Wanted to take piano lessons, so I called the owner, Kris, and he made me feel very confident and comfortable in going with his studio. Charlie, my piano teacher, is very good. He's attentive, patient, and most importantly challenges me. Great experience so far. Highly recommended.

David has been teaching me guitar for a little over a month now. I have already seen great advances in my technique, rhythm, and understanding of music. I have been playing guitar for 9 years off and on, and I have never had professional lessons. I can say that after a month with David, I am playing better than I ever have and believe that my guitar playing skills will continue to progress rapidly with David's help. His teaching technique is very casual and fun, almost conversational, and his insights are spot on. He is exactly what I hoped for in an instructor when I started looking at guitar lessons and I would highly recommend him for anyone who loves guitar, regardless of their skill level. He is a 'must hire' professional!

Tim has been a great teacher for my seven-year-old. He was very helpful finding a reasonably priced guitar (that my son loves) and other necessary equipment at the start. My son has really enjoyed his lessons and feels very confident in his growing guitar skills. I would highly recommend Tim to anyone for guitar lessons.

As an adult student, I have been taking mandolin and guitar lessons from Steve for about two years. I would recommend him unquestionably to any prospective student looking to take music lessons. Steve is a down-to-earth instructor who is not only eager to help his students learn but demonstrably excellent at playing and teaching the instruments he teaches. Steve has introduced me to a variety of music from a theory viewpoint, but is eager to help his students define their own path, reflective of their particular musical tastes. I’ve played an array of bluegrass, jazz, blues, and classical music with Steve. Not only has my playing dramatically improved, but my appreciation for the music has improved exponentially. I’ve learned how to diatoni cally examine songs, understand rhythm signatures, identify different scales, solo, and perhaps most importantly, how to practice properly. Whether you’re just looking to play your favorite song, or become a lifelong student of your instrument, Steve is definitely the guy to help you along the path of musical discovery.

I began taking voice lessons from Peter Hostage in May and have been highly satisfied with my decision to do so. If you are considering taking music lessons with Mr. Hostage, know that you can expect a high level of professionalism, a relaxed atmosphere, and most importantly, quality musical instruction. As someone who began singing at an early age, I have had the opportunity to sing both individually and as part of numerous groups. In just three weeks Peter has introduced me to technique that I had not been exposed in my 10+ years singing. I am confident that continued lessons with Mr. Hostage will enhance my vocal ability. The lessons are definitely worth the investment!

I’ve been learning guitar on my own for a while now but working with Devon has already made me get better so much quicker. He knows just about every type of music so he makes it easy to learn whatever songs you like. It’s clear he’s got a masters degree I music but he’s such a nonjudgmental and chill teacher. Recommended if you want to learn guitar, bass, ukulele or how to make electronic music.

Karen is the BEST bass teacher. I have taken lessons from others in the past, and NONE of them matched Karen in terms of her clear communication, step-wise, logical instruction, and her ability to help me start building a solid musical foundation with fun and enjoyment. I recommend her without reservation!

    About

For many years I have worked with students aging from five years of age, my youngest student to date, to seventy-eight years of age, my oldest student to date. This experience encouraged me to create specific lesson plans that catered to each individual student's needs and level of proficiency on their given instrument be it Electric, Acoustic or Classical guitar, Electric Bass and Mandolin. The obstacles presented from teaching such a wide range of students have always been exciting to undertake and highly rewarding. This experience encouraged me to dive deeper in the psychology of learning and to refine my methods time and again. I find it endlessly intriguing to discover how each individual absorbs and integrates information differently and I love when my methods work across the board. What I like most about my job is when a concept or technique that at first appears difficult to a student is grasped and that "ah-ha" moment occurs. I also enjoy the symbiosis, when the learning process becomes mutually beneficial, takes place between the student and the teacher. I love learning from my students as much as I enjoy helping them to learn.

    About

Brant knows the learning process and details of body mechanics as they apply to playing guitar and he has honed his teaching skills through over 15 years of offering private guitar lessons to students in the greater Boston area ranging in age from 10 to 70, from complete beginners to other professional guitarists. In short, he knows how to teach you what you want to learn. If you're looking for a guitar teacher in Boston, whether your dream is to strum your first chords, improvise like Wes Montgomery, write a great prog-rock tune, or be the next Segovia, the learning environment Brant provides at his studio in the South End is one that encourages you while stretching you to achieve more than you thought you could. He caters to all levels, from complete beginners to other performing musicians. Beginning guitarists, you will develop a solid foundation in technique and concepts while learning the tunes you want to play. If you're taking more advanced guitar lessons, you'll learn how to overcome roadblocks in development, deepen your understanding of the instrument and of music, and come to see the guitar as a beginner does - full of potential. Regardless of level, Brant focuses a good deal of attention on "how" to practice, not just what to practice, and on developing a unique curriculum for each student. Everyone also has access to a professional recording studio for any projects they may wish to share. Brant believes being a good instructor means continuing to be a student himself. He continues to deepen his understanding of music and, most important, considers himself a student of his students. He enjoys learning how to mold his approach to each individual student.

    About

Coming from a very musical family, Joe started playing bass at the age of 9. While creating music for his own bands, Joe was quickly utilized as the go-to bassist for jazz band, chorus, string ensemble, and even musicals such as Les Miserable, Hello Dolly, etc. His interest in jazz brought him to Berklee College of Music, where he graduated with a degree in contemporary writing and production. Since then, Joe has toured the UK and Europe with international artist Christian Cuff and as a session musician and has shared the stage with artists such as B.B. King and James Otto. By playing styles from hip-hop to classical and anything in between, Joe now works as a producer/engineer in the world-class Rockinghorse Studios in Pittsfield, NH, while still finding the time to play numerous groups throughout New England. Joe's Teaching Philosophy: "My aim as a teacher is to help the student achieve his or her musical goals, which could be anything from strumming chords at a campfire to auditioning for a band. Either way, my intention is to inspire the student to practice and to inspire him/her to have fun. I strongly encourage students to be creative and develop their own style based on what they love about the music they listen to and ultimately want to play."

    About

Hi, my name is Frank Murphy, and I'm 42. I've been playing guitar for 30 years. Playing guitar is my favorite thing to do and teaching it is just one of its many rewards. Because of the guitar, I've been in bands that have toured. I've recorded several times for myself as well as doing sessions for blues, jazz, rock, metal, country, and shred. I've performed for thousands, and I've met some of the most interesting people. I teach in a manner which will lead you to finding your own voice on the guitar as an individual. I am well versed in music theory. Lessons are $60 for 30 minutes.

    About

I've been in the Rock N' Roll trenches for over 12 years. I've earned my stripes as a guitarist and song writer and am ready to pass on what I know. To what I've learned, through experience, with others. I like the interpersonal connection and satisfection of teaching somebody something knew and exciting. It would be a great tragedy for me if the skills I've developed were never shared.
