I've been an athlete my entire life, and as such, I am familiar with training from an array of backgrounds. I have never had training as successful and rewarding as the training I get here. The lessons you learn here will help you become stronger both physically and mentally, as you learn to push through barriers like never before. I can honestly say that I am the strongest (both physically and mentally) I have ever been.
Last Spring, I was pretty miserable. I was very overweight, very out of shape, and living with a lot of pain in my feet, ankles, knees and back. It was getting difficult to do the every day things I needed and wanted to do, and I was feeling lost. Exercise hurt too much which resulted in more sitting, more eating, and more weight gain. In a moment of motivation, I searched on Yelp for personal trainers near me and made a call to TruFit. I feel very lucky that Jaime answered the phone that day. We've been working together for 10 months now. In that time I've lost over 50 pounds, a few clothing sizes, and many inches. More importantly, my back pain is gone and I am back to hiking, walking, and I recently started running again. My joints feel much better and can carry me wherever I need to go. The best change is that my resting heart rate has gone from 84 beats per minute down to 63. I feel much healthier, happier and have a lot more energy. From day one, Jaime has been encouraging, motivating and challenging. Our workouts are always changing and I'm never bored. Jamie focuses on all aspects of health, not just our strength training sessions: nutrition, food habits, sleep, cardio, and more. He genuinely cares about me and is fun to work with. I have more progress I want to make; and I just signed with Jaime and TruFit Personal Training for another year. I'm looking forward to another year of success and finding out what I'm capable of next!
I enjoy running and yoga, but after finishing up physical therapy for an ankle injury I realized I needed some structure to improve my overall strength and mobility. Cornelius talked me through a fitness assessment and discussed my previous injuries (ankle and wrist). I've been training with Cornelius for the past couple of months, and have decided to increase from one session a week to twice a week. When working out, I have a tendency to push myself on things I enjoy (cardio and leg days) and to go soft on those I don't (abs!). Cornelius has been excellent at getting me to take appropriate breaks, keeping my technique accurate, and protecting my old injuries. He's also helped me to focus on areas for improvement and I'm really enjoying learning new skills. The gym we work out at is compact and convenient - it's usually just us in the early morning sessions and Cornelius is great company. Over the holidays I traveled a bit and he was very flexible about adjusting or skipping sessions. I also noticed that I'm feeling stronger and more confident when I work out on my own.
I'm a busy student and have been working out for roughly 2 years, I felt like the typical girl on the elliptical who just wasnt seeing any results. I wanted to stop wasting my time and thought there must be something I'm doing wrong here. Then I found Elins personal training I am so happy I hired him and his partner Kris, they have taught me so much already about proper form, breathing, different exercises, and actually how to use the machines, which i thought i knew how to use them before (well I didn't). They work with your level of fitness and don't try to set the bar above what you are capable of which I found to be a really nice change. I feel pushed just enough to keep motivated but not injured or want to quit. I look forward to more sessions with them and highly recommend their service!
This was my first time using a personal trainer, too. My kids, aged 9, 12, and 15, and I wanted to prepare for a hike across the Grand Canyon. We interviewed several trainers and hired Svetness in the end because 1) they required a 2-day a week minimum commitment - they didn't want to invest in us unless we were willing to make a serious commitment; 2) they offered meal planning guidance to coordinate with our training goals; and 3) they have a team of trainers so if one trainer wasn't a good fit personality-wise or not compatible with our busy family schedule, then there was always someone else to try. We were nervous that it might be too intense for us as becoming body-builders is not really high on our list of desired life-time achievements, but I can honestly say that misconception couldn't be farther from the truth. Over the course of a year we worked with 3 different trainers - all of which were great! They each had a different approach but we saw noticeable results with each. They all did a fabulous job of accurately assessing where we were physically and gradually build a plan for us so that we would improve our strength and endurance. The workouts were varied, so we were never bored, and they required us to use and build different muscle groups over time, fluctuating between strength conditioning and cardio. All of the trainers were WONDERFUL with the kids - modifying exercises so each of us could succeed and advance at our own ability level - and they kept it light and fun! Let's be clear, they worked us hard - oftentimes the kids and I would compare notes the next day about how sore we were! But the trainers were ALWAYS encouraging and never demeaning, no matter how out of shape we were or how much we struggled with an exercise. Worthy of note: we chose the 2-day-a-week commitment and made it a priority to exercise at least 3 additional days each week, which certainly contributed to our progress. With 30-40lb backpacks, we hiked across the Grand Canyon in 100+degree heat with ease. The kids improved drastically in their sports (baseball, basketball, and field hockey). We ran a 5K together (a first for all of us!) and made decent time. We weren't as sick this past year and have had more stamina in general. And as an added bonus, we have grown closer together as a family. This whole training thing has been a great experience for us - so much so that we have decided to continue with a second year with Svetness. Right now our training goal is just general fitness, with an emphasis on the things that will help the kids with their sports, but we are actively thinking about what our next physical challenge should be!
