David was very professional. He responded very quickly every time we communicated and worked around my busy schedule. My carpets have never looked better. He got a red juice stain out of the carpet that has been there for nearly a decade. His prices were better than most of the other competition. Thank David!

Steve contacted me quickly and did an excellent job. I needed the job done Sunday and no later than early Monday morning to move some items and carpeting that had been removed off the porch of a Condo. The computer would not allow me to put in Sunday's date. It said the day was over. But Steve was accomodating and removed items immediately and accepted my same day out of town payment. It seems he has all around experience. He was pleasant to work with and I will contact him for estimates in the future.

Sara did a wonderful job on the deep clean of my house. She arrived right on time and got right to work. I was very impressed when I came home to find everything sparkling clean--the baseboards, windows, blinds, cabinets, etc. Her attention to detail was great. I didn't expect the beds to be made or the trash to be taken out but all of that was included too. The toilet paper was even folded into a triangle! While this was a special treat, I'm hoping to have more cleaning gifts from my husband in the future and I will certainly call Sara. We also have two rentals that get turned over about once a year and we will plan on calling Sara to get them cleaned up and ready for the next tenants. Thank you again!

We found ourselves in a tough situation when our basement flooded. We had to have all of the carpet removed and baseboards removed to eliminate mold. Marcus was asked to replace the custom 6in baseboards in a fairly large basement. He was easy to work with and worked around our schedule. He stained and installed the baseboards flawlessly giving our basement a very professional and finished look. He charged a fair price and even helped out by replacing some of the sheet rock with no charge at all. I would definitely recommend Marcus for construction/carpentry work and look forward to using his services in the future.

This the second time im using this company , they always come in time , they are very professional , this time I was kinda sick they have noticed that, and Tommy asked me to sit and relax ,and they completed the job in a very profissional way ,I had rug wanted to clean ,Tommy gave me the best price , and after they cleaned the rug it looked very clean as new , when he was leaving he refused to take the money and said this complementary from the company they used Hot Water Extraction , this the best way to clean carpet, advise before you hire any carpet cleaning company ,every one should ask what method they use and read the fine print on Groupon , and give the company a call before they buy it , I will always use CleanCo and will recommend it to every one , thanks CleanCo

If I listed all the good comments I have about John Gregg, it would fill a book. I nicknamed him my Angel Magician. I wanted the old insulation that had minor mold in my basement removed and replaced. I wanted him to tell me what else needed to be done to make things healthy and moisture tight. He immediately saw things that had been causing problems, and would have been MAJOR problems if I had waited till they were so bad that I noticed them. His team did the WHOLE job of not only the mold and scrubbing other parts and cleaning my vents, but also fixing holes , cracks, removing mold of outside of windows, which led (my idea) to power washing the stucco on whole back of my home and made it look brand new ! It was AWESOME ! Along with …. John is dependable, personable, returns calls quickly, communicates and is EXTREMELY knowledgeable. Oh… and the other estimate I got… was over twice the dollar amount and was not doing nearly as much. I am extremely glad I found John two weeks ago on Thumbtack. (and I am glad I got two bids !!!). Obviously I give him 5 stars. Only 5 cause there is not an icon for 100 stars. ~~~JKW

I was very, very pleased with the service. My carpets look fantastic. ASA Janitorial was honest with there assessment of removing a bad stain. However, it was completely removed. There were no hidden cost. Friendly & professional. I will give ASA the highest recommendations.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who cleans area rugs?

Like your carpets, area rugs should ideally be cleaned at least once a year to remove dust and dirt and help them last longer. In general, carpet cleaning professionals also clean area rugs. Some rug cleaners bring their cleaning equipment to your home, while others remove your area rugs and clean them at their facilities. Either way, the rug should be cleaned with the solution most appropriate to its specific fabric and construction. It should also be completely dry before you return it to the floor.

How often should carpets be steam cleaned?

