Cesar was fantastic! Very professional, hung two pictures exactly how I asked and also touched up holes and scratches on my wall with spakling / paint. I will definitely be using him again and recommending him to others.
It was very easy & fast to hear back from this company and schedule the service while planning for the powder room remodeling project. We were moving the light fixture from wall behind the vanity to ceiling. Mr. Kirchner later returned to cut a piece of drywall to fit the opening on the wall, and spackled it. The spackling job could've been a little better, but I guess they are electricians, not drywall experts, after all. We hugely appreciated his effort and professionalism, nonetheless, and will certainly consider the company again for future projects.
I had a nightmarish safety-related electrical problem involving of all places, my childrens' bedrooms! I brought in 6 different electricians for quotes/opinions. Everyone else I talked to said it was impossible to fix without tearing down the plaster walls and suggested I either get really good smoke detectors or do something like power the rooms with extension cords!!! But Giovanni (Rolando G.) said "No problem, I can fix it. I do this work all the time." And he DID fix it. Correctly. On time. Without tearing down the walls! It was nothing short of a miracle. He saved the day! That is experience and work ethic for you, folks! Price was fair too. Now many of the other contractors I had working on the house have asked me for his contact information, and my real estate agent is referring her clients to him as well. And I am sleeping well at night. Will absolutely continue to use him in the future, and have already used him for other projects. He gets my highest recommendation for skill, professionalism, work ethic, ease of communication, value, punctuality, and the kind of rare expertise that comes from intelligence, know-how, and years of experience. Thank you, thank you!!!
I hired Nilto to "finish" a room in my basement which we were turning into a gym. He framed half of a wall, hung drywall on two of the walls and the ceiling, installed an outlet, built a small custom railing, painted the drywall, and installed rubber flooring. Nilto took time to discuss the project and make recommendations based on his expertise. He even came back to our house to discuss the project with my wife and ensure she was comfortable with the plan. The project took a few days longer than expected (mostly due to uncontrollable things like drying plaster...etc) but was still finished in a reasonable timeframe. I had to point out a number of things that needed to be fixed (small things like some screws were sticking out, a few anchors in our concrete walls needed to be removed, the baseboards were a bit crooked), but Nilto took care of them quickly and send pictures to me throughout the project to be sure I was happy prior to returning home from work for the day. Overall, the price was excellent and at that price, I am very happy with the work Nilto did.
Hired to mount my 65" LG OLED tv and soundbar onto a wall with metal studs, and also conceal all the wires. Tyrone took care of all of this with surprising ease, and completed this entire project in around an hour and a half. Was also willing to be very flexible with his schedule, which was much appreciated!
This company deserves overall a Zero! I hired them to help me move my 1 bedroom apartment from MD to DC. I should have cancelled it from the very beginning when they wanted to charge me extra money for using my credit card vs cash!!?? Moving day: The time for arrival was set for 4 pm. The owner kept on postponing the arrival time with various stories why they were being late. I told them we needed to be at my building by 8pm as that was the end of the moving in time window and the building loading dock was closing at that time. I send several texts and tried calling multiple times to the company. They arrived close to 7 pm. WE arrived at my building late. I had to waste my time looking for a security guard who was kind enough to cooperate with us and let us use another loading dock which was a real hike to my entrance ( another extra hour wasted) . My plants were broken and I feared other items did too. And I was right. I demanded discount for the service and to be also reimbursed for the broken items. we negotiated discount and as I was tired and frustrated i agreed to 15% off. As for the reimbursement, I was told to send them all the photos of broken items and estimated cost. I did. Even after a number of emails and phone calls and almost 2 and a half months after the service, I have not been reimbursed yet. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE
Alex arrived on time and got right to work. We already had the stand, just needed our TV mounted up on the wall. He did a great job and the TV looks perfect. He worked quickly and cleaned up afterward. His price was also extremely competitive with the others I received.
We hired RJA Floors to install two tile murals on the wall of Floris Elementary School as part of a school/PTA fundraiser. We needed the tiles to be handled very carefully because the tiles were all decorated by members of the school community (children, families, and staff), and we needed the installation to be completed within a short time so that the kids could enjoy seeing their installed tiles when they returned to school. Robert was wonderful to work with - he was responsive, provided a very fair estimate for the work, and completed the work on schedule, on budget and in a professional manner. He responded quickly to questions, made himself available to come to the school on three separate days to plan and complete the installation work, and was careful to install the tiles in the order requested. We'd highly recommend Robert and his team at RJA Floors in connection with any tile installation work.
Juan was very quick to respond, and he went above and beyond with little touches: instead of just patching a drywall hole, he spackled, sanded, and painted the small wall. He added stain to the false floor until my sink so it was a closer match to the cabinets. He worked longer trying to repair a bathroom faucet and didn't give up when a rubber gasket failed in a part previously (through no fault of his) and created more work. He finished ahead of schedule.
Gennaro came to our house to do some outside yard work including mowing, removing a fence and taking it to the dump and cleaning an area that was overgrown with weeds, bushes, etc. The thing that really impressed me was he took pride in his work and went the extra mile. I agree with all the other reviewers. He is polite and a pleasure to work with. Would I hire him again? Absolutely!!!!
