"Bulent is a fun loving teacher who loves music, and is wonderful with children of all ages. He has taught our daughter for both voice and piano lessons and our son for drum lessons. His technical knowledge is wonderful, he is exact with the students in regard to technique, breathing and stretching exercises, and body alignment. His lessons are fun and he is full of enthusiasm which rubs off on the students. He helps make younger students feel at ease, and has a gentle manner, which makes lessons very enjoyable. We would recommend Bulent to anyone, regardless of musical ability." Allyson P. and Jason E.

I basically asked Bulent to do a miracle, and he did it! I wanted to sing a song at my best friend's wedding, but have a terrible intonation and basically no former musical education. In a few lessons Bulent explained me the basics of singing and helped me to prepare the song. The result was great! I had so much fun that after this experience, I think I will keep taking classes with Bulent. Absolutely 5 stars!

Bulent is a fantastic voice teacher. Very professional, knowledgeable, dedicated, caring, attentive. I couldn't have asked for a better teacher. I did not have much of a voice prior to starting lessons and with Bulent's teaching and guidance, I discovered and continue to develop my voice. Had I not moved away, I would continue taking lessons.

Josh is an excellent teacher whose drum playing skills and general musical knowledge are impeccable. I started lessons with Josh this past summer to try and pick up a different instrument from guitar and improve my rhythmic abilities and he helped me progress a great deal on the drums. He has a great ear which he has developed from years of playing and which he keeps sharp by playing on a regular basis. He uses his very keen ears to pick up on the most minute details of your playing which will help you develop as a detail oriented player. I like Josh's teaching style, he's a very encouraging person and will celebrate your progress every step of the way, but he isn't afraid to tell you what you need to hear in order to improve as a player. All in all my experience with Josh has been great and I would 100% recommend him to a player of any skill level.

Verified review

Josh is very knowledgeable about music, which is fantastic. He also has great experiences that inform his approach and practice. It's a very comfortable space and easy to get to. I was a little unhappy by the amount of talking. He shared a lot more than I wanted, especially lectures around being a learner. I needed more opportunities to actually drum and do the movements - not write out music and listen to a teacher tell me about learning. I don't feel like I got $50 worth of practice and learning in because so much time was him talking.

Josh is a fantastic drum instructor. He's got talent galore, enthusiasm to burn, and the ability to teach at whatever level the student is at. He combines a passion for music with a natural ability to communicate clearly, which translates into lessons that are super fun and productive. He trained at Berkley won awards for teaching, and is highly sought after as a performer He's truly a gem, as a person and as a drum instructor. Could not be happier!

David has been teaching me guitar for a little over a month now. I have already seen great advances in my technique, rhythm, and understanding of music. I have been playing guitar for 9 years off and on, and I have never had professional lessons. I can say that after a month with David, I am playing better than I ever have and believe that my guitar playing skills will continue to progress rapidly with David's help. His teaching technique is very casual and fun, almost conversational, and his insights are spot on. He is exactly what I hoped for in an instructor when I started looking at guitar lessons and I would highly recommend him for anyone who loves guitar, regardless of their skill level. He is a 'must hire' professional!

I took lessons from John for seven years. In those seven years, I learned more from him than I could have learned from any other tutor. For the first four years, I took lessons directly from John, in person. Unfortunately, I needed to move and could no longer take lessons from him. We decided to give skype lessons a try and stuck with it for three more years with little difference. From drum-set, to piano, to snare drum, to djembe, he knows it all. Heck, if you're desperate, he'll show you some of his belly beats. If it wasn't for a busy schedule, I'd most certainly still be taking lessons from him. His lessons are very fun and laid-back! John is truly a phenomenal teacher!

John Jena is not only a talented percussionist, but an outstanding musician in all counts. Between his ability to create fully realized musical pieces, excellent percussion technique and impeccable sense of sound, working with John has been an absolute blast. I've worked with John in the past on several person projects, including increasing my YouTube presence with songs he created and several tracks he did for work I've done in the gaming industry. Not only that, he's been an amazing teacher for the local community. There's no one I'd rather go to than John for his pure musical talent and ability.

Kris has a way of making the material so easy to learn. Whenever I am stuck with a particular area, he breaks it down and we work on all of the parts together. Soon enough, it all comes together! I have learned A LOT since I first started taking drum lessons at The Drummers' Studio. I drive about 40 minutes after a long day of work to my drum lesson, and it is worth it every single time! I really can't say enough great things about The Drummers' Studio, a truly excellent experience that will leave you with great knowledge and skills.

