FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Even before real estate issues were common place in the news media, I found it important to stay on top of this ever evolving profession. Kentucky requires 6 hours minimum education per year to remain licensed. I usually exceed the number of hours required by double that number. I'm also an education provider in the real estate and home inspection professions.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My husband and I were looking to buy our first home in the mid 80's when interest rates were varying from 15-18%. (CAN YOU IMAGINE!) At the time, VA offered a lower interest rate, so that is the loan we were working on. Also, that was also a time when you couldn't apply for your loan until AFTER you were under contract to purchase a home. The agent we had kept taking us to homes that were outside our affordability because of the high interest rate. We eventually met someone else who would listen to us! We got our home! It was then I decided I'd like to be a Realtor because I knew how important good customer service is and that I could provide it.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Realtors are the only profession I know that works many hours to get a transaction to the closing table without getting paid until it closes. We put a lot of trust into our customers that they will be loyal to us, as much as we are loyal to them, to see the transaction completed. We are commissioned paid only. And the amount of commission a buyer and seller sees on the settlement statement when they close is NOT the amount the Realtor will receive. That is their company's money! When I'm working with my customer/client, I do my best to make them feel as though they are the most important person to me.
