FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My rate is a reflection of my education and experience in this field–I charge what I charge because I believe I can bring you immense value in an hour. While I cannot build your voice for you, I can point you in the direction of the work you need to do to build it yourself. That said, I am a first-generation immigrant from a low-income family and I grew up loving music more than anything. I want to make sure that my pricing model is not excluding dedicated, hardworking students who cannot afford my fee. Therefore, I do offer a sliding scale for those students discussed on an individual basis. Additionally, those students who have greater financial resources may opt to “overpay” for their lessons to directly support students who otherwise would not be able to afford lessons.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Before we meet, we’ll chat about what your vocal goals are so I can determine whether I am the best person to help you reach them. Once we determine that, we’ll schedule a first consult. In our initial fit lesson, I’ll get to know your voice through a systematic series of exercises designed to show me what you already do well and what your voice isn’t *quite* willing to do yet. Through work on these exercises, we will build coordination so that you can develop a technique you can rely on. As you grow in technique and artistry, your lessons will start to look slightly different–we’ll talk more about strategy, repertoire selection, and moving forward as a musician. Throughout the process, my focus is on giving you the tools to bring as much of your authentic self to the process as possible, so that you can feel free to express yourself fully and completely when the lights are on you!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I earned my BM in vocal performance and music theory from Stetson University and my MM in vocal performance with a concentration in pedagogy from the New England Conservatory of Music. While I pursued my degrees, I taught at local community schools. My approach was always informed by my journey as a student, singer, and individual, and my students grew in technique and confidence along the way!
