Introduction: I am a full-time musician based in Boston, MA who puts a huge emphasis on lessons. I connect in a personal way with my students and show them how to meet their goals. I never get tired of making music, and I never get tired of helping my students learn how to express themselves more fully on their instrument.

I have never played guitar before and had my first ever lesson with Evan. Evan is able to meet at the learner's level. The true sign of an expert is the ability to explain concepts and idea a number of different ways. Evan is able to do that. I recommend Evan to anyone who is considering starting or getting back into music.

Hello, I am a guitar newbie and had my first lesson with Evan this week and I was very impressed. First, I find Evan to be courteous, friendly and professional. Throughout my lesson, Evan offered (most importantly) structure and positive reinforcement: I felt very comfortable and encouraged. Evan answered all of my questions in simple, understandable terms and offered practical teachings for my level. I definitely left my lesson more excited about playing guitar than when I had arrived. If you’re new, and looking for help, I recommend you give Evan a chance!

Details: 26 - 44 years old • No formal training • Yes, can read guitar tabs • Acoustic • Rock • Blues • Country • Folk • Yes, the student has an instrument • 45 minutes • At the pro’s location

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My lessons are priced very reasonably. If I have to travel to a student I will count the time and expense of that towards the lesson fee. I am willing to work with students to find the best length, price and location for their lessons.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

It starts with getting to know each other. I want to know what your goals are, what your experience so far has been, what you consider to be your strengths and weaknesses. From there we will start to enhance what you're already skilled at, and improve your problem areas. It is a holistic approach to music taking theory, technique and expression into account.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I received my degree in music from Boston College. I am a certified Music Together instructor, which means I have a lot of experience with small kids. I also taught for two years in a program called Merry Melody, which gave me serious training in working with young students.
