Since I started training with Tammy in May, I’ve lost 19 pounds, gotten much stronger & toned, and I’m down a few sizes! More importantly, she’s taught me the importance of eating clean and healthy and shown me how I can fit workouts and being active into my crazy work schedule! I didn’t think any of this was possible until I met her! Selfishly, I don’t want to share her but if you need some motivation and a great personal trainer, Tammy’s your person (and she does home sessions because I have no time or interest in going to the gym!)

Nothing short of mind blowing and life changing! If you are looking for a way to get your life and spiritual health back on track and want to work on becoming the best person you can be, then I highly suggest going to Richer Life Journey! Especially if you are stuck in a rut or feeling depressed, fatigued and desperate need of a jump start and guidance. I see Molly Ryan at the Richer Life Journey Center. I have a chronic illness, had been very fatigued and feeling really lost and depressed. Main stream medical has failed me so I wanted to try some less conventional types of treatments to see if I could at least get my energy up and centered. I didn't know to much about reiki other than it cleans up your energy and centers it. First off Molly is an amazing and gifted woman. She is compassionate and truly wants to help people. I go in there a mess and a scatter brain and leave feeling special, grounded and truly loved by her. I feel like I am important and I do count. That is a gift within itself . Not only is Molly a reiki master, but she is also a medium and intuitive healer. I had no clue what I was in for. I feel she is one of those gifted people you see on TV or read about. I have been getting the color and sound reiki sessions. It's over an hour long and in just a few minutes I am deeply relaxed. Buckets of stress wash away. Durring the sessions there are sounds and smells. I can physically feel a shift durring this time as spirit works through her. The more times I went the more I could "feel" durring the sessions. It was quite exciting and even more so when we discussed it together latter and found we shared similar experiences durring our time together. Equally important and impressive is the period after the session where she discusses with you what information she received from you and spirit. Yes she is very gifted and can tap into all of that. I actually tag on an extra half an hour of counseling also. I believe she may be a certified Councelor or has some sort of degree also. But durring the time after the session she explains what she saw as she worked with each individual chakra and if need be, things to be worked on and or adjusted in your life. This part of the session was mind blowing. She knew things about me that she could not have possibly known. Some of the things I did not even know or recognize at the time! For instance my inner voice is very negative twords myself and that certain things in my past regarding my family were still impacting me in a negative way. She not only points these things out to you but she also directs you to the begining point on working on them in a positive constructive way. I have to say that working with Molly helped me open up my eyes to a whole new world and with her help and loving direction she guided me to a point where I was able to work on myself and was able to achieve a level of inner happiness, peace and ballance. I looked at things differently and approached obstacles in a different manner. After just a few sessions I felt more grounded than I had in years. I understand myself more, have a plan and I feel a lot better and have more energy. Molly made me feel special and loved. She is a beautiful compassionate and gifted woman. Positive energy just radiates from her and through her tallent. She truly cares about you as an individual and has a calling to help people. With her gift and her big heart that is exactly what she does. I highly recommend Molly if you are looking to try reiki I can't recommend her enough and highly recommend doing the extra counceling session at the end to go over the session thoroughly and to gain her experienced insight and guidance. Meeting and working with Molly has been a life altering experience for me and I feel a closeness to her and consider her my mentor, my shaman and my friend. She helped me find myself again and to no longer be defined by my illness. Stacey Carbary

When I started working with Michelle my goals were to improve myself physically and spiritually by stepping out of my normal workouts and comfort zone because they were no longer working for me. Since working with Michelle she has inspired me to reach for new goals by setting and creating new and out of the box workouts that alone I never would have imagined possible. Trusting Michelle in this way and following her lead has shown me that I am stronger than I thought. She has given me a new confidence to see my capacity for accomplishing my dreams in all areas of my life. What is different about Michelle that I have not found in other trainers is that she cares about all of me and is invested in my whole life. She is not only a trainer but has become a friend and a mentor to me.

I hired Jane as a Life Coach because I am going through a life transition and seeking a new path that reflects the growth I have managed over the last several. I spent many years in an emotionally abusive marriage where my feelings were dismissed, my dreams squelched and my intellect ridiculed. As a single parent in the ten years between now and then, I had little time to pursue dreams or new careers, but I was away from the bullying and able to finally begin to blossom and to value myself. Now my children are grown and I'm ready to take the next step, but I realized that I could not do it alone. The conditioning was still too strong. I wanted someone to help, to bounce things off of, to give me perspective and to keep me from falling into ambivalence and indecision in the face of that inner critic. Jane has been that person. She has a wonderful combination of kindness and straightforwardness. She spent our first session just listening, giving her full attention to where I had been and where I was at. The validation of that alone, was worth gold to me. She has the ability to listen in a way that is deep and that helps you hear yourself, and trust yourself. We are still working towards my goals, which she is helping me identify and stay true to. The more I work with her the more solid and confident I become in my dreams and the quieter that echo of the bully becomes. I highly recommend Jane for anybody who is in a transition period of their life--especially if you have been the victim of abuse--and is looking for someone who can provide support, structure and firm but gentle guidance. She never, never tells you what to believe or who you are or what you want. She helps you find your own way there.

