Introduction: My greatest strength as a computer tutor is my ability to understand your current skills and needs as a student, and to offer the information that you need, in a way that makes sense to you.
I am a patient teacher, and I always make sure that you are learning by sitting at the controls of your computer and taking on real tasks that have relevance in your life.
Before our lessons I will research and prepare to help you with your particular needs. After our lessons I will send you detailed notes on the skills we learned, so that you can review and practice. Also, I am happy to offer brief phone support between lessons at no charge.
When my students are confident using the computer, comfortable with their smartphones, and done being stressed about technology, I feel so much joy. The only measure of my success, is your success using technology in a way that improves your life.
It's a true privilege that I can help my students move from a place where their computer has power over them, to a place where they are in charge of their digital life.

I worked with Harry Alper, The Tech Tutor, for approximately 6 sessions. I felt I was being controlled by my technology, especially my iPhone and laptop, and I wanted to end the power struggle! Harry was fantastic. I came to him with a long list of issues and we worked through all of them, plus a lot more.
Each week, Harry asked what my goal was and he came prepared to attack that goal. Often, this involved some outside research on his part, and he was always prepared with resources that we could go to for assistance. Each session was very productive.
As a teaching veteran (30 years classroom experience), I can say with certainty that Harry is one of the best teachers with which I have had the pleasure of working. He meets his clients where they are with technologically and helps them progress beyond that place. I now feel confident and in command of my phone and laptop. Harry is also very patient and really listens to one's concerns. After each session, I practiced a bit and then at the subsequent session was able to ask more questions if I encountered difficulties. Harry also emails a summary of items discussed at each session to the client. That way, one doesn't have to frantically take notes while learning. This allows clients to take full advantage of the entire session, yet still have a record of what was learned to refer to at a later time.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about my experience with Harry Alper! It is money well spent for anyone interested in getting a handle on all of the things that are causing frustration with technology.
By the end of the sixth session, I had checked everything off of my list, plus a few more items. Harry is very knowledgeable and still speaks in a very clear and undestandable manner. He also emails clients between sessions to see how they are progressing.
Bottom line--call Harry Alper! You will not be disappointed.

I am an architect with my own small practice. I have an IMac purchased in 2007. I use the Mac for all of my business & personal needs. But it was slowing down. I thought I needed to replace it. Harry came to my office, looked at my Mac desktop & asked me what problems I was having. He then proceeded to clean up the desktop, deleting folders I no longer needed, all the while explaining to me what he was doing, why, & how to do it myself. He made notes the whole time, printed them out & emailed them to me to help me remember what we did together. And best of all, he diagnosed that my Mac needed more memory, he called a computer repair shop, asked them if they had the memory chips that I needed, how much adding additional memory would cost, and the next day, I took the Mac to the shop & memory was added. Now my Mac runs fast & seems like a new computer without having to buy one.
I would use Harry again & recommend him highly.
