Introduction: I like to cater my lessons to each student individually. Some teachers have a standard syllabus that they force all their students through, in my experience that isn't how students learn as well as they can. I pride myself on lessons that are as fun as they are educational. Learning an instrument is something that one has to enjoy to want to do. I also make myself available to answer questions via text or phone call should you have any trouble with the material you're learning. I love seeing my students be able to do something that they maybe couldn't the week before.

I've really enjoyed drum lessons with Gavin. He is a great drummer and funny guy! I don't have a drum kit and he is still able to give me assignments that help me progress each week. He is very clear and lessons have been focused. He teaches out of a space that has two drum kits which is really helpful since we can both play at the same time. I'm learning a lot!

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

When I taking on a new student I like to find out what their current experience with the instrument is and what they are interested in musically. It makes practicing scales and rudiments much more fun if the student knows that it's in service of learning to play the style of music that they love.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I've been playing drums since the age of three, and have been a professional musician since the age of 16. I also attended the prestegious Berklee College of Music, and was lucky enough to study with some truly amazing musicians like Mike Mangini and Livingston Taylor. Outside of my schooling, I am also in an internationally touring rock band named Bent Knee.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I teach students of all ages and experience levels. My youngest student is 3.5 years old, and I have also taught people well into their 50's.