I historically do not take time to offer reviews; however, the entire experience with Solcom (Veronica, Pablo, and technician) was exceptional and worth me doing so now! From the interactions through Thumbtack to the time they left our home after installing a 5.1 sound system and mounting a TV above our fireplace, Solcom was top notch. They accommodated our schedule (worked late to complete project), respected our home (maintained a clean workspace) and pricing was very reasonable. The workmanship was top quality (wife didn't want to see exposed wires). Pablo snaked new lines across the room and capped off very neatly from the walls. Additionally, Pablo's expertise to navigate my Denon unit was great. My wife and I HIGHLY recommend Solcom for your next home entertainment needs. They are a local Montgomery County business worthy of the community's support (and D.C. and VA)!
Glen was very knowledgeable and easy to work with. He was efficient and professional as well as very contentious about respecting my home (cleanliness, not marking the walls, etc). I would absolutely hire Glen again and will definitely recommend him to friends. An added bonus is that he's also very knowledgeable about the DC art scene and has several wonderful recommendations.
Mounted Flatscreen TV on the wall over my fireplace. To make it short and sweet. I requested the service through Thumbtack Sunday morning, they sent a reply within approximately 30 minutes. They were at my door that afternoon. Fast efficient very professional even patched up some holes in the walls that had nothing to do with the installation. Very impressed overall job well done. I will be calling them out again once my other flatscreen TV's arrive this week to mount them in the other rooms. Awesome!!!! Charnice
Great craftsmanship, professional, and easy to communicate with. Worked with my schedule to complete the project according to my timeline. My bed was put together perfectly, and headboard mounted into masonry. I find a common theme amongst contractors in that they don't clean up after themselves, leaving saw dust and waste materials for the home owner to clean. While I did have to do some fine tuning in the cleaning department, Trenton did at least attempt to clean up the area by picking up and disposing of the larger waste pieces. I would definitely hire him again.
Hugo and his helper wall mounted our new 55 inch tv. They installed a sound bar as well as an infrared sensor, which allows for hiding the cable box. They drilled holes into a cabinet we had purchased to hide the wires and equipment. A stereo receiver was also hooked up with 2 speakers installed in our kitchen ceiling and a volume control knob installed. All these improvements required cutting into drywall and patching, which were neatly done. Hugo also did the research for me about what equipment I needed to purchase, which was all online (no visits to Best Buy or other store of that ilk). The best thing, I have to say, is that Hugo came on short notice, in fact it was the day after Thanksgiving. The two men spent about 6-7 hours at my house and literally transformed it from 20th century technology to the 21st, all for $500. I think we got a great deal, and I hope to use Hugo for future projects. Finally, Hugo is very nice, pleasant, as well as extremely hard working and responsible. Thank you, Hugo!
I hired David at PTI to do a full wall installation of a new 65" flat screen at my house. David arranged to come out for the install just a day after I requested a quote, which was great as I was very interested in getting the tv installed before Thanksgiving. I had a bit of a unique circumstance with my existing cable installation but David assured me he had the right equipment to sort it out, and he did. David worked quickly and efficiently. We discussed the project as well as future plans I have for additional equipment (soundbar) and David recommended a strategy to minimize future rework. He was conscientious about keeping the work area clean and organized. He ensured the TV was installed plumb and level, and at a good height for viewing. And he labeled all the connections. I plan to have David back for some future home network work I need done.
Chris was a stellar professional! Our provided TV mount didn't fit our TV, but he was happy to go with us to BestBuy to get a new one - and when we decided we didn't like any of those, he sold us one he keeps with him. The TV looks great on our wall, and he was a pleasure to work with. Absolutely hire him for your project.
I'm so glad we went with John for our project! We needed our powder room off the living room repainted in less than a week because we had guests coming that following weekend. John was super flexible and patient with us throughout the process of us also simultaneously getting new ceramic tiles installed. We ended up paying him extra for his patients and willingness to do more. He did our ceiling, walls, trim, and door. He also installed a new light fixture, door knob and hinges, and patched up some spots the tile guys messed up. He even took some of our old renovation crap to the dump! Overall a great guy. We will definitely use him again in the future when we need more painting done. Fast, reasonably priced, and does a nice job.
Cristian and Victor did excellent work. I had several items that needed to be assembled and within a couple of hours they were completed. The moves the items to the desired location after working on them. They made sure to be careful of walls & floors. They were truly professional and courteous. I highly recommend them to anyone and will use the again in the future. Thank you for doing an amazing job.
Excellent workmanship. Rob is an excellent handyman, I had hired him to install a pet door in our sun room and I am so happy with the final outcome. His job is so neat and professional. He even went an extra mile, fixing our pet play pen, hooking it to the wall. I will definitely hire Rob in the future and I would highly recommend him for any kind of handy man work.
We hired Christian and 5th Gen to do a full gut of our kitchen including opening up a wall to our dining room, plus some work to better integrate the former sleeping porch at the back of the house. From the initial meeting, Christian seemed genuinely interested in our project and in being a good thought partner for us, and that continued throughout the project. 5th Gen is a small, family operation with all of the associated pros and cons. They are helpful, friendly, responsive, and genuinely invested. With limited capacity, it can be hard to nail down a start date, or someone gets sick and hard to reach for a day or two. As they so often do, our scope expanded in the course of the project (along with our budget), but in the end we are SO happy with our kitchen and dining area. Hector, our foreman, was great to work with, and supportive of every crazy question or idea we came up with. If anything, he let us add too much without reigning us in. If your budget is firm, we would recommend pushing for regular timeline and budget updates to ensure you stay on track -- we would have benefited from some earlier communication on that front. All fair and worth it, but would have appreciated more warning. The team seemed to take this feedback very seriously when it was provided, and seems ready to make the adjustments. If a small, flexible operation you can really work with is what you want, 5th Gen is a great choice.
