Paulo is an excellent teacher. He is patient, encouraging, explains the concepts well, makes me think. He adapted the lessons since I has a short time to learn as much as I could before leaving, His emphasis on pronunciation will serve me well when I go to Brazil and begin to speak Portuguese. One of the best parts of working with Paulo, is he made me believe that I could learn Portuguese.

Paulo is an extraordinary tutor. His background as an opera singer and an experienced language instructor makes him unusually qualified to help one develop a good accent in Portugueses - a true challenge for native English speakers where many of the vowels are completely foreign to our way of speaking. Paulo also has a carefully crafted curriculum, sending out a lesson plan in advance of each session. Truthfully, I can't believe my luck in finding such an excellent tutor online!

He’s a great teacher! Really helps and is encouraging. I have studied Portuguese in the past but want to better myself and he is really challenging me and pushing me. He gives me confidence i will be fluent soon and that i will have better grammar.

I started Portuguese lessons with Paulo because I wanted a native Portuguese speaker as a teacher. What I got was SO much more. Paulo is very passionate about his language, his teaching, and clearly cares whether the student is understanding and assimilating the lessons presented. His training and career as an Opera singer provides him with flawless and beautiful pronunciation that is literally music to my ears. Because of his voice training he can also hear the slightest deviation in my own pronunciation and accent, allowing me to slowly perfect my own Portuguese pronunciation. The lessons are paced well, not too fast, not too slow, and I can vary the pace as I need to. I've studied several languages before and have never enjoyed the process as much as I do with Paulo. Because Paulo is so personable, I'm laughing while learning my way to fluency! Rick Oliver

It varies according to the subject and length of lesson that I'm teaching.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Always try to evaluate each student's knowledge and experience in order to determine the best and most accurate approach to have. I do believe that each student has a different background that is always worth to know and integrate in the learning process.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm a professional Opera singer, Coodinator for Outreach and Education Programs for Savannah Voice Festival as well as an Opera Producer. In addiction - and combining the fact that I am a native Portuguese speaker and have been living in the United States for the last four years - I also had the chance to teach European and Brazilian Portuguese on a regular and formal basis.
