FAQs
- What types of customers have you worked with?
HMD offers services based on an a la carte menu. Our typical projects can be anything from helping someone arrange their old furniture in a new house, to a Gut-kitchen remodel. All of our projects begin the same way, we help our clients understand their own personal style (vs. our designers style) prioritize budget vs. quality, and determine how their own family will use the room. HMD then helps our clients determine a "big-picture design concept" for a room based on our clients style, budget and goals for the function of the room. We then help our clients navigate the design process, and sourcing options like finishes and furniture along the way. We provide color consultation, space planning and discounts on furniture, fixtures, lighting, rugs and more!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Choose for experience and then personality. The design process is long, and expensive mistakes can be made. A designer with experience has seen these mistakes and will help you avoid them. You'll spend a lot of time with your designer, so you should enjoy their company too!
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Designers and Decorators are all unique. There is no common design process, and very few rules. Some designers and decorators only work within their own style vocabulary, and some bounce between different specialties (ie residential decorating vs corporate office design / construction.) We choose to consult with our clients in order to achieve their own style, not ours. We specialize in residential so that we are experts in our area and keep up on changes and building codes.
