FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The first thing I would like prospective clients to focus on is that I am a retired, independent tutor. This allows me to keep my rates low, as I have no overhead to speak of: no office rent, no fees to an employer or tutoring agency, etc. You get the point. I am also attempting to keep rates low, and helping families with tight budgets, by staying closer to home, serving my local communities and minimizing time in traffic. The easier it is to get to your location, the less I charge. If you happen live close by to me, I would offer my lowest rate of $45/lesson. Lower rates are also offered to full time college students of college-age AND to clients who request more than one lesson each week. Additionally, I am open to “value pricing,” where you can take a try (if you're comfortable doing so) at letting me know what you think is a fair price to pay. Don’t like my bid? Make a counter-offer. How fair is that?! Please note: Value-pricing discussions may only take place during, or after, a face-to-face interview, not before then.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I get acquainted with the student, make that student comfortable and confident, assess his/her needs, understand student’s (or parent’s) goals, observe how s/he learns best and then to teach and encourage with that in mind. Feedback via school grades and from my observations of academic behavior during lessons, and those of the parent, are monitored for judging progress.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have two Masters Degrees (and was cited for academic excellence) to support my math-worthiness. Previously, on the academic side (until the program was terminated), I was connected to, and active with, the graduate finance department at the U where I got my finance degree. I have mentored a handful of international graduate students in finance. I also stay current on financial trends/matters by TV, radio, print and the web. On the practical side, I have years of experience in training and developing many, many employees in very detailed kinds of responsibilities.
