arise.
Carlos was excellent!! I found other work for him to do while he was at my house because he was so good and very reasonable in his pricing . I was skeptical at first because he did not have a lot of reviews but every one he had was a 5. You won't be sorry if you use him, he just has not been on Thumbtack that long and therefore not a lot of reviews yet. I am glad that I went with him and have already recommended him to some friends. Carlos came on time, got to work and did exactly what I wanted. He actually completed the installation of my island light and my husband wanted it moved over 6 more inches. Carlos came back The next day and re-did the job with no issues. The ceiling doesn't look like he ever punched holes in it. He left the place spotless. Carlos put in an island light , replaced the kitchen area chandelier, removed a closet rack and patched that wall, replaced the outside light post, re-secured the powder room sink, replaced the patio lights and the porch light. He then painted all the areas where he had did drywall work. I then had him come back and install a light and switch under the step area. I already have a few other jobs I want him to do after the holiday. Below are a before picture of kitchen and after pictures
I am so glad I found Thumbtack! I had two small projects - deck repair and hanging a light. I tried for almost two months to find someone and finally discovered Thumbtack. Within days, I found the ideal Handyman and two weeks later, my projects are done! Matt Putsky of American Pride Handyman Services is the BEST! He was professional, thoughtful, arrived on time, and did great work. I like that he gave me a flat rate for the projects - he took his time and did them correctly, and I did not have to watch the clock. My deck project went over budget when he discovered two rotted posts on my stairs and had to make the risers himself. But it was ok and he gave me a fair price on those and the power wash, which I did not even request be done. The only break they took was to go the hardware store. They cleaned up after themselves and my deck looks great. He and his son, Josh, did a great job! I could not be happier. Thank you, Matt!
Elaine and i just want to take a moment to say "thank you" to gios builders for exeptional job in building our front porch and deck. We truly appreciate the professionalism, punctually and the respect to our property from the workers. We can not say anough about your sales rep. Giovanny. We truly appreciated his recommendation and suggestions which made our choice of materials and enjoyable experience durin our selections process. Giovanny left us with a since of confidence that we were in good hands. We apreciate his knowledge and expertise encouraged us to do business with gios builders
Blades cleaned up my yard to prepare for renting out my house. They mowed, trimmed, removed some plants, removed some raised beds and leveled that part of the lawn (and seeded grass), and installed some drain pipes to help resolve puddling I was getting in parts of the yard during heavy rains. They also power-washed the house, cleaned the windows, and checked the gutters (which as it turned out didn't need cleaning).
Tim creatively came up w/ solutions to 2 problem projects. Hanging a non-sagging curtain rod across sliding glass doors (w/ angled wall on 1 side) and not screwing it into ceiling. And to frameout a pegboard and put it on hooks that hang over a door--now I can hang my tools up in the rental apt w/out damaging the walls. He is a lovely person to work with as well.
I hired Paniz home improvement a few months ago to replace windows, doors and dry rot, They did an AMAZING job... Not only was the price good but they were able to start the job few days after I approved the estimate. Chris and his guys were very polite, always at the jobsite and kept everything clean. The job was done exactly on time. I will highly recommend This company to anyone. Thank you, thank you and THANK YOU!!!
Had a good idea of what I wanted but needed plans. Found these guys on Thumbtack. They moved our kitchen, put in a master bath. Repaired my brick porch, replaced main support beam in my basement added a shower downstairs. I definitely recommend these guys. Their quality of work is exceptional.
Good experience. Jeff showed up on time and did a fine job cleaning the gutters. Confirmed that good water flow was restored in each gutter after cleaning, and disposed of any mess. Considering the amount of work that was actually required to do this job the amount paid was probably a bit high, but Jeff had quoted the price beforehand and I had agreed to it, so no complaints on my part, he did the job that was agreed to at the agreed upon price, and was punctual and professional. Would definitely hire again.
Barton Construction was prompt, straight forward and easy to work with! I had a sidewalk put in for my front porch and the amount of detail and care that they took to make it perfect surpassed my expectations. Looking forward to hiring them for my back patio in the spring!! Thanks so much for your hard work and attention to detail.
Tom did a great job on some needed roof repairs at a reasonable price for a DC rowhouse. He is also knowledgeable about a wide range of other household jobs and was able to fix and help with several things around the house. Communication is not his strongest point as he has missed appointments without calling but if you can be patient its definitely worth it to have him help!
I had a few items from my home inspection that needed to be completed by a licensed contractor: reconnecting a duct in the attic, fix a piece of siding, replacing exterior trim, and replacing a sump pump. Kirubeil actually fixed the duct and siding during his walk through for the estimate and wasn't going to charge me even if I didn't choose him. His estimate was several hundred less than the other estimate I received. In addition, when replacing the pump, he took extra care to make sure it worked properly. At first it wouldn't shut off, but he stayed until he fixed it and assured me that if it became stuck on again, he would come back and replace the potential problem (a floater). Overall, he was very nice and easy to work with and he responded quickly to my text messages.
When I first contacted Hunter, they scheduled a visit to inspect the work and have a face to face discussion of what was expected. They arrived on time and after few minutes of discussion, they gave me an acceptable quote based on what the information they were given. They originally wanted to come back the next day to accomplish the task, but when I indicated a conflict with other commitments on my schedule, we were quickly able to arrive at an alternate date. On the agreed upon date, they arrived and promptly started to work. When they finished they presented a written invoice for the agreed upon price. They were very professional in every aspect. I have some other small projects that I will be contacting them about soon. As a retired person faced with health issues that limit my abilities to handle these small tasks, it is a relief to have found a dependable source for this kind of work.
