About Celia Slattery Voice and Performance Studio

Celia Slattery teaches voice technique for CCM styles (contemporary commercial music like pop, jazz, musical theater, rock, blues, etc). She is a NATS member (National Association of Teachers of Singing) and a certified teacher of Somatic Voicework (tm), a state-of-the-art technique that trains your voice for singing in much the same way that an athlete trains for peak performance.

Celia is a veteran performer and recording artist herself with broad experience in CCM styles and has a passion for teaching. Her students are professional stage, club and recording artists as well as the best shower singers around!

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Do your research. Make sure the teacher has a track record and is a NATS member, at minimum. Don't waste money studying with inexperienced teachers.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Contemporary Commercial Music is different than classical music. If you want to sing jazz, pop, musical theater etc, you need to find someone who understands those styles - as well as someone who has a good grounding in vocal technique.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. A good voice teacher should take the trouble to learn how to sing well, therefore you should be able to listen to clips of them on their website!
