I could not recommend the Magician Melies (John) more highly! He was the “surprise guest” at my husband’s surprise 30th birthday party and could not have been more entertaining. We had a last minute venue change, and John could not have been more accommodating or flexible, particularly given the limitations of the new space! We had some initial cynics in the audience, but they were quickly transformed into believers. The remainder of the party was spent trying to figure out how John did everything! Our minds were absolutely blown, and my husband was in disbelief. John is an amazing professional who keeps you on the edge of your seats the entire time (not an easy feat in a fairly loud bowling alley) and could not have been funnier or more engaging. He would be a phenomenal addition to any gathering.

Johns performances were outstanding. First, he got on time to the venue for setting. John is a charming, respectful and kind person. I loved all of his effects on the stage. I was really impressed with his show. John was so kind that he extended the show for one hour at our resident Halloween Party in Fenway. We only paid him for 30 minutes. I would recommend him in a heartbeat.

John performed a magic show for my wife's company party. It was fantastic. The show was a mixed group of adults and children, and John did a wonderful job of keeping both groups engaged and entertained. Although the act is mostly aimed at adults, John did a great job of both engaging the children and was very sensitive to their engagement -- "speeding things up" in order to hang onto their short attention spans. As an adult audience member, I enjoyed his humor and very much enjoyed the magic he brought into our day.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My standard fee is $350 for a one-hour performance (more for a corporate show). However, I offer a sliding scale and have yet to turn away a prospective client due to lack of funds. So contact me and let me know your situation--I'm sure we can work something out!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
One of my signature effects is to mail a prediction to my client days or even weeks before the show. During the performance, the prediction is opened and....Well, to find out what happens, you'll have to book me, won't you!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been studying magic and mentalism for years. Part of my apprenticeship has been with other magicians, chiefly through the International Brotherhood of Magicians (yes, there really is such a thing!).
