Joe is absolutely a consummate professional!!! He ran into some issues with fishing the wire through tightly packed spray foam behind the wall. He is an extremely patient person! I would have been throwing tools, but that's why I called Joe. I would highly recommend him for tv wall mount installation, but I'm sure he excels in whatever else he is gifted in. Thanks so much Joe!!! Shawn (East Boston)

Ralph shows up on time and did a nice job mounting my 65'' TV on the wall and concealing the cables. Ralph even went to the nearest Walmart to get me an extra HDMI cable to finish the job. I will definitely request his assistance in the future.

We had our usual handyman mount our TV on 12/10/17 but he didn't do the wires. Not sure why but he didn't. I came on Thumbtack the next day (12/11) skeptical because I've had a lot of duds but Ben was fantastic. He responded back and forth very quickly through all my crazy questions and scheduled for the very next day (12/12). The morning of he called to say he'd be just a little late and apologized. Most do not call. When he arrived he immediately asked if he should remove his shoes and for my vacuum to clean while he worked. I have NEVER had a handyman do this and it's SO important to me. I hire out because my husband and I don't want to do these things - why should we then clean up? Ben came with all the supplies and even when he hit several roadblocks with short wires he found solutions. The end result is gorgeous! Thank you, Ben!!

This was my first time using Thumbtack and it was a great experience! My wife and I hired Sam to mount/install a 50" TV above our fireplace. He was flexible when scheduling, fairly priced, and very professional - an all around pleasure to work with. The job was completed perfectly (centered and level) and expeditiously. I would hire Sam again in a second.

Robert was very helpful and completed a large project in my home in a short period of time and for a lower price than most of the other quotes I received. I had new ceiling lights installed in 3 rooms that needed all brand new wiring. He also helped mount my tv on the wall, put a new light over the kitchen sink and fixed an outlet. He was friendly, professional and courteous. I plan on using him again for a couple projects again at the end of the summer.

I HIGHLY recommend Ralph St. George/KZM Home Improvements for any home project you may be considering. Highering someone site unseen from a web service can be nerve wracking, but Ralph/KZM will not disappoint! I took the chance recently for a TV mounting and shelf building project in my new home. Ralph made a point of meeting me first, assessing my project needs and giving me a fair quote. The quality of Ralph's work, attention to detail, promptness, and courteousness were amazing! Despite the fact that the project had some unforeseen complications, Ralph was persistent in trying to find a resolution to the problem, often taking time beyond his projection to follow up, either personally or with a phone call. I respect this tremendously. I will definitely use Ralph's services for future project needs, as I am more than happy with the end result, and would encourage anyone else contemplating his services site unseen to be rest assured.

I needed someone to put an outlet/cable behind my wall so the TV wires were not visible. It was too complex for me to do because my TV is above a fireplace. He was thorough and installed a new outlet and outlet for the cable above the fireplace and behind my TV in short notice as well. No complaints would hire again!

I had Smart Guys mount a new 65" TV along with some lighting which looks great with the lights off while watching movies. Overall very clean and professional installation. They also helped me connect the TV and all my other devices with voice control with the Amazon echo. Will be using them again for future home entertainment needs

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who wall mounts TVs?

Electricians, handymen and TV installation specialists may all provide television mounting services. The person who does the mounting should be qualified and knowledgeable about basic construction concepts as well as working with audiovisual cables. In general, no specialized certificates are required to provide television mounting services, but as always do your diligence and make smart hiring decisions.

It’s important to find an experienced professional who will ensure the TV wall mount meets building code. Most regions have fire codes that don’t permit high-voltage power cords behind walls (low-voltage wires like HDMI and video cables are generally acceptable). A basic wall mount on drywall may take approximately one to two hours, while more complex mounts on brick or stone with hidden cables can take three or more hours. If you need more electrical outlets installed near your entertainment system, you may want to hire an electrician. Check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

What should you do with a broken LCD TV?

Nationally, the average price range for TV repair is $60-$90. LCD TV repairs are one of the most common TV repair requests. A liquid crystal display (LCD) TV uses the same technology as your smartphone and most computer screens. Images are created on an LCD screen by electric currents that pass or block light through liquid crystals that are encased between two polarized, glass-like sheets. LCD TVs can be very thin and are relatively affordable, making them one of the most prevalent types of TV on the market. If you have a broken LCD TV, it can probably be repaired. Common problems that can be repaired include a blank screen, sound issues, power problems and digital connection problems. Here is one example of LCD TV repair cost:

  • 55-inch Samsung LCD TV repair: $150, including parts and labor
    • The LCD was intermittently powering up and powering off. The main circuit board was removed and replaced.

Can you fix a flat screen TV?

Yes, you can usually fix a flat screen TV. Whether you have a plasma, LED, OLED, HDR, HD or even LCD, TV repair pros can repair your TV. Flat screen TVs are expensive, and when they stop working it can make your heart stop. But TV repair technicians have advanced along with TV technology and are equipped with the proper tools and training for major and minor repairs. If your flat screen is too massive to transport, most repair companies have pickup and drop-off service. For the most common problems, TV repair pricing might range between $175 and $200 on average. Here are examples of the most common problems:

  • Power problems: The TV won’t turn on or will not stay on once started.
  • Digital problems: All connections are in place but you’re not receiving any signal.
  • Sound problems: There is no sound, the volume doesn’t respond to attempts to raise or lower it, or the volume is inconsistent.
  • Screen problems: The TV is on but there is no picture.

How much does it cost to mount a TV?

Elevate your home style with television mounting services. The national average price for television mounting services ranges between $100 and $130. Factors that can affect cost are the material of the wall you want the TV mounted on, whether you want the wires hidden, and any additional entertainment system connection you desire. It probably costs more to mount a TV on brick, stone or concrete than on drywall or plaster due to the added labor required to drill holes. For example, a company may charge an additional $99 to mount a TV on a brick wall. Here are some examples of average costs for television mounting services:

  • Basic TV wall mount: $40. Does not include bracket, device connection or strip management.
  • TV wall mount: $119. Includes bracket, mounting services, strip management system (for concealing external wires), and connection of all entertainment devices.
  • TV wall mount with wires hidden inside wall: $139.
  • Installation of additional electrical outlet: $65.
  • TV wall mount over fireplace with wires hidden: $179-$249.
  • TV wall mount and up to 5 speakers wall-mounted with hidden wires: $399.

Can a TV be mounted above a fireplace?

You may be able to mount your flat screen TV above your fireplace for a more streamlined look in your living room. In fact, TV mounting professionals can hang your flat screen TV flush with a wall or from a tilting or full-motion bracket mount in any room in your home. A tilting or full-motion mount may be the best option above a fireplace so you can tilt the TV down for the best viewing angle. Whether the wall above your fireplace is brick, drywall, concrete, stone or plaster, most television mounting services can accommodate your needs. Hardier wall surfaces like concrete or brick will require more labor and expertise to mount, and will likely have a higher price range.

If you want your AV and cable wires hidden in the wall, you will also pay a higher price due to the added time and skill to properly drill the holes and run wires. Before mounting your TV above your fireplace, consult with the manufacturer about necessary distance from heat sources. If the space above your fireplace gets too warm, another location could be better for the longevity of your TV. Your television mounting services may take between one and two hours, or more depending on your home theater setup.
