- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
On carpet take-up, my price is $2.00 per square yard and includes hauling and disposal of old carpet. Stairs are $3.00 "waterfall" and $5.00 fully upholstered per stair. I charge $4.50/ sq. yd to install plush carpets, and $5.00/sq. yd. to install loop carpets such as Berber. On laminate (engineered vinyl or hardwood) my price is $1.40/sq. ft., and $1.50/linear ft. to pull and re-place trim. I also install sheet vinyl, "loose lay" vinyl, ceramic and porcelain tile, Vinyl Composite Tile, and pre-finished and unfinished hardwood.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Ascertain the material, distance and processes the customer may have done and educate them about their chosen material and its pros and cons, pricing among various products, and my own recommendations.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
23 years installing and learning new techniques and materials, attending training conferences for new materials and their proper installation, but mainly working in apprenticeship for a year with a well-known expert installer.