Seven years ago I took drum lessons with my middle school band director. Basically, I stood in front of the drum set and watched him perform a step. Then I tried the step a couple times while the teacher watched me. This process took about 15 minutes. Then the teacher would tell me that for the rest of the hour I was to learn the step, while he went off to do his other stuff, and that I wasn’t to return for another lesson until I mastered the step. I never learned the step (who would with this kind of teaching) and I never returned for another lesson. Seven years later, I had a drum lesson with Jonathan Wollenberger. I was completely blown out of my mind. The lesson began with him showing me how to hold sticks, and him helping me to adjust the heights of the cymbals, chair, and drums. Then he proceeded to try and teach me the same step that I had been taught in middle school. As I tried to get the hang of it, he was extremely attentive, and gave me advice about gripping the sticks, moving my arms and shoulders, how to sit, and more. Above all, his happy charm and patience really made me feel motivated. Jonathan is very knowledgable about drumsticks, drum sets, and teaching materials. Based on our lesson, he was able to recommend me a specific type of stick based on my arm length, strength, and height. He always comes to our lessons well prepared and in a good mood. Apparently, my lesson with him was his first time teaching! I was very surprised, as it seemed like he had been teaching for years. Jonathan is a natural when it comes to teaching, and I would recommend him to anyone looking for drum lessons.

If you have an opportunity to work with Tim I highly, highly recommend it. Here's why - he knows his stuff and he's one of the most gifted teachers I've ever met. Period. I first met Tim a few years ago in California, looking for someone to teach me the drums. As an adult learner I was pretty set in my ways - I'd done customer training for more than 15 years and was usually very skeptical when it came to how other trainers approach teaching students. Simply put, Tim blew me away. He knows the drums, without a doubt. What sets him apart from other teachers is his natural ability to lead, guide, ans instruct. He's patient, he's kind, and he's genuinely invested in your growth as a student drummer. Every student learns a little differently and I've seen Tim easily adapt his teaching methods in ways that best suit his students' learning preferences. That's not something you learn, it's something you feel. If you're an adult like me, or a parent looking for the best teacher to help your child learn, understand and incorporate the beauty of music in to his/her life, Tim Carman is the guy for you.

Tim is an amazing instructor! he worked extremely well with me asking how i learn best, as well as would not only teach, but study me as well. when i went in for my lesson he had me play to warm up, taught me a few things to help with technique, and saw a few habits i did and corrected them to make learning easier. Tim was very professional and yet laid back which is great because it didn't feel like i was back in school. he let me learn the songs that i wanted to learn, and wrote down our lesson to practice at home. i am very excited for my next lesson with him.

DeAngelis School of Music is an excellent school for students of all ages and all skill levels. The instructors are well trained professionals who give fun energetic lessons in all styles of music. In addition to being music instructors many of them have been or still are part time recording studio and live playing musicians. Most of them are rather accomplished song writers as well. Oh and, Bands, Bands, Bands! This school knows how to create a team work learning environment for its students. It inspires them to practice more and helps them improve those much needed social skills. In my younger years I looked everywhere around my home town for a school that offered as many performance opportunities as DeAngelis School of Music does, and I have never found a music school that matches this high quality of instruction with the types of performance opportunities they offer. I highly recommend checking out their website and calling the school today. www.dsrocks.com

Josh is an excellent, engaging piano teacher. My 6 year old really enjoyed her lessons and was able to grasp the lessons quickly. Other staff we delt with have also been nice to work with. My only issue with DeAngelis Studio of Music is that the building is not handicapped accessible, piano lessons are on the third floor,, which made it difficult for me. Josh even offered to come down the stairs to get my daughter and bring her back down, which was very nice, but at her age, she wanted me present, and the stairs were a challenge.

I can't say enough good things about Mike and the DeAngelis school of music and arts. My son is so happy with his guitar lessons and his band. He's not an easy kid to keep interested in anything and Mike and his teachers have the patience to keep him focused and engaged. My son and I could not be happier. His playing is coming along nicely and his band flat out rocks! Thanks DeAngelis school.

I'm 40 years old and, though I have played several musical instruments formally and informally in my past, the last time I played orchestral or rock-n-roll instruments was 20 years ago. When I recently mentioned to my wife that I'd really like to learn to play guitar "right" sometime (having dabbled in teaching myself a long time ago), she got lessons with Greg for my birthday. I've been to around 10 lessons with Greg so far, and I have to say that I'm really impressed with his teaching skills. First off, he adapts very quickly to your skill level; he'll give you things to challenge you while not overwhelming you. Second, he doesn't only teach you scales and musical theory without application like some music teachers do. Third, he listens to what *you* want to do. For example, I told him that I always wanted to learn finger picking, and mentioned a few songs I liked that used that technique; he learned them on his own and the began teaching them to me. Fourth, in a good balance between my second and third points, he will always sneak in some theory into your lessons but always teach you how the theory can help you in practical situations. For example, in my very first lesson he taught me the simple minor pentatonic scale and showed me how I can use it to solo in any 12-bar blues song. Finally, he's someone that makes you feel comfortable at all times -- someone you aren't afraid to screw up in front of, and someone you can bring questions to. I really enjoy our lessons, feel like I'm learning a lot, and plan to continue. When my kids are old enough to start learning an instrument, I'll send them to Greg too. Please consider using Greg as your teacher. I think you'll be very satisfied.

