About

I have seen Russ in two different bands; Either/Orchestra an Orchestra Morphine. Due to my being something of a pushy asshole I have managed to meet and get to know Russ, which has led to mischief and mayhem ensuing after gigs in places like Pittsburgh, PA and Falls Church, VA. I have loved E/O since taking a chance of one of their albums because I read a review that mentioned that they had done a cover of a King Cromson song. Without a doubt I consider taking that risk one of the best decisions I have ever made. E/O has never failed to release staggering album after staggering album... Players come and go (and gratefully returned for the NYC 25th anniversary gig) and genre after genre gets the E/O treatment (a combination of inventive charts topped by outstanding soloing)... And this band has never failed to make something ancient and modern, beautiful and frightening, new but familiar. They are almost single-handedly keeping something very American alive; the small big band. My only complaint is that they come to DC too infrequently. The two tours stages by Orchestra Morphine, to celebrate the life and music of Mark Sandman (who I thought i first heard when he sang 'Temptation' on an E/O album until I realized that was the same guy who sang in Treat Her Right) and again I had to stand in awe as Mrk's music was rearranged into forms that elevated and showed respect at the same time. If I die before Russ I hope he will compose a nice New Orleans funeral march for me. Russ, I promise if you do I'll stop asking you to come play in DC (but if you are willing to bring the band to Hell for a gig I promise to be in the front row).

About

I believe that every student has the potential to become the best violinist that they can be. My goal is for them to come to love music and music making, but also to realize that anything worth doing takes hard work. I recently left my position at the Shepherd Preparatory School at Rice University where I taught as one of the violin faculty, and also where I got my master's degree. Currently, I teach violin at Boston University while pursuing my Doctorate degree with Bayla Keyes there. I also tour and perform with the Meadowlark Piano Trio when I am not playing with the Boston Philharmonic and Boston Ballet. My former teachers include Cho-Liang Lin, Julie Yoon of the Chiara String Quartet, and Hal Grossman of the Grossman Method. As someone with minors in history and math with emphasis in pre-Law, I believe that learning and expanding one's interests can only enrich one's musical expression. I firmly believe that music expresses the whole of the human experience, and therefore the approach should always be holistic.

About

We absolutely loved Java Jive. We were so lucky to have them at our wedding! They were so flexible and learned a number of new songs for us. The customer service and care was as if we were their only customer. Throughout the planning process they were incredibly responsive and flexible (as our ideas about the wedding music changed). They walked us through the whole process identifying things we hadn't even thought of. They had played at our venue, the Popponesset Inn a number of times and knew just exactly what we needed for setup and for best sound quality. Java Jive is also so affordable in comparison to other wedding bands. By far the absolute best value and price that we could find, yet the quality of their music was outstanding. We totally love this band and have recommended them to everyone!

About

Talented individual artists have united to form one of the most sought-after bands around. This gives our clients the benefit of both male and female vocalists, resulting in high versatility. The end result: high energy performance and pure entertainment. In addition to vocalists, the band’s foundation is comprised of keyboards, bass, guitar, drums and a horn section (upon request). Ceremonial music, cocktail hour music, emcee, etc. are also available. Experience counts! With more than 15 years of performing experience, one of the most important factors the band knows to be important is that weddings and other events require correct song selection in order to create the right atmosphere. The Pulse Of Boston’s variety of music covers every genre and period, from the 50s to the present. This, along with the ability to “read” an audience, helps to set the mood for the perfect event. The band specializes in connecting with the audience and creating a “personal touch” with the crowds at every event. We “guarantee” satisfaction, and we will keep you and your guests entertained and on the dance floor! The Pulse Of Boston is voted 2010 and 2011 “Best Of Bands” by The Knot Wedding Magazine.
