Provides half our drum lessons at a fair price. So far scheduling has been flexible. He is very patient and calm with small children.

I’ve been taking drum lessons with Phil for almost a year now and I would definitely recommend him to anyone! He’s extremely accommodating, talented and knows his stuff. I had almost zero experience with drumming when I first started with him and he’s helped me to grow so much.

In my experience, Phil has been a fantastic drum instructor. Having played drums for a few years prior to taking up lessons with him, he has shown me (and continues to show me) more than I ever thought I could learn about my instrument.

Phil has been great to work with! He has a nice, positive way of encouraging my son but also pushing him to try harder. He treats my son with respect but keeps lessons fun. He's also very responsive to emails, always on time, and organized. I would recommend Phil to anyone looking to pick up a percussion instrument!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

ONLINE weekly lesson pricing - 30 minute lessons - $30 per lesson 45 minute lessons - $45 per lesson 1 hour lessons - $60 per lesson (In-person lessons are not possible right now due to COVID, but once we can go back, I offer in-person rates at different locations around Worcester that are comparable to these)

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

When we sit down for our first lesson, I like to do a little drum set tutorial with the new student. I will ask what goals they may have, and what level of experience they have had on the drums so far. Some students have specifics in mind, while others are interested in just having fun learning to be a drummer! For younger students, I will also have a quick conversation with their parents to get them on board to help facilitate a basic practice routine. (Parental support is very helpful for kids learning a new instrument.) I do typically ask students to buy a book to work out of. I like to teach out of the "Breaking It Down" book series by Kevin White. It's a very fun drum set book series, and it works for any age group. As an example lesson for your typical drum student: I'll generally get students doing a combination of basic drum rudiments, techniques, & coordination exercises from the book, as well as what I call "Listen & Play" lessons, where we will listen to a popular song and try to figure out the groove.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Masters in Music from College-Conservatory of Music, Cincinnati OH Bachelor of Music from Hartt School of Music, Hartford CT