Mr. LaMont is a very knowledgeable & dedicated fitness trainer. He has gone above & beyond to put me in a position to succeed with my weight loss goals. He's a great motivator, as he does it in suttle ways to make yuu think about what you are or are not doing. He has some slogans that just make you shake your head in amazement & after you think about it, it makes perfect sense to you. He listens to my concerns & pushes me when I need a push. It has been a joy to work with him in helping me change my lifestyle to a healthy one. Best investment in myself I've ever made. Miss L. Jones
WORKING WITH BRANDON HAS BEEN MY BEST PERSONAL TRAINING EXPERIENCE: HE'S FRIENDLY, ACCOMMODATING, INNOVATIVE, AND MOTIVATING. I'VE HAD TRAINERS AT MULTIPLE GYMS AND LARGELY BECAME DISENFRANCHISED BY THE PROCESS BECAUSE EVERYBODY SEEMED TO USE ONE OF TWO MODELS: WORK ME UNTIL I DIE, OR COPY P90X. I CAN, AND HAVE, DONE BOTH ON MY OWN. THIS WAS NOT MY EXPERIENCE WITH BRANDON. FIRST OFF, HE ACTUALLY LISTENED WHEN I EXPLAINED TO HIM MY GOALS AND DESIRE TO DO DIFFERENT TYPES OF EXERCISES. FROM DAY 1 WE USED A COMBINATION OF WEIGHTS, RESISTANCE BANDS (WHICH I'VE NEVER DONE WITH ANOTHER TRAINER), PLYOMETRICS, COMBINATIONS, AND EVEN BOXING (YES, I SAID BOXING - ANOTHER FIRST). EVERY WEEK I COULD TELL HE PREPARED THE WORKOUTS SPECIFICALLY TO HIT CERTAIN MUSCLE GROUPS, IN A CERTAIN ORDER, AND IN DIFFERENT WAYS. HE WAS ALWAYS PREPARED AND NEVER JUST WINGING IT AS WE WENT ALONG. HE EVEN INITIATED A SATURDAY SESSION TO MIX UP OUR ROUTINE WITH SOME CITY RUNNING AND INTERSPERSED EXERCISES - IT WAS A GREAT IDEA FOR DOING SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND STILL GETTING A GREAT WORKOUT. BRANDON ALSO MET ME AT MY HOME AND WAS EARLY FOR EACH SESSION. WE USED THE FULL AMOUNT OF TIME FOR TRAINING, NOT CUTTING IT SHORT TO RUN OFF TO ANOTHER CLIENT ON THE TOP-OF-THE-HOUR. I FELT LIKE MY TRAINING TIME WAS MINE AND BRANDON WAS 100% THERE. I HAD TO CHANGE OUR SCHEDULED MEETING TIME AND EVEN RESCHEDULE SEVERAL SESSIONS AFTER THAT, BUT BRANDON WAS VERY FLEXIBLE AND KIND ABOUT IT. I HAD EVEN INJURED MY KNEE (HELPING SOMEONE MOVE) AND BRANDON STAYED IN TOUCH BY OFFERING ME TIPS ON HOW TO CARE FOR IT AS WELL AS SIMPLY CHECKING IN TO SEE HOW I WAS DOING. BOTTOM LINE IS THAT BRANDON IS DEDICATED AND YOU CAN SEE THIS EASILY IN HOW HE TREATS YOU, YOUR TIME TOGETHER, AND YOUR WORKOUT.
Very Professional , Will definitely get you results ! I joined Fitness Stop about 2 months ago, and I must say it has been a good decision. My goals were to get in shape, and lose some weight. A healthier lifestyle is a great byproduct of all these efforts. My diet has always been clean, but i hated going to the gym. Enter Garid, and Fitness Stop, I now love working out :) I've trained with Garid, and he is been amazing!! All of my training sessions have always been different, and never boring. He has pushed me further than I would ever push myself. You know you are making progress when you can endure more weights, or more strenuous cardio than what you could do some time ago. With Garid, I'm slowly but steadily seeing results like these. They are a little bit on the pricier side, but consider it a very good investment in your own self. I highly recommend Fitness Stop to anyone who is looking to lose weight, get in shape, or just looking for a better, healthier lifestyle !!
