Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I work closely with my clients to help them create a room they love using furnishings they already own. By correcting the 10 most common decorating mistakes, I help clients reach their full design potential in just one day. I love watching my clients fall in love with their own home. Sometimes people just need a little design guidance. It's amazing what we accomplish in a short amount of time. At the end of each day my clients and I are excited and inspired and I'm ready to do it all over the next day!

Tess was wonderful to work with on our bathroom renovation. She has a magical ability to draw out your own design style, making the process interesting and engaging. For our bathroom project, Tess developed a design plan that was consistent with our goals for an ocean inspired room that would fit into a very traditional house. Tess helped us select a color scheme, designed tilework and a wainscoting treatment that work to create a lovely cohesive look and integrates beautifully with the rest of our home. Additionally, Tess helped me shop for fixtures and floor tile. It was such a pleasure to have someone with me, to keep me from being overwhelmed by all the choices! I loved working with Tess and recommend her highly!

After twenty-three years in my little house, I could not bear walking into my livingroom/diningroom any longer. Tess came over to do an evaluation for me and asked if she could please spend a half an hour alone in the space to get sense of me and the possibilities for my home. I have a lot of "chachkes" and antique-y furniture (which sometimes makes my husband crazy). After a while, Tess called me back in, and she held out two arts and crafts decorative tiles that I have of trees, mountains, and a river in gorgeous earth tones. She said "this is who you are, isn't it?" I burst into tears. She literally hit on the essence of who I am and in that moment defined an entire style and palette of colors that ultimately brought together our entire space. Tess was delightful to work with, creative and fun, and PATIENT. She worked very hard to ensure that both my husband and I were happy and comfortable with our choices. We had a blast shopping for furniture, choosing material for new curtains, and, most importantly, finding the right paint colors that would complement our pottery collection and furnishings. In addition, she completely reorganized and revitalized our space and created a wonderful, cozy sitting area that helped redefine our livingroom/diningroom. I am incredibly grateful to Tess for transforming our home. She took as much pleasure in the result as I did, and it was clear that she was highly invested in making our home look and feel fresh and wonderful for us. I highly recommend working with Tess! Not only will she change your home and your life, but you will gain a delightful, generous new friend.

It began with tears in my old favorite chairs and ended in a comfy new space. Tess from Ruby Shoes Redesign helped me transform this room. It was a fun and relaxed process. We shopped together for new chairs and a rug and added custom designed shelving. The best part was rearranging my art and trinkets to create a relaxed and inviting study. We pulled from boxes and closets finding places for favorite pieces. I highly recommend Tess and Ruby Shoes Redesign for those who want to spruce up a room, or two!

Tess is a fabulous interior designer. She led us to color choices we wouldn't have ordinarily considered and was extremely helpful in informing our furniture choice. What was most helpful was that Tess was ready, willing and able to work with the flooring and countertops already here -- things that weren't in the budget to change yet -- and gave us great suggestions on how to update on a budget.

Tess helped me transform my living room from a place that had accumulated an uninviting collection of furniture into a comfortable and functional space. Challenged by a small space and not a clue as to where I should start, Tess identified what pieces should stay and what needed to go. Then she identified where to place the remaining pieces and exactly what (specific fabrics, colors, shapes, etc..) I needed to get in order to fill in and round out the room. For a spatially- and artistically-challenged person like me, Tess was a lifesaver. I love the results and I couldn't have done it without her!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

For a Room Redesign I charge by the room according to it's size. That way, we can spend as much time as needed to rearrange, re-do, chat about my client's vision etc. without worrying about the hourly clock. Many times, I will also accompany my clients and do accessory shopping with them (or for them) on another day. I only schedule one appointment per day so that I can give as much attention as is needed to each client.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Most often, my clients have a somewhat limited budget, but they wish to have a comfortable and beautiful home. Often, our relationship will start with a simple paint consultation, and end with a wonderful room redesign. Clients can't believe what a big difference a few easy changes can make!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I would like my clients to know that I understand it is nerve-wracking to open up your home to a stranger, especially when the design of your home doesn't reflect who you are! I would like to reassure my clients that everyone has weakness and strengths and I am there to help. Remember, I am not an expert in your profession, why should I expect that you would be in mine? The design process is a very personal one. I take great pride to work closely and carefully with my clients so that they feel secure, confident and excited about each decision we make.
