FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
First lessons with me are completely free! Hour-long lessons are $60 each. 30-minute lessons are $40 each.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It usually takes a couple lessons for me to gauge a new student's skill level (if they have some prior experience) before I can develop a solid lesson plan. Lessons are supplemented with take-home practice materials including rudimental exercises, coordination exercises, examples of grooves in different styles, and play along tracks. Since everybody learns differently, I prepare several different ways to explain the same concept. If a student is an absolute beginner, we start from the ground and work our way up: how to hold the sticks properly, basic rhythms, fundamental coordination, common sticking patterns, and how to read music.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing the drums since 2001. I participated in practically every available ensemble in elementary, middle, and high school. When I was 16, I started gigging around Philadelphia and southern New Jersey. I graduated summa cum laude from Berklee College of Music in 2014, where I studied music business and drum set performance. I am very active in the Boston music scene and regularly collaborate with local drummers and musicians. Currently, I perform with two Boston-based bands; Vitamin Sun and GEPH. I began teaching drum lessons in New Jersey in 2009, and have been teaching in Boston since early 2015.
