At 66 years old, I inherited my sister’s 100+ lb. Cane Corso, Ginger, although I already had a 60 lb. husky mix, Elf. Ginger, although very sweet-tempered, is very stubborn and strong willed and has pulled the lead out of my hand during a walk to chase a smaller dog down the street. She is territorial but once she chased the dog from our property, not even attempting to catch him, she came back to me to see why I was yelling at her and generally behaving badly in her eyes. I was afraid that I would not be able to keep her because walking her would likely have led to injuries to her or me or both of us, though giving her up wasn't an option since she is a family member. I have seen the hurt and bewildered big dogs at the shelters. Big dogs are always the last to be adopted, if they are adopted at all. Rosie and RJ from Calm on CommandK9 got Ginger to where she is non-reactive on walks and around people when we are out. Their training is for dogs and their people but I’m sure that people are the bigger issue. There are frequently non-leashed dogs in our neighborhood, so I am still nervous when walking Ginger, but Ginger is calm. Her calmness helps me to remain calm. Ginger is still nervous around new people and especially children and men, but her training has helped her to realize that she can be confident and unafraid around new people. Training (for dogs and their people) is an ongoing process and Rosie and RJ are very responsive and help with any issues I bring to them, big or small. They are helping me to stay the course with the training regimen and have worked miracles with my two very strong-willed dogs. I know I would not have been able to keep Ginger in our home without them.

I can't say enough good things about Calm on Command K9 or their owners/trainers, RJ and Rose. Fitch is a 2 1/2 yo Rottweiler. She belonged to my son, who died suddenly, leaving Fitch without an owner, a friend (another Rottie owned by my son - rehomed with my daughter) and a home. She had fear aggression. She is heading to boot camp tomorrow, but RJ and Rose have successfully introduced themselves to Fitch (never thought that would happen) and were essential in helping me get her to a vet to be spayed. I'm convinced that the boot camp training will morph Fitch into the wonderful dog she is capable of being and will help her transition to a forever family!

My Larry is an Akita. Larry could not interact with any other dogs or any person. It was really difficult. He could not go to the groomers, we could not leave him with anyone and go on vacation. We have tried several dog training classes and one on one training, nothing has worked. CHOOSE RJ…RJ has changed our lives. We sent our dog Roger to Calm on Command’s four week bootcamp and have seen a complete transformation in our dog's behavior. Before, our dog was aggressive, and out of control on walks, now walks are relaxed and enjoyable. Rosie and Rj taught us how to communicate with our dog and curb his unruly behavior. We feel so lucky to have found Rj and Rosie. They are knowledgeable, kind, and passionate about what they do. I reached out to them after working with two other trainers. I was struggling with my dogs reactivity to other dogs and people while on leash. She was also very shy around new people. We sent Ollie to bootcamp and she came back a new dog! She has no reactivity and has become much more confident around new people. We get compliments all the time about her obedience. She has definitely mastered being calm on command. You absolutely will not find better trainers than Rosie and Rj.

Our bootcamp board and train, private lesson packages, group lessons, and everything about our services & rates is meticulously explained on our website. Please fill out a contact form so you no longer have to struggle with your dog.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We want you to be as excited about working with us as we are about connecting with you. We’re very transparent. We explain everything about our methods on our website. You can ‘see our work’ videos page. You can read all our ‘frequently asked questions’ to learn about our training process and the tools we use. You can see all our ‘services’ meticulously explained. And you don’t have to guess about cost because we plainly display all our ‘rates’. When you see that we’re a good fit for you please fill out a contact form so we can understand everything about your situation and your goals before we get on the phone together. When we get your contact form we’ll reach out to schedule a time to talk so we can put our heads together and come up with a plan to help you and you pup have your best life together.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Combined Rosie and Rj have over 30 years of training experience. Prior to relocating to the Baltimore area, Rj was voted top dog trainer in Phoenix two years in a row. Rosie comes from a background in rescue and rehabilitation, specifically the rehabilitation of feral street dogs. There is no greater education than working/training thousands of dogs.