Arris is an amazing personal trainer and the perfect motivator to get off video games and screens for our 15 year old son who has special needs. He is patient but still challenges Zach to improve each session. Zach looks forward to his twice weekly work outs with Arris and has shown great results in his strength and endurance training. Highly recommended for anyone as a personal trainer no matter if you are training for a sport or simply want to get into better shape!
Tim was an excellent trainer. He always kept me motivated during our workouts and made it more fun then just the average exercise routine. He kept me focused and pushed me when I needed to be pushed. Tim also went above and beyond the training, helping me out with managing my food as well. Recommended great reading material to help me along with the training routine.
You cannot put a price tag on feeling the best physically you have in years. Aric has opened my eyes and subjected my body to a form of training that was entirely foreign to me (and will be to many other former athletes, weekend warriors, or sedentary desk workers), and yet something I now believe is absolutely vital to almost all human beings. Training with Aric will improve your FLEXIBILITY (increased range of motion, decreased pain, and increased strength through proper muscle function), BALANCE, CONCENTRATION (Train Mindfully as Aric would say), COORDINATION, and of course STRENGTH. An unanticipated benefit is that it may also have you BREATHING BETTER (improved endurance, less anxiety, more energy) than you ever have before. Here's a little about my story that may ring a bell to many people out there: I was a former college soccer player who had suffered a couple sport-related injuries left me unable to find my way back to the field for about 2 years. I had tried multiple physical therapists, chiropractic, you name it to regain my athletic prowess. What I DIDN'T realize that the things affecting me most weren't my ankle or knee surgeries, but rather the imbalances, weaknesses, and compensations I had developed from years of bad posture sitting in a desk job and doing traditional workouts at the gym. MANY IF NOT ALL of you have these without realizing it and you're robbing yourself of feeling and performing your best.To give you an idea of the types of issues I was dealing with and you may be dealing with here are a few examples: anterior pelvic tilt, shortened hip flexors, hip misalignment, tight neck, inflexible shoulders, tight pectoral muscles (thanks a lot bench press), weak core strength (six pack "abs" are not core strength), and more. These types of things DO NOT go away in a workout or two as they're built up over a number of years; your body is great at adapting (unfortunately in most cases with people who work a 9-5 at a desk this is a bad thing). I can pretty confidently say that Aric is one of the only personal trainers in the DC area adept at identify these types of issues, and coming up with the perfect plan to correct them. If you are an athlete looking to improve your performance or return after an injury, a sedentary desk worker experiencing back or knee pain, or just ANY HUMAN BEING give Aric a call. I guarantee that his breadth of knowledge and mindful training techniques will have you feeling better than you have in years. If you want an overnight solution I recommend you stop reading this right now and go back to whatever fantasy land you live in. If you're willing to be patient and put in the time and effort it takes to see improvement the RIGHT way (i.e. helping your body versus hurting it more through "traditional" methods) then I highly suggest you get in with Aric before his business blows up and he no longer has time for new clients. "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit." - Aristotle.
Helen is an awesome trainer:) Since I've been with her, my abs. look great and so, is my strength. The plans that she makes are excellent! They really help you keep track of your progress and achieve your goals! She listens well & definitely knows a lot about the best workouts to meet your needs! Her nutrition tips are also fantastic and have greatly reduced my fat! Thank you Helen. She's also flexible & accomodates her schedule to yours very well... Excellent trainer:)
Agnese is a very knowledgable, thoughtful and professional trainer. She met with me right away to start training immediately! I've enjoyed our workouts so much that many times don't even know we have worked out until my muscle soreness the next day. I feel as if she keeps close tabs on my progress and provides me with helpful tips during and outside of our training days! I appreciate her approach, Agnese is not forceful but instead very aware of what works for you. She listens and asks questions throughout the workout being mindful of your strengths, weaknesses and goals. I have a knee injury and she has been so helpful even in my rehabilitation by motivating and supporting mentally and physically!
When I went to my free workout to find out if this was a program I could do, I was skeptical. The workout was intense and being over 50 I thought I wouldn't be able to keep up. Well, after 6 months, I am still going strong and that is due to Trina, my instructor. She is great--she pushes me, and she tells me all the time that I can do it--she sometimes modifies the exercise until I can do the actual exercise. She never treats me as an older client, but a client that she knows can do the workout and keep up with her class. I feel very blessed to have Trina as my instructor. My blood glucose numbers are now in range since I joined Trina's class. I joined with my daughter, and when my daughter moved she couldn't attend anymore, but I am still going because I love the workout, but more, I love working out with Trina as my instructor. Also, my clothes are too big for me now. My body is more toned and I've lost weight. I went from a size 12 to size 10. I will continue this program because of Tyson training and especially because of Trina. I'm also trying to get others to join, since I talk about my workout all the time.
