VINTAGE STRING celebrates the best in all musical genres with “Throwbacks from Beethoven to Beyoncé.” We are classically trained musicians who perform and embrace a huge range of musical styles. We perform in a range of ensembles to meet every vision and every budget.
We are Boston-based and serve all of New England, including the Cape and Islands. VINTAGE STRING is founded and managed by Vanessa Buttolph and Diane Hastings. Diane and Vanessa are classically-trained string players who perform everywhere from the neighborhood pub to the national touring stage with acts like Josh Groban, Michael Bublé, & the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
We specialize in genres that aren’t typically associated with strings, such as R&B and hip-hop, through original arrangements and medleys of iconic songs by artists like Beyoncé, TLC, and Outkast. In addition to these dynamic original “blends,” we also stay true to our classical roots, and perform the celebrated classical music of the 17th-21st centuries.

Our live pop shows with our signature original medleys are a great fit for cocktail hours, wedding dinners and receptions, engagement parties, and other festive events.
For weddings or special events, VINTAGE STRING will work with you closely to understand your vision and recommend the ensemble and musical selections that will bring a perfect ambiance and style. We can perform as a string solo, duo, trio, or quartet. We also have the option to add vocals, guitars, amplification and custom arrangements.
