My dog's name is Goofy and Melissa took care of him while I was on vacation. She is an excellent dog sitter. She was patient with him, specially when she gave him his medicine. She played with him constantly and walked him almost every day, which was good for him since I never do it. I truly recommend her services.

Kathy did an amazing job - she is by far the best pet sitter we have ever had the pleasure to work with. I was a little nervous because we had just had a negative experience with a previous (unrelated) pet sitter at Christmas (she skipped some days and we came home to massive messes and a very sick cat), but Kathy was so the complete opposite of this previous sitter. She had no problem following specific instructions, despite some lengthy food/pill regimens, and she even texted pictures daily. She was only a text away and always responded promptly. She came daily for a week while we went on vacation, and gave meds and special food/supplement "concoction" to our elderly female cat, and made sure our younger male cat was happy too. Our cats were happy and healthy when we returned, and I KNOW we will be using her in the future!

Using this website was great. Julie is a great instructor. I was nervous about picking an instructor because I am older and have not been on a horse for many years. Julie is very personable. She has a good sense of humor for working with adult riders. She is an excellent teacher- she cued right in to my needs and helped me feel comfortable right away. I would strongly recommend her.

Yvonne was awesome. I've never felt more comfortable leaving my house and cats with someone. She made sure she saw both cats each time she visited and sent me updates during the week plus a lot of extra things my other cat sitters didn't provide me. Very reliable and I would highly recommend her!

So far I have used the service twice for short periods of cat sitting. During the both of my absences, the sitter visited each day in the morning as promised, performed the tasks she said she would, and - I assume - spent the promised 30 minutes with the cat. She left me a written summary of each visit on a daily basis. She lives close by, which is also a convenience. I plan to continue to use her service in the future.

Patty, was a great lady very affectionate to dogs which takes on her hikes for exercise. She keeps her house very clean. She will accommodate for older dogs that can't walk too far by using a cart or stroller.

We've trusted two generations of felines to Pet-Estrian and they have never disappointed our fur persons or the humans who care for the felines' home. The cats are exercised and groomed in addition to the usual feeding/cleaning. I've recommended them to many...not something I do casually. Try 'em, your pets will thank you.

They took care of my three cats on short notice. They visited twice a day in order to give one of my cats his antibiotics. They texted me updates and photos. They made my business trip a little less stressful knowing my cats were in good hands. I came home to three happy and safe cats! Thank you, Pup Patrol Walkers & Sitters!

When I began working with Candace my good fox hunting mare, Tabasco, was showing signs of back pain/tenderness. Tabasco had a ground-covering,hollow-back trot. Candace worked with Tabasco and quickly the mare began using herself properly, that was mid hunting season last year. Now the mare shows no signs of back tenderness and is LOVELY to hunt as she works in a nice round frame, crosses the hunt country in a delightful canter and I am one very happy rider!

I offer pet care for pets requiring both normal and special needs care. I'm mature and very patient and will take the time to help calm and ease pets that are prone to being hyper. Larger dogs are also okay.

I have been a paid dog walker/sitter for over two years. I own four dogs of my own back home and grew up with a dog trainer for a father, so I have experience in feeding, walking, and caring for dogs for a reasonable price. I am also willing to watch your home while with your dog and pick up mail, water plants, etc. I miss my buddies back home, and I would love to make a new friend here in Boston!

I will walk your dog in the neighborhood or dog park. If you go on vacation, I will come to your home and care for your dog, cat, bird, snake, guinea pig or any type of pet or combination of pets you have. Also, I will water plants, bring in mail and put trash out.

Does your dog get bored while you're at work? Let him/her come play in our huge fenced yard at doggie daycare. Going on vacation? Let your dog have one too at our house in a private country setting. We also do daily walks and pet sitting for cats and other pets, as well as pet photography.

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

      • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
      • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
        • 45-minute visit: $28.
        • 60-minute visit: $32.
      • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
      • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
        • 12 hours: $100.
        • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