Dirty carpets can be unhealthy for the people living in the home, particularly those who have allergies, so it’s important to have them cleaned regularly; simply vacuuming once or twice a week isn’t enough. Carpet cleaning should be done by a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year to remove grime and help extend the life of your carpet. Most carpet manufacturers recommend professional steam cleaning, which penetrates deep into the carpet fibers and lifts out both dirt and the pollutants that get tracked inside. Steam cleaning also removes most of the moisture, so carpets dry quickly enough for homeowners to resume using them the same day. Between professional carpet cleanings, your carpet may need an emergency spot cleaning. Pet accidents, food or drink spills, and more can often be effectively cleaned with some water and a drop of white vinegar, although many cleaners will also make house calls for smaller spills and hard-to-clean spots like wine or grease stains.

How much does it cost to clean a rug?

Area rugs are typically found in high-traffic areas of the home, like hallways and entryways, so they collect more dirt and stains than simple vacuuming can handle. Similar to carpet cleaning, professionals can come to your home to deep-clean your area rugs. The national average cost for rug cleaning ranges from $80 to $120, but may be higher or lower depending on the rug’s size and fiber type. Rug cleaners generally charge by the square foot; for example, a standard 8-foot by 10-foot rug costs an average of $100 to clean. Natural fiber rugs, such as wool or silk, are usually more expensive to have cleaned than synthetic rugs. A carpeting cleaning company may charge on average $1.50 per square foot to clean a synthetic rug, $2 per square foot for a wool rug, and $3 per square foot for a silk rug. Some delicate rugs need to be washed by hand, which increases the price. Carpet cleaning companies often offer additional services, such as removing odors or applying moth deterrent, which can add 20 cents to 25 cents per square foot.

How much does it cost to carpet a bedroom?

If you’re building a new home, remodeling, or ready for new carpet in your bedroom, you’ll want to know carpet installation costs. Here are the factors that affect the cost of your new bedroom carpet:

  • Installation cost per square yard: From under $2 to over $6. Carpet companies have a labor cost per square foot for installing your new carpet. Depending on where you live in the country, that rate can vary greatly. This rate does not include the cost of the carpet.
  • Type of carpet: from $1 per square foot to $20 or more per square foot. The fibers that make up your carpet will have a direct effect on cost. As an example, specialty wool carpets may start at about $10 per square foot, while a manufactured fiber like nylon may be about $2 per square foot.
  • Removal of old carpet: from $1 to $4 per square yard. Old carpet is labor-intensive to remove and also costs money to dispose of or recycle. The cost to remove carpet will depend on how much carpet you need removed and whether your installation pros offer a discounted rate for installing your new carpet at the same time.
  • Subfloor repair: from $40 to $70 per hour (plus materials cost). If the flooring underneath your old carpet is damaged, it must be repaired before the new carpet is installed. Many carpet pros can offer this service, or you can hire a handyman to handle the job.
  • Type of carpet pad: $1 per square yard and up, depending on the thickness. The cost to install carpet pad is typically included with the labor cost per yard of installing the carpet itself.

How much is the cheapest carpet?

If you’re looking to reduce carpet installation costs, there are several ways to save. Start by considering your carpeting needs. Manufactured materials such as polyester and nylon will be cheaper than natural fibers such as wool. From big box retailers, starting prices for olefin-based carpet are approximately 50 cents per square foot — making the cost under $5 per square yard. Indoor carpets made with olefin fibers are typically the least expensive on the market. Keep in mind that olefin fibers are not as soft on bare feet as other fibers, so are often used in areas like basements, playrooms or indoor patios. Nylon and polyester are good options to reduce carpet installation costs while still creating a cozy feel. The face weight, fiber construction and density of a carpet all affect the cost per square foot. The cheapest nylon or polyester carpets can start at just under $2 per square foot, making them about $18 per square yard. Lower-cost carpet tends to wear out more quickly and show stains more easily, so avoid light colors and vacuum regularly to keep the fibers clear of dirt that might age it too quickly.
