Heidi has been walking my dog Ivan 5 days a week for several months now. Ivan loves her .. she also has fed my cat when I was out of town for a couple weeks .. Sashie loves her too .. she spends a few minutes giving Sashie her pets before putting her food down. If you are looking for a reliable pet walker or sitter I don't think you will find better than the "Uptown Girls Pet Sitting".

I hired Kanine Krewe when my regular cat sitter was unable to help me on Memorial weekend. I was scrambling to find help and they were happy to do a last min interview and booking. The advertising had focused so much on dogs I had been a bit worried if they were able to work with cats, but my cats loved Kelly! She even made sure my bully cat didn't eat all the wet food! She took all the stinky garbage out of the house and washed all the cat food bowls, and my cats were calm and happy when I got home. Everything was above and beyond what I could have asked for. And the pricing was even at a better rate. I can't thank them enough...they have my business for good!

My deepest thanks and gratitude to Bluetails pet care and animal rescue! They took such great care of Mookie while we were away! Our boy is a nervous pervis and needed a home style environment rather than what I think of when I think of traditional boarding, and that's exactly what he got, a loving home and lots of affection! Courtney who runs it is very professional, but in such a warm and caring way, and she has a very high dog IQ. Courtney went above and beyond to keep in touch during Mook's stay and update us with pics and videos, and you could see as days went on Mook was totally relaxed and being his usual lovebug self, so we know he was getting constant attention. We will DEFINITELY be turning to her again when we need to go away. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND Bluetails to everyone who may need to board their four legged baby!

Shelly takes care of my cat and two dogs with three times a day visits. She feeds, walks, and entertains them. She contacts me daily with text messages and pictures. I have never felt more confident in leaving my home and pets to any other sitter. She is an experienced, knowledgeable, and loving pet person.

Laura was extremely responsive to our messages and we chose her to care for our cat. My boyfriend was very nervous leaving the cat and Laura made the whole experience run smoothly. She visited daily and our cat (Kennedy) absolutely loved her. She sent photos and messages after every visit and our cat seemed very happy with her. She was so nice that she left a catnip toy that he is OBSESSED with for him to play with. We would 100% recommend Laura to anyone looking for a pet sitter in the New Orleans area, and will not hesitate to hire her again if needed. Thank you so much Laura!!

We've known Cambre since she was a vet tech at Audubon Veterinary Hospital and she provided immaculate service & care to not only our felines, but every animal that crossed her path. She became our pet sitter immediately upon opening this business. How awesome that our bebe`s do not have to go through what used to be a traumatic boarding experience, but get personal visits, playtime & provision from such a loving and lovely person! She cared for Billie Holiday & Francis Poulenc until their passing (at 11 & 12 years of age). She cared for Bootsie until her recent passing at age 18+. We have continued joy and peace of mind that she cares for our newest additions to the family, Josephine & Theodora Louise! We are smitten with them and we're all smitten with Cambre! With much appreciation & gratitude - Love you!

June helped me take care of my elderly mother at my her house. She would go 2-3 hours a day, 3 days a week. She would take my mother to the doctor or to the store and she would also do light housekeeping for her. June is a very caring person and she used to make my mother laugh which made my mother feel much better. if she saw something that needed to be done she would do it, you could say she was a self-starter. She was always on time and available when I needed her. I couldn't have taken care of Mom without her.

Michelle took very good care of my 3 dogs while I was on a 7 day cruise. She was very professional and had documents created just in case she needed to take my dogs to the vet. She treated my pets like her very own and gave them lots of love while we were gone. I definitely recommend her to anyone who has one or multiple pets! She did an awesome job and house sat for me also!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

  • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
  • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
    • 45-minute visit: $28.
    • 60-minute visit: $32.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
    • 12 hours: $100.
    • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
