Introduction: Hello everyone, my name is Nathan Engels and I am the owner of Wellness League, a small and private one-on-one studio dedicated to helping adults reach their maximum functional potential. I have a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, and a master's degree in Aging Studies/Public Health Sciences from Wichita State University. I am also a Certified Medical Exercise Specialist, Orthopedic Exercise Specialist, and Health Coach all from the American Council on Exercise (ACE) accreditation. I have been working with adults of all ages for 8 years, and I consider myself more of a Wellness and Performance coach than a trainer. At Wellness League, our focus is dedicated to helping clients thrive both inside and outside the studio. Our coaching roster consists of a Doctor of Physical Therapy, a Kinesiologist, a Geriatric Exercise Specialist, several Exercise Scientists, and two Personal Trainers. We do lot's of community work, and I speak at several events throughout the year including the Positive Aging Conference at Wichita State, and the Sedgwick County Aging Summit. Your results are our daily focus, as I believe one's fitness journey must be practiced daily, with the understanding that it is a skill that takes time to master. REMEMBER:::fitness is a marathon, not a sprint! We keep track of our clients' nutritional progress through a portable phone app in order to make sure they are all achieving their goals and staying on point. Our mission is simple, provide HOPE and INSPIRE. We voice loudly that anyone and everyone can achieve fantastic results with a little bit of hard work and dedication. Our services are unique because we personally customize every program and every step for each client. This assures that ALL of our clients get results. We look forward to helping you begin the process of reaching your best version! I love the personal bond that is formed between the coach and the client. Our clients are like family, and I care just as much for their results as I do my own. I love enhancing the lives of the people I work with. After some initial observations, we create workout programs that are specified to your current fitness level. They are challenging, but addictive. And regardless of your fitness level, everyone is safe while training at Wellness League. We work with high risk populations, as long as individuals have a medical release. We never push anyone harder than they are currently ready, but with that being said, you will achieve levels of fitness that you never knew you could as the progression continues! That is the most rewarding aspect of coaching; watching our clients achieve their maximum potential. This happens regardless of their age or baseline fitness level.

Personal Training

I love Wellness League!! The personal training goes beyond the studio. They create routines to continue the training at home or other fitness centers. The trainers are involved in your life and help you achieve goals mentally and physically. They’re very optimistic and they truly enjoy you coming to train with them. It is truly a personal and amazing experience. If you join, be prepared to be pushed and not only to your limit, but to your goals.

Personal Training

I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Wellness League and with my trainer, Tony. When I first started at Wellness League, Nate met with me one on one to discuss my goals and current health. He then passed me to one of his awesome trainers, Tony. Tony has been a fantastic trainer. He has helped me in accomplishing my goals, greatly increased my strength and stamina, and has become a good friend. I would highly recommend Wellness League to anyone who is a little lost on how to properly get the workout they want or just need some added motivation.

Personal Training

Amber has been amazing! My goal is to go up the .8 mile incline walk to 7 falls and then up the 224 steps after. Every session we work on the steps. I’ve had knee surgery on both my knees, and she knows how to accommodate that issue. I’ve only been with her for 5 weeks and already feel stronger and she’s been increasing me each time! I’m so happy to have found wellness league and be on the path to a better me!

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Our standard pricing is $45 for a one hour session if you train once weekly, $40 per session if you train twice weekly, and $35 per session if you train three times weekly. We also offer 30-minute sessions for $25 per meeting. I encourage clients to consider booking a group session, which is the cheapest route to go. We charge $70 total for a group of two, $90 for a group of three and $100 total for four people. This can be divided equally among the participants for a great discount. So bring a friend, the quality will not suffer!

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

When a client first begins their training, our coaches use the first couple of sessions to establish a baseline for their current level of fitness. From there, we customize a program that is geared toward their personal goal, whether that be weight loss, toning, or improving health outcomes and reducing disease risk. We work relentlessly to help you achieve whatever you desire, of course within reason (everything takes time). The workouts are challenging, but over time, our clients will begin to feel stronger, more mobile, and more confident that they can achieve their final goals because they start to experience real time results. Once on our roster, you have unlimited access to your coach. This is mostly achieved via phone calls, text messages or emails.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Our coaches all have either a bachelor's degree in Human Performance Studies (Exercise Science) or Kinesiology, as well as a number of accredited certifications. Personally, I have a master's degree in Aging Studies/Public Health Sciences, and both a Medical Exercise Specialist and Health Coaching certification from ACE.