I worked out with Soup for a few months and then moved elsewhere and I wish that there was a Soup here! He is hands down on of the best trainers that I have worked with. As a former collegiate athlete, I have had a lot of trainers in my life and I can say that Soup has been the best. He not only managed what workouts that I would do, he managed my eating habits and how to get me back on track. He is very motivating and fun! He really cares about you personally and if anything is affecting you, he is the first one to ask. He focuses on what you want to change about your body and makes it a priority to help you. Soup isn't only focused on you when you are in your sessions, he follows up and holds you accountable outside the workout.
Derwent is the type of trainer others should aspire to be like. He is passionate about training clients and sets goals that challenge a person to meet and exceed their potential. He gives 100% of his attention and never appears to be rushing through the perscribed training program just to check the box and move on to the next client or task. He really cares about the success of his clients. Derwent is my professional trainer for life! I love the Renewed Fitness platform used to track workouts and check-in, in addition to being able to monitor my progress. My trainer can see what I'm doing and communicate with me in a timely manner. The video clips and other graphics that demo each exercise remind me to be focus of my form. I appreciate having the option to add exercises or move them to a different day when my schedule dictates.
The most amazing personal lifestyle experience you could ever ask for. If you are serious about changing your life and seeing the results call Chris, he's an expert at coordinating meal plans, budgeting, and caloric balances that caters to the needs of the workout plan you're in. Carbs, Fats, Omegas, Vitamins, Proteins, Chris will design a nutritional program that can nurture all kinds of foods and he can also personalize your training program. Super reliable, he always follows up, he's on time, and communicates ahead of time to if we have any difficulty with scheduling workouts. He sacrifices a lot to meet with me. He'll even work out with you. Flexible tuition payments.
If you want to change your body, live a healthier life and not hate your time in the gym…work with Gladiator Strong Fitness. Shawn is one of the best in the business of personal training. He doesn’t go through the motions and he’s extremely knowledgeable about what you need to do to be a better you. I’m in the TV news business and it’s important for me to have a personal trainer who is flexible with my changing schedule. Shawn is not only flexible but he’s able to come to you! I wasn’t sure if I had the equipment needed in my building’s gym but Shawn quickly reassured me that he can make it work no matter the gym. His experience and professionalism are refreshing and he provides the motivation to keep you going. The initial assessment where Shawn got to know me and my goals really set us off on the right start. The price of working with Shawn is one that can’t be beat. His rates are great and the best in the region. I have to admit when I picked Shawn, I like a trainer who is a model of his personal training. Shawn talks the talk and definitely walks the walk. I highly recommend Gladiator Strong Fitness.
I took a boot camp class from Silvia and several personal training sessions. Every workout was different and challenging. Silvia is motivating and focuses on training as well as diet. I just wish she could make all of my meals - she is also an amazing cook!
Leonard has taken what is for me a sensitive issue and treated it and me with respect, care and dignity. He's helped me find my footing to be successful at something that has felt impossible for my entire adult life. When I falter, physically or emotionally, he helps me get back up. These aspects of our working relationship weigh as heavily as his obvious ability to tailor a program to suit a person with diet and exercise. We are doing the online training and I've already managed to get further than I ever have before just in my own home using the trainerize and myfitnesspal apps. I weigh less than I did on my wedding day 8 years ago for the time since then! I grew to believe it was impossible, but now I know it is and having the guidance of Leonard is what makes it so. Highly recommended.
Folks, I cannot stress this enough. I am someone diagnosed with moderate/severe Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, which caused problems with my immune system, digestion, and weight. I am very proud and humbled whenever I receive compliments about my physique. But, the truth is, it has not always been this way for me, and I could never have done this without my friend and personal trainer of almost 8 years, Daniel T. Saunders. He is one of the best things to happen to my life in terms of the way I look as well as my overall health. I feel better — not just because I look better now — but also because my health is better than before. He helped me with my diet, he's worked with me through my hectic teaching schedule, rehabbed my personal injuries, and he's greatly turned my life around. Let me be clear: Doing it on your own and just getting any trainer at the local gym is NOT the same, and NOT even remotely as effective. The guy is certified in what seems like everything, he works with people of all genders, ages, and skill levels. He's excellent for those with past injuries, and for rehabilitating current/recovering injuries. Whether you're incredibly out of shape, or already active, he will change your life for the better just as he has changed mine. Do yourself a favor: Look him up, and contact him right now. Stop waiting for a weak excuse to get into better shape. When I say I owe my life to him — I mean it quite literally.
