About
I offer quality piano lessons to students in their homes. When teaching a student, beginner or advanced, I shape every aspect of their playing so that all of my students have the highest quality performance of their music. We do this by learning to listen to every note every time we practice to develop a keen ear. I also encourage ear training exercises since the ear is the most important part of a musician. I like to focus on how to practice throughout every new piece that is approached. Practicing is an art which when sharpened, can be the deciding factor of the quality of the playing. I also encourage theory booklets. Technique and sight reading is something that should always be practiced at any level.
There are many positives about teaching piano. The immediate one is that I get to know wonderful students and help them with their music. The less immediate but most rewarding result is watching the student grow from when they began with you until even just a year later. Sometimes the result is phenomenal and can be very satisfying. The time spent with these students also builds a relationship and you feel connected because you have literally given part of you to them through teaching. This can be quite surreal after their progress is noticed later on.

Ivan was absolutely wonderful. He was very accomodating to my schedule and was always very quick to respond. I am unfortunately unable to continue my lessons due to my own schedule restrictions, but I highly recommend Ivan for any new piano learners and I will be sure to continue lessons with Ivan in the future whenever my schedule allows!

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge by the hour. Please pay when we meet before the lesson begins.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
There is an introduction and I try to find out as much about the student as I can. I ask questions like: Have you played piano before? How long? What is your favorite music to listen to? Do you have any goals with piano? What are they?
I would also try encourage them further by playing a piece for the student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
10 years of teaching for myself and various music schools. I’ve had many students of all age ranges and levels.
Bachelor of Music Texas A&M Commerce
Numerous recitals, performances including the Dallas Meyerson Symphony Hall and Steinway Hall.
Took numerous piano pedagogy classes including all other classes for my degree.
Taught piano through a program at A&M Commerce for a year. Also taught through two private music schools when I was in Dallas.