Greg is a great piano teacher. He is very knowledgeable about the music. Even my daughter has only had two lessons so far, she likes it already. Learning with Greg, my daughter feels very comfortable. The way he explains is very easy to understand. Greg is very enthusiastic about teaching, and very patient instructor. We are so glad that we chose him as a right teacher for my daughter. She is so excited about learning new stuffs , and can't wait to get through another lessons . Greg is a third instructor we select within the past three years. My daughter is very happy to have him as a teacher this time. I would definitively recommend Greg to anyone who is looking for a piano teacher to learn at any level. Thuan

Sam is our 8 year old son's drum teacher, but he is the best drum teacher I could imagine for any aged learner. He is responsible about scheduling and a good communicator each week. More importantly, I am beyond impressed by the rapport that Sam has with all people, especially in our case, our son. He treats him seriously as a musician in the way he talks to him and when they jam together. There is no condescending attitude about teaching a little kid; Sam makes the most of every lesson and keeps him playing and engaged right up to the minute. Even more, 10 minutes after each lesson, we get a personal itunes email with a practice song or rhythm that is personalized just for our son! Summer scheduling could be a little tricky, but that worked both ways. I only hope that our rave review does not contribute to our losing Sam as a teacher, because he would be very hard to replace.

Martha M.

Verified review

I could not have chosen a better drum teacher for my son. Sam's style of teaching is exactly what will encourage and influence musicians of the future. It is not a "Here's your book, let's go over this piece and then practice it 30 minutes a day for the next week" kind of lesson. Sam challenges his students, wants to know what they have been listening to and want to try to play, then it's using that and breaking things down into rudiments from there, all while keeping it fun and just jamming.

My son was only 2 years old when he showed great potential with the drums. By age 5 he was taking weekly lessons but not growing at all. At age 7 I changed teachers & he again didn't progress. He was not engaged at all. THEN WE MET JUNGHO! Our son is 9 & been taking private lessons for a year now & can play like a teenager. The lessons are very engaging, age appropriate and very exciting. He is getting all the fundamentals but in a way that he can connect with. Jungho's gentle demeanor and genius skill level would MAKE ANY MOTHER COMFORTABLE teaching their child. I only wish I would have found him sooner!

My son has taken drum lessons with Brian for a few years. What we all appreciate was that he was is so flexible with the music my son has to play from typical school music to praise music. He also has been very flexible with the times my son has his lessons. Brian has done an outstanding job both teaching and relating to my son. He has never been short with him but has encouraged him to grow in his music and to learn new and different techniques playing the drums. Brian is one of the few teachers I can honestly say without hesitation the lessons are great quality for the money and the lessons can only help my son to grow in the coming years.

Upon meeting Ben, I was very impressed by his professional attitude and his engaging approach to our first lesson. He had us begin by playing a 4 on the 4 floor groove, and payed close attention to my hands and technique so he could assess where I was, and where I wanted to/could be. He wasted no time in giving me helpful tips to improve my left arm. He also wrote out exercises for me, and reading is imperative for me as a personal goal, so it was perfect. I'm very thankful that I went with Ben over the other two teachers who quoted me. I'm excited for our next lesson!

As a composer, collaborating with Dennis Shafer continues to be a great opportunity to work with an incredibly well-rounded, sophisticated, and poetic musician. After soliciting my musical intentions, such an impeccably pictorial and wonderfully sincere performance of my music could only have arisen from someone so wholly invested not only in his craft, but in a greater concept of what music can mean. I am eager to be again composing music for Dennis to perform. In the spirit of his teaching philosophy, he’s opened my eyes to the thrill of collaborative work. Composers can be recluses, and I needed that eye-opener. His availability, willingness, and capacity to clarify the challenges of writing well for the saxophone makes me a better composer. A chance to work or study with Dennis in any capacity should not be passed up. He is a renaissance man and a worldbeater.

Elizabeth V.

We have known Dennis Shafer for almost two years, in that time he has taught my now 10 year old son to play the clarinet and more recently the saxophone. He also managed and led a small group of students to form a band; all of which were beginners in their instruments. Dennis is a fantastic teacher, he is passionate and enthused and very much an inspiration for my son. His lessons are fun and he introduces different types of music. Thomas has developed well with Dennis and accomplished much. I would highly recommend him to others.

Mr. Dennis has both the ability and patience to teach students of all grades and competency level. He makes learning fun and my daughter looks forward to her Sax lessons every week. Mr. Dennis pro-actively puts music ensembles together to showcase his students’ work and boast their confidence. He also suggests outside programs for the kids that both challenges their comfort zones and expands their musical horizons.
