My Larry is an Akita. Larry could not interact with any other dogs or any person. It was really difficult. He could not go to the groomers, we could not leave him with anyone and go on vacation. We have tried several dog training classes and one on one training, nothing has worked. CHOOSE RJ…RJ has changed our lives. I am able to watch the trainings life, I can see the progress that Larry is making. I wish I found RJ sooner. Thank you so much. Thank you for loving Larry. I see the hugs and kisses you give Larry. I see how Larry respond to you. "People get a dog, because they want a friend. People hire a dog trainer, because they don't want their friend to be an asshole.” I love you and your amazing team

I will tell you that 5 stars are simply inadequate for reviewing Zen Rj Dog training! In fact there are not enough stars in this galaxy to reflect how completely thrilled we are with the work RJ has done with our sweet dog Rajah. Our initial plan was to do one on one training with me and Rajah and Rj, as he had a lot of commands down. I had been working with him every day since we got him. HOWEVER, after the 2nd lesson, I decided to do the boot camp. BEST DECISION EVER!! We now have a dog I can and do, take everywhere, and the first thing people say is how well behaved he is. It is a fabulous feeling to take your dog out knowing he is going to do as you say and not misbehave. Awesome recall, calm on command, does as he is asked and lies down quietly for as long as I tell him to. He is still just as sweet, no change in personality. I have learned the true meaning of how to be the best pack leader I can to him. Rj teaches you and your dog much much more than just commands, but truly how to communicate with your dog, and lets your dog understand what you expect of him. He helps you understand and avoid the common mistakes that we people often make with our dogs, because we love them, but then provide the recipe for misbehavior by not setting the appropriate limits and structure for them. My husband and children were amazed at his transformation. Neighbors too! Always a good dog he is now AMAZING!! Yes Rj uses e-collars. The level my dog works off of I cannot feel. At the point I can feel it, it feels like a Tens unit. NOT shock.DUH! Rj trains the dogs in his home which is a lovely, immaculate, safe, warm setting. His own dogs, who of course are perfectly behaved, are mentors to the untrained little heathens entering boot camp. They taught Rajah how to play appropriately and have nice puppy manners with other dogs. Rj approaches dog training with an incredible passion, kindness, an enormous wealth of knowledge and love. I am so grateful to the Universe for putting us in his path, I can’t imagine ever using a different trainer or a different method. Rj ROCKS!! Worth every CENT!! We couldn’t be happier! Singing the Hallelujah chorus!!!

We haven’t worked with RJ (yet!) but only because he’s located a bit far from us. I got in touch to ask advice on basic training for our new 3 month old puppy and he spent half an hour on the phone answering all my questions. He’s super knowledgeable and offered lots of great tips. He responded quickly to my email, set up a time for a call and helpfully referred us to another trainer closer to our area that would be more convenient. Even though we didn’t use him as our trainer, he’s reached out since our conversations just to see how things are going with our pup. I would definitely go with RJ if we were closer by! Great service and very professional!

We own a 2 year old Australian Shepherd and had been at a loss for how to curb his fear-agressive behavior. We live in Chicago and did several local trainings, sent him to a doggie bootcamp in Indiana, and tried "calming" bites for when friends would come over. Still, no serious change. Then we discovered RJ and started learning from his free videos on Instagram and Youtube. We saw the numerous transformations in front of our eyes and knew we had to get Bruce to meet RJ. Problem was... RJ was 2,000 miles away. We reached a point where the distance didn't matter. We weren't going to ever get rid of our dog and we knew RJ could help. After a 2,000 mile road trip, we left Bruce under RJ's care for 5 weeks. During that time he kept us updated on Bruce's progress, shared videos with us (both private and publicly on his social media pages) and prepared us for when we would reunite with Bruce.Since Bruce's pick-up, we have received constant support from RJ and are so grateful to know that even though Bruce technically finished his stay with RJ, he is still cared for and RJ still asks about Bruce.Whether you're in the Baltimore area or 2,000 miles away, send your troubled pup to RJ. We can't recommend his service enough and feel like we want to become dog trainers because of him.

When I first met RJ I had Kady in a muzzle and was trying to socialize her at Home Depot. He curiously asked me what I was doing with her. I told him that she was very reactive and I was trying to change the behavior by exposing her to things that set her off. The things that set her off were strangers, mostly men, bikes and other dogs. She would lunge, bark growl and she actually even bit a cyclist. RJ explained that he was a dog trainer and had worked with many dogs that had similar issues to Kadys. After having a phone consult with him I was hopeful that he would be able to help her. Kady spent an entire month being rehabilitated. When she came back she was completely transformed. I never thought that I would be able to take her to a public place but now I can. I have even traveled stress free with her. I even take her out to dog friendly patios and she is perfect. No more barking, lunging or growling. The hard work and the new conversation with things that set kady off worked, it was truly a miracle! RJ is patient, kind and an awesome teacher. He helped me become the dog owner that Kady needed me to be. It feels amazing to have a stress free life with her. Thank you youve truly changed our lives for the better.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Regarding private lessons, dog training requires more than one lesson to achieve lasting results. I offer your first lesson at $100, so there’s no obligation to buy a private lesson package. When you see the breakthroughs in the very first lesson and decide to continue working with me, I will credit $100 toward any training package I offer. It all works out to be $100 per hour for lessons. If I travel to you then I charge .50 cents per mile for each mile in excess of 10 miles distance from me. So if you live 10 miles away, there is no charge. If you live 20 miles away, then my travel cost for the round trip will be $20. If you live 40 miles away then the round trip would be $40. This helps me absorb the cost of tolls. Regarding bootcamps and all my packages, everything about me, and my services, and my rates, are meticulously explained on my website. Please fill out a contact form so you no longer have to struggle with your dog.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I want you to be as excited about working with me as I am about connecting with you. I’m very transparent. I explain everything about myself and my methods on my website. You can ‘see my work’ videos page. You can read all my ‘frequently asked questions’ to learn about my training process and the tools I use. You can see all my ‘services’ meticulously explained. And you don’t have to guess about cost because I plainly display all my ‘rates’. When you see that I’m a good fit for you please fill out a contact form so I can understand everything about your situation and your goals before we get on the phone together. When I get your contact form I’ll reach out to schedule a time to talk so we can put our heads together and come up with a plan to help you and you pup have your best life together.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Training dogs has been my obsession since I was a kid. I lost a dog early in life because he wasn’t trained. I’ve got over 25 years of experience actually working with dogs and their humans. I’m very well known in Phoenix Arizona for creating Zenergy Dog Training with my partner. We were voted best dog trainer in Phoenix for 2019 and voted in the top 5 for 2018. In Phoenix I’m famous for rehabilitating severe canine behaviors. I’m well known as the last stop for clients who have tried several unsuccessful trainers. My credentials are my previous clients. Check out my 5 star rating on my Yelp listing for Zenergy Dog Training to see how I’ve helped other people and dogs. You’ll see my name in every review. Also check out my Google listing for Zenergy Dog Training. I’ve never met a dog a I couldn’t help. Any age. Any breed. Any size. Any problem. The dogs are the easier part. Helping humans be the leaders their dog needs them to be is the bigger challenge. Dog training is a team sport. We all need to be on the same page to achieve dramatic lasting results.