I was struggling with some basic life stuff, and decided I needed help. Jim's and my paths had crossed a few years earlier and I remembered that he did life coaching. So I gave him a try. This was almost a year ago. There's no magic pill or words, people. He's down to earth, patient, kind. And skilled. The proof is in the pudding. I'm trying to do my part, he's doing his part.. I can't explain exactly HOW his coaching is working for me. But when I recall the issues I initially brought to the table, and I take a look at where I am almost a year later and how I feel, and what I learned about myself and how to navigate as the individual I am... I would heartily recommend Jim to anyone who thinks they could use some help. To be happier. thumbtack asks reviewers to 'be specific' and I hope I have been. MORE specifics I fear could be counter-productive. I can only suspect that Jim's sensitivity and skill level means he is addressing and approaching clients with a big bag of tricks, some of which are helping me. I'll bet there are skills and tools he uses that I've never seen that could help someone else, and if I were too specific, that person might read this and say "oh, he's okay for her but not for me" and that also may be true. No one coach could be great for everyone. But I sense he has many skills in addition to those he uses to to help me, and the proof is in the pudding. And the pudding is much better this year than it was last year. Phone sessions work fine for me every 2 - 5 weeks. It's very good.

I was initially nervous to meet with a life coach, however, after meeting with Jane I realized it was the best decision I have made for myself in a long time. She creates a plan to help address your personal and professional goals and genuinely cares about her clients. I would highly recomend booking an appointment with Jane for career goals, life coaching skills, or any additional professional aspirations.

Working with Ryan has been a transformative experience for me to say the least. I have always worked out, but never with a personal trainer. I thought, “I know how to lift weights and do sit ups!”. Well, I found out that I didn’t know as much as I thought I did. While working with Ryan I learned how to specifically isolate my problem areas. (flabby arms, stomach etc.) One of the things I appreciated the most was the thoroughness of Ryan’s instruction. He explained how each exercise he added to my regiment affected different areas of my body. Ryan is serious about helping you reach your work out goals, and he has a gracious spirit with a can-do and positive attitude. I went from not being able to do one push-up to doing ten respectable push—ups!! Thanks Ryan!

I have been working out with Anthony for he better part of 4 years now and there is nobody I would trust or rely on more for my personal training needs. I was recently in an accident that left me with fractures in my spine and a weak left leg and have been working with Anthony as part of my rehab and he is creative in creating exercise to accommodate me and still help me to reach my goals. He is caring and compassionate and just as motivated for you to reach your personal goals as you are!

I spoke to many life coaches during my search for a coach, before I talked to Marc, and even during my first phone conversation with him, I knew he was the one I was going to choose. This is because of his startling directness. He was unique and the insights he shared with me on his interpretation of my behavior were profound and I left our first conversation with a different perspective. He put a lot of effort into contacting me via different avenues (phone, email, and other websites). Then when I was dragging my feet on filling out the paperwork he sent me and didn't complete it by the time I had said I would, he surprised me by telling me that he was disappointed and used it as the first lesson in accountability and respectng others' time. He said that if I'm looking for a "comfortable" coach, he isn't the one for me. However, after I learned Marc's style, I do feel very comfortable with sharing things with him and getting his advice. He isn't like other coaches in that you feel your sessions are very tailored specifically to what you want them to be about. He doesn't let you ramble on about the problem or 'how that makes you feel' but keeps the conversations focused to make the most out of every session. He has flexibility about whether sessions are done in person or on the phone but he does encourage meeting in person every couple weeks. His price is very affordable for the personalized and effective work he does. I recommend Marc to anyone who is ready to see themselves for who they really are and make changes to a better life with more clarity. See Marc before you go to spend time and money on a psychotherapist or counselor too!

Leadership coaching is an excellent personal and professional development resource and I found it to be a wonderful experience! It is also effective when coupled with other leadership development training programs. The personal interaction and meetings with Rob were awesome! They provided a mechanism for safe, open, and confidential thought provoking dialogue. Discussions with Rob energized me and gave me an opportunity to discuss issues, thoughts, and feelings and work through them to develop proactive solutions. I would highly recommend incorporating Rob's skills and abilities as a personal leadership coach to anyone serious about improving their leadership capabilities. There are things to consider before the coaching process. Specific leadership development goals should be established at the beginning of the coaching process, regardless if the customer wants to create them or not. The Coach should require this step. The lack of up front goal setting makes it difficult to measure progress and effectiveness of the coaching process.

