I hired Harden Enterprise, Harold to be specific to help me with my gutters and draining system. Harold initially cleaned out my gutters and made some recommendations for future work that I may be in need of. I procured two other estimates and decided to hire Harold even though he was not the lowest bid. In the end I was for all intense and purposes pleased with the quality of the work that he provided. There are always questions that arise after the work is done and I have a few that I would be interested in asking. JH

Mike was prompt, courteous and professional. He did an excellent job on my needed drywall repair and completed it in one day. His pricing was much better than other contractors that contacted me. I will look to have Mike do other handyman work in the future.

Julio is the most responsive contractor I've ever worked with! He is quick to reply, shows up when he says he will, gave us a fair price, and did FANTASTIC work!! I hired him to replace two walls in my kitchen with Hardie Backer Board prior to cabinet and tile installation and to repair/patch holes in the drywall from renovations and moving electrical plugs and lighting. We painted last night and cannot begin to tell where the patching was done. The work is flawless. Julio is a super nice guy and made a stressful time during an extensive renovation much more pleasant! Looking forward to having him back in 6 weeks or so to install the wall tile as we wrap up the project.

Very reasonably price, extremely respectable. Work was above expectations. They ran into some unforeseen issues with my framing in my basement but did not stop until the job was done correctly and right. Was updated daily on progress of job. All drywall and mud are seamless. My plumbing lines work great and have no signs of leaks. All 7 doors installed open and shut great. I will definitely recommend this contractor to friends and family

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What are plumbers and what do they do?

Plumbers are skilled professionals who are trained to install and maintain pipes and systems for drinking water, sewage and drainage. They usually have trained through four- to five-year training programs, which include apprenticeships, via trade schools and community colleges. Plumbers’ areas of expertise typically go beyond pipes to include mathematics, blueprint reading, plumbing codes and water distribution. They handle plumbing emergencies, such as broken pipes or clogged drains, and install and maintain everything from a new piping system to a replacement faucet. Plumbers also know how to install bathtubs and showers, toilets, water heaters and dishwashers. Plumbers may work on residential or commercial sites, sometimes designing and laying out a pipe system during construction.

How do you find a good plumber?

Whether you need a plumber to perform drain repair, install a new fixture, or replace rusty pipes, you need to make sure you hire someone reliable who will finish your job on time and within budget. Start by asking the plumbers on your short list these questions:

  • What is the total cost? Make sure your estimate includes materials and labor. Find out whether the plumber will be providing the materials and whether you’re being charged an hourly rate (which is variable) or a flat fee.
  • Is removal and cleanup included in the job? Some plumbers leave behind old parts, while others include the cleanup in the cost.
  • Is the work guaranteed? Find out whether the work (as well as the parts or fixtures) are guaranteed under a warranty.
