We used Tech-Pro to repair and upgrade a laptop machine following a virus infection. They were fast friendly, provided excellent communication, and the computer is better than new. I recommend this group without hesitation.

Gianni Palermo and his crew have worked with us for over 2 years completing the renovationn of our 3000 sqft townhouse. His work without exception has been of the highest quality. From repairing the roof, to refinishing the exterior surfaces to fine interior finish work, his professionalism, attention to detail and artistic abilities are evident at every stage. He takes pride in every task and will not settle for less than perfection. He is skilled in all phases of construction, including plumbing and electrical, for which he has the required licenses. His pricing is very reasonable and he is scrupulously honest and fair in all his transactions. It is very unusual to find such a combination of skill, creativity, artistry and can-do attitude. We give him the highest recommendation possible.

Marcello and his crew were outstanding- look no further. Extremely professional, prompt, reasonably priced, high quality work and great follow-through. Stop looking, Bilt-rite has been my choice ever since. He has provided comprehensive construction services as well, based on how satisfied I was from the concrete repair and staining job he did. I highly recommend Marcello with Bilt-rite and would recommend him without hesitation- outstanding job, high quality craftsmanship and very dependable. A rare combination these days in the field of construction.

Working with Bill has been a pleasure. He has been quick to respond and professional. We are working to repair a water damaged home long distance and he has been extremely helpful and has gone out of his way to meet with our insurance adjuster. He also is more than knowledgeable enough to discuss the relevant issues such as acceptable levels of moisture in the home. He has made the process much less stressful than if we were handling things on our own. I am a real-estate investor and finding people who do what they say they are going to do has become increasingly difficult. I am grateful to have found this company and plan on using their services for future projects. Additionally, I would sincerely recommend them to family and friends in need of a contractor.

I had an old garage that had a rotten roof and was slanty and unstable. Mark and his family racked the slanty wall straight, replaced all the bad wood and rebuilt the roof. The wall is now straight and sturdy. They knew exactly what needed to be done and did everything properly and promptly. They were a pleasure to work with and gave me some tips on some other projects I had going and even let me use a few of their tools. I would definitely recommend them for any home repair and renovation. I will use them again.

James and Curtis from C Force Construction did an amazing job! Super fast response time and EXCELLENT work. The painted our rental unit, replaced our 8' privacy fence, replaced windows, fixed drywall, completed electrical repairs, and James built a beautiful Cypress frame and mantel for one of our fireplaces. All of this was done in just a couple evenings work! They are very professional and were so much fun to work with. I could not recommend them more!

We hired Erix Garcia to install our kitchen floor. It turned out so great, that we will be hiring Erix to install our drywall, do the painting, and we are also going to hire him to do flooring in the main areas of the house. Very nice young man, very digilant hard worker. Came on time, and if he was running late, he called to let us know. So glad to have a contracter we can depend on. Thank you, Erix. Very knowledgeable, professional, and thorough, also leaves the space clean. Mr. Handynola can design it, and build it. Big or small. He has done multiple projects for me: fences, faucets, roof repair, doors. You won't be disappointed and you will call him back.

We hired SEC HomeRemodeling to repair and remodel our bathroom floor and shower surround. The subfloor had rotted away under our existing 50 year old tile floor in our sole bathroom. Paul and Todd fixed the structural problems under our floor (repairing/adding floor joists, installing new subfloor) and now we have a beautiful, solid porcelain tile floor. They also remodelled our tile shower surround and installed a new tub and bronze shower hardware. We love our new bathroom. You can see the handmade quality work and the attention to detail that Paul and Todd put into our project. Our remodel came in on budget and was completed a few days earlier than the estimated time. We put our trust in this company, and they respected that trust. Overall, we had a great experience with SEC Home Remodelling, and we will use them for future projects.

I had two Sunrise noise reduction glass windows installed in my bedroom. They work great, and are cheaper than other companies' soundproof windows. I live on a flight path, and my neighbor's F150 is parked right outside my room, so the noise woke me up a lot. Now it doesn't! The windows took a little longer to come in than I was told, and I had to keep checking on them because I was not kept updated. But once they were installed, I was happy with them. Picture is of the 6 ft long window.

Johanna and Julio are truly amazing. They contacted me immediately , went to the job site same day to discuss pricing and procedures. The following day, they went to the job site and completed the work in just a few hours. Johanna, kept me informed every step of the way by texting me and status photos from start to finish. After 3 months, and 3 different contractors flaking out, it is so refreshing to know that good people do actually exist. I will call on Johanna and Julio for my next project. They took the hassle and confusion completely away from me.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you replace a window?

You may want to replace a window if the glass has been damaged, you’re remodeling a room, or you want to upgrade your energy efficiency as well as your style by getting rid of those drafty single panes that are losing you money. When replacing a window, you can remove and replace the entire window down to the house frame. This method is best if the existing frame is damaged or deteriorating, but requires construction skills and know-how and will take more time and money. An easier and less expensive option is to install an insert replacement window into the existing frame. Insert replacements are only an option if your window frame is in good condition without rot or damage.

When replacing an entire window, first you’ll carefully remove the existing window with a pry bar and other tools. Next, you’ll make any repairs and adjustments needed to the existing frame or header and studs to ensure that the space is perfectly plumb and square, so the new window will sit perfectly within the space. Next, install the new window from the exterior, securing it into place. You’ll need to precisely wrap and insulate the window to ensure it doesn’t leak. Then, install the interior casing and exterior trim (as needed). If you prefer to hire a professional to install a window, consider replacing more than one window at a time, as the pro can work more efficiently.

How much is a custom window?

Choosing custom windows will increase your window installation cost but will provide you with exactly what you want. The average national cost for window installation is $2,650. Your custom window costs will vary based on several factors. The first factor is the type of frame you want. The four most common types of frames are vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum and wood. Wood is typically the most expensive option, followed by aluminum. The type of glass you select will also affect cost. There are single-, double- and triple-pane windows. Most double- and triple-pane windows have gas sealed between the panes that act as insulation. Windows typically cost more the more energy-efficient they are, though this efficiency can save you money on utility bills in the long run. The type of glass used can also affect cost. There are different grades of glass — high-performance glass, low-e coated glass, and more — which all provide you with better insulation. In addition, the number of unified inches (window height x window width) you need will affect cost. The cost of custom windows will also be affected by installation cost and whether any repair or construction work is required to properly fit the new window.

How much would it cost to put in new windows?

The cost to replace a window can vary depending on factors such as window size, type of glass, brand of window, necessary trim repair, and any construction work required for installation. Labor rates and cost to do business in your region will also affect the cost. The national average window installation cost is $2,650 per project. Here are some examples of average trim repair and window replacement costs:

    • Trim repair:
      • Line and case a window frame with an MDF product: $400.
      • Line and case a window frame with raw hemlock wood: $500.
    • Approximate cost to install five windows at one time: $3,000.
    • Approximate cost to install one double-hung, energy-efficient 3-foot by 4-foot window: $500-$550.
      • For the same window size (3-foot by 4-foot) from a different manufacturer made with a specialty fiberglass exterior and all-wood interior, the cost could go up to $1,500.
      • Pricing can go as high as $5,000 for a bay or bow window with specialty glass and framing.
        • These examples include removal and disposal of old materials and window.