Kim has changed my life and finally got me back to a workout routine! She provides great guidance and oversight to exercise modifications where needed and motivates us to power through. Her guided workouts targets muscles I didn’t even know I had. She is always very punctual with both starting and ending on time which is the only reason I am able to fit it into my schedule. She is defintiely great at what she does!

It is really exciting to work with a former Olympic Athlete. She is tough and expects her clients to show up on time, stay focused, and stick to the nutrition program at home. However, she is also very calm and has a fun attitude in the sessions, so by no means a drill sergeant. Her monthly program includes free nutrition coaching by text messaging. I found this to be really easy to follow along, and Cansu was inspirational when I was craving bad foods. We texted back and forth through the week and she did a great job suggesting foods to eat. I look at personal training as an investment in the future. It is a great feeling to have a coach with me while I am learning, but I also like that I will have this experience and knowledge forever. It is possible to learn many basics from online videos, but she really pays attention to how my body is growing and changing, and is always coming up with modifications to my routine. Highly recommended.

Working with Mihaela has been transformative. I recently asked her to give my team private yoga instruction as a way to reward great work, and also increase well-being and productivity. She has given us all of that and more. We all feel an incredible change in our bodies, and minds thanks to her coaching. She not only gives us a great full body work out, but she helps us to deal with stresses and anxieties in life and in the workplace. We love working with Mihaela and would recommend her highly to everyone we know, and especially those interested in private yoga classes!

During my first year at the Harvard Kennedy School, Mala Paliwal coached me through the myriad personal and professional challenges I was facing. I was grappling with long-distant relationships with family members, as well as a few fraught relationships on campus. I was also trying to redefine myself in a highly competitive professional environment. Mala worked with me both in person and over the phone. She listened compassionately and without judgement. When you are with her, you are made to feel that you are all that matters. She has an incredible knack for asking questions to help me unravel my own assumptions. I realized many things about the mental habits which were sabotaging my ability to reach my goals and to be happy. Above all, Mala reminded me that I am a unique individual that cannot and should not be compared to anyone else. She encouraged me to celebrate my uniqueness, each and every single day. She emphasized the importance of such positive thinking. Mala's coaching left an indelible mark on me. This summer I am pursuing personal and professionally meaningful opportunities that I would never have taken on before I met her. I am willing to challenge myself whilst being accepting of who I am and of my own limits. I embrace the totality of myself and propel myself into everything I do. It's truly joyful time and I am deeply grateful for Mala's belief and investment in me.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a health coach?

A health coach is a service provider you can hire to help you realize your wellness goals. You can hire a health and wellness coach to guide you through life changes, keep you focused on weight loss or fitness goals, help boost your mental health, and more. Many health coaches work with their clients for set periods of time as the client moves toward a measurable goal. Wellness coaches come from varying backgrounds, and may have different areas of focus depending on their education and training. Research potential coaches by reading their reviews, researching their academic and personal backgrounds, and learning about any certifications they have earned from coaching institutes. Often, health and wellness coaches sell coaching packages ranging from three to six months or longer, depending on the client’s needs. The average national cost for an individual health coach session ranges from $60 to $90, although prices may range as low as $30 or up to $130 or more, depending on your location and the coach.

What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

What is a holistic wellness coach?

When you want to reach new heights with your health and wellness, consider hiring a holistic wellness coach. Much like a health coach, a holistic wellness coach is focused on your well-being and meets with you in one-on-one sessions to help you identify and reach your targeted goals. A holistic wellness coach will typically have you take all components of your life into account when working to achieve your goals. If your goal is to lose weight, a holistic wellness coach will not only offer recommendations for your diet and exercise, but also discuss your emotional health, your work/life balance, your spiritual side, and each area of your life that affects your ability to follow a nutrition and fitness plan.

Although they are highly motivational and often can help clients achieve great results, holistic wellness coaches are not professional health care providers or registered dietitians. Different institutes and training centers provide certifications for holistic wellness coaching, so be sure to research your coach and read their reviews to understand more about their techniques and training.

Why get a life coach?

People of all ages and in all careers have called in a life coach. Life coaches are accredited professionals who can help you figure out the tangible changes you can make in your life to reach your goals; they can even help you turn your dreams into goals, if you’re not sure where to go next. A life coach can also help people find their purpose in life. Life coaching clients often have an idea of what they want to do, such as help people or work with animals, but don’t know how to turn that passion into a career. A life coach can help clients work through the options to find a clear path with concrete steps that lead to an attainable goal. A life coach can also help clients make a major career change, such as starting a new business. Life coaches can help clients develop better habits that will make them more successful, acting as an accountability partner. Life coaches also often guide their clients through major transitions in life, such as a career change or other stressful situations that are made easier with guidance from a neutral third party.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
