FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
During the 9 month school year, I use an even billing system. Tuition remains the same each month, regardless of how many lessons occur during the month. Tuition for a half hour lesson once a week is $96.00 per month. Students average 4 lessons per month. During June, July, and August, I charge by the lesson. I offer discount to families who have more than one student and to students who take 45 minute or one hour lessons.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to talk with potential new students to answer any questions they may have regarding music study. If a student has studied in the past, I like to find out about their musical background and what sort of music they like to play.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a B.M. in piano with a violin minor and a M.M. in music theory. I have been teaching private piano and violin for over 35 years. I am a former violinist with the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra. I have also worked as a free-lance violinist in Lexington and Northern KY. I have worked at the U. of Cincinnati as a dance accompanist and at NKU as a children's choir accompanist. I taught Kindermusik classes to young children and their parents for 11 years. I have worked as a parent educator through La Leche League for 13 years. I also ran a cooperative preschool and have spent many years as a parent volunteer with the PTA when my children were young. I have raised two daughters, both of whom are involved in the arts. My older daughter is a trombonist and my younger daughter is a singer/dancer/actor based in Manhattan.
