The Common Dog
About this pro
Our approach to training is tailored to the needs of the dog and the owner. We utilize many different techniques as we believe like children all dogs learn differently. I enjoy educating my owners to understand their dog's behavior. It's not just showing what to do but why, that's the key to creating the best relationship between owner and dog.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Initially we meet and discuss the specifics of the training needs / results to be worked on. This session is about educating the owners on their dog's behavior then we get to work accomplishing the training goals.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have 20 years experience working with all breeds. I completed a training program with a local trainer and have taught small and large group classes.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I adopted a dog from a shelter who was quite difficult. What I found was I wanted to understand why he was misbehaving not just put a band aid on the trigger situations. Most trainers avoided educating me they just told me what to do. I tried many training techniques and realized that what works for one dog may not work for another.
