Michael came for preventative treatment for rodents at my property. He was thorough in his walk through, filling exterior and interior holes, setting bait stations, and traps. I was concerned about mice but not so much now. Michael is a professional exterminator that I would highly recommend.

Great experience! Very affordable compared to other exterminators in the area, made problem go away after first visit, which he made very easy to schedule due to him being really flexible with busy schedules. Bill was really nice & friendly. Did not want to hire a exterminator because did not plan on spending any money what so ever but was forced to due to the situation, I AM VERY HAPPY WITH HIRING RELIANT PEST CONTROL. Believe he was worth every dollar. Thank you Bill! Strongly recommend.

Matt Twomey (BBB Pest Services) is my ONE and ONLY exterminator for my two properties.. In the past, I have used 2 other BIG NAME pest control services and was NEVER happy with them. They were just adequate. Matt toes above and beyond all my expectations for my pest control needs, and he's a pleasure to talk to and a very good communicator. He's not happy unless I am happy, and always checks back with me to make sure he met those expectations. I will NEVER use any other service but BBB for pest control and have already recommended Matt to many friends..He is the BEST at what he does..!!

I contacted A & D regarding a flea problem on a Sunday through thumbtack and Mike responded within minutes and he kept corresponding with me and made me feel at ease!! He told me the office would contact me the following day....and they did!!! I had an appt. a couple of days later. Jeff came to my house and was very professional and informative.....he made me feel comfortable and took care of everything!! He fogged the whole house, upstairs, downstairs, the cellar and even outside around the house!!! He said I may see a few for a couple of days but not to worry they won't live.......well I haven't seen or felt anything!!! Seriously these guys were AWESOME!!! Soooo glad I Google exterminators and they popped up!!! I would HIGHLY recommend them!!! Ohhhh.....one more thing......their truck advertisement was just right.....not the loud, obnoxious type....you know.....so it wasn't embarrassing!!!!!

All of the above and more. I have complete confidence with Mark @ Elite. I had this done last year and it was not a completed job, although they said it was. Elite offers different, and as far as I am concerned, more thorough and better treatment and guarantee. Mark also sprayed a heavily infested bedbug area on a boxspring...of which he did not have to do untill service date. He did this during his inspection, not knowing if I would go with his service or not. Elite offers a 20% military discount as well.....which says volumes, doesn't it!

The response time from Brian on thumbtack was incredible. I reached out on thumbtack around 8:30am and within minutes Brian contacted me and addressed my concerns. He forwarded the info to Kristen and she called me before 9am and an initial appointment was made and Joe was at my house by 2:30pm to get the process underway. Before he left he already had Bill scheduled for the following day to lay out some mouse traps. I really can't comment any further on anything as the process has just begun but I will definitely be back to let you know what happens from here on out. However I can definitely tell you that their customer service is FANTASTIC! Both Kristen and Tatiana have called me several times to keep me informed on the goings on!

I had yellow jackets all over my cars. I was sure there was a nest. The exterminator came out and said there was no nest. He felt bees were attracted to sap from trees. He refunded my money!

After having a bat in our house we went to Thumbtack to find a pest control expert. They contacted me within 24 hours, and showed up to my house the day later. They thoroughly inspected the home for bat colonies, and found none. They were insightful and offered suggestions as to how the bat could have entered the home. They showed up within their 2 hour window as we agreed. There is nothing they could have done better, hence the 5 star rating. If I have a problem with rodents or pests in the future I will be going back to them.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How do you get bed bugs and how do you get rid of them?

The increase in bed bug infestations in the U.S. is a result of increased travel, lack of knowledge about preventing infestations, increased resistance of bed bugs to pesticides, and ineffective pest control practices, explains the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It’s easy to mistake bed bugs for carpet beetles or similar-looking bugs, so infestations are often not noticed when they first occur. Prevention tips include keeping areas free of clutter, regularly washing sheets and mattress covers in hot water (and don’t forget to wash the laundry bag, too), and vacuuming regularly and safely disposing of the sealed vacuum bag. Not everyone has reactions to bed bug bites, which also may be mistaken for the bites of other pests such as mosquitoes, so timely bed bug extermination depends on identification of bed bug activity. If you notice physical signs of an infestation, contact a bed bug extermination professional as soon as possible to learn about chemical and non-chemical (such as heat) treatment options. An integrated pest management plan may incorporate one or more methods.

How do you get rid of termites?

The best way to get rid of termites is to act fast. Termites are a problem that will only get worse — and no matter how much you want them to, they usually don’t magically move out on their own. There are three main types of termites: drywood, dampwood and subterranean. Drywood and dampwood termites sneak through cracks in your exterior paint, nail holes, and gaps near windows and other openings and begin to eat through your wood. Subterranean termites enter your house from the ground up by creating mud tunnels. In all cases, they survive by eating the wood of your house. The type of termites you have can steer the treatment plan.

Methods of termite extermination include fumigation, use of pesticides, and use of natural elements that are poisonous to the bugs. The extent of your termite infestation will help determine the treatment method. If you have drywood or dampwood termites that have infiltrated all aspects of the wood in your home, the pest control pro may recommend enclosing the whole house in a tent and gassing the termites via fumigation. If you have subterranean termites, often the entire footprint of the home must be treated by drilling liquid treatments into the slab or foundation of the home to exterminate the colonies. In any case, once you see signs of termites, it’s time to take action and call a pest pro.

What are the signs of termites in your home?

When you see signs of termites in your home, call a trusted pest control professional as soon as possible to handle the situation. Termites feed on wood, meaning they eat through the wood that makes up the frame, floors and other components of your house. Most people don’t know they have termites until they discover the damage done, because termites remain hidden underground or inside the wood they are eating. Keep on the lookout for these signs of termites:

  • Water bubbles in your interior or exterior paint: If you poke at what look like paint bubbles and find termite droppings inside, it’s a sign of termite infestation.
  • Frass: This is a fancy term for termite poop. Keep your eyes peeled for what look like six-sided salt and pepper droppings.
  • Mud tubes: Subterranean termites move between their earth home and your house by building mud tunnels. Mud tubes under or along the side of your house or foundation are a sure sign of a termite infestation.
  • Wings or swarming near your home: As a new colony is looking for a home, they fly (swarm), then shed their wings and burrow into nearby wood.
  • Softening of wood or hollowed-out wood: Termites don’t like paint, lacquer varnish or other wood finishes, so they’ll eat inside the wood and leave the exterior finish like a shell.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

  • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
    • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
  • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.
