I am currently teaching online lessons only. My students’ ages range from 7 and up. We just had out seventh virtual recital. It was quite a success and the response was quite enthusiastic. If you are interested the requirement is that you have a piano—digital with weighted keys or an acoustic piano, internet connection and a laptop, tablet or desktop.
I have taught piano for 40 years in a school setting as well as in a private setting. My primary focus is classical music.
As a retired music educator, I have found a great deal of joy and satisfaction sharing what I love. I currently have several piano students who are flourishing. Because of my love of playing the piano and the experience with studying with various teachers, I have an empathetic approach to teaching piano.

Mrs. Starks is a phenomenal piano teacher. Her entire family is musical and she has a wealth of experience teaching music. She taught me as a child/pre-teen, and now, she teaches my daughters (ages 7 and 9). Mrs. Starks has a refreshing ability to pinpoint individual ability and teach to the child/person. She is very patient with my daughters I have seen, in just a few weeks, amazing musical growth. I highly recommend her as a piano/music teacher.

Mrs. Starks is an outstanding piano teacher! My son started lessons with her over two years ago. She is dedicated, organized, and patient; but yet firm enough to handle my "strong and sometimes impatient" 9 year old. He likes to do things his way, yet she keeps him focused and growing. She is extremely gifted and holds his attention weekly, which led us to increase his class time to one hour. I am grateful for the record of weekly assignments that enable the parents and students to keep on track and review challenging pieces. She allows my son to pick out his personal"passionate" pieces and diligently teaches him to play them whether its been in school or church recitals. She is the best piano teacher this side of the east coast. I highly recommend her you won't be disappointed.

I try to get to know the student first. We talk about past musical experience, the interest for specific styles, what a student brings in terms of natural ability and we discuss goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I’ve studied piano from the age of 8. I had private teachers during my elementary through grad school years.
