My 12 year old son has been taking regular tennis lessons from Roger Compton. We met Roger by chance on a local court and he was very friendly, and open to taking on the coaching assignment. It was the second time my son had regular lessons in a 1/1 coaching situation and in a matter of 6 weeks he was ready to start playing level 7 tournaments under USTA. Roger taught my son in detail about the basic strokes and helped him focus on fundamentals before trying to perfect those strokes. He taught him how to volley and gave him confidence to attack the net. He taught my son how to use his feet and how to use top-spin on his forehand. All in all a very good experience for getting my 12 year old's game on track.

Roger Compton has been giving tennis lessons to our 13-year-old son for four months. We are very pleased with the results, and we plan to continue the lessons. Roger is a very patient teacher who knows the technical details as well as the strategy of the game. He has a very well-organized lesson plan, and his style of teaching works very well with our son. Roger is able to motivate our son to try to improve with positive motivational messages, while at the same time keeping him focused. We highly recommend Roger as a tennis instructor. In fact, based on our recommendation, one of our son's friends has also begun taking lessons with him.

I am an intermediate player and I am taking semi-private lessons with Roger. I have taken many tennis lessons in the past and I've never had as dedicated and as fabulous of coach as Roger. I greatly appreciate Roger's detailed explanations and breakdowns of all strokes and strategies. After all these years of lessons, it's finally clicking! I also love all the drills - they are repetitive enough to gain muscle memory, but Roger changes it up enough to keep things fun. Roger is energetic and cheerful; I always feel like staying longer to play or chat.

I know Alex for couple years as a talented and skilled martial arts professional and also a great fitness instructor. Both self and my son are trained by him at Master Lee's Martial Arts Taekwondo school of Sterling,VA. We are very happy we met him so he explained and helped a lot to be well-trained and feel much better about many things. He always provides easy to follow techniques with related explanations, advises and hand-on demonstratoinons. Greatly recommended! Outstanding instructor/professional!

This was my first Thumbtack experience so I did not know what to expect. I called Alex and booked an initial meeting for a self defense class. I was so impressed with his knowledge and ability to teach to me (someone with absolutely no experience in self defense) that I hired him immediately. I would recommend him in a minute, I can't explain how much fun each training is while at the same time also getting a tailored workout as well as learning useful and practical skills!!

Alex is very professional, communicative and pleasant to work with. My children very much enjoy the lessons and are clearly learning the different skills that Alex is teaching them. We've only had a few lessons, but we are very pleased so far.

I am not keen on exercise, but I know how importnat it is, so I look for activities I can truly enjoy so that I'll stick with it. After a demo class on Middle East dancing (belly dancing to most of us), I decided this was for me! Mary made the classes a lot of fun. There was no pressure on those of us who were not the most coordinated or graceful dancers. Everyone was supportive and encouraged others when they did something well. We all got the colorful scarves with metal dangles and felt totally ready for the sultan's harem! The music was exotic and came from many countries, and that was a nice bonus I had not really considered. Best of all, this was great exercise. I was expecting to exercise the tummy muscles, and it did not surprise me that my legs also got workout, but I did not expect to feel the exercise in my arms. It is a full-body workout. I have a broken ankle right now and am not doing ANY exercise, but I miss my dance class and am eager to get back. I can't remember ever feeling that way about an exercise class!

Mary Krause was wonderful!!! She conducted a Zumba session recently at our Health Fair and everyone had a great time--still getting compliments. I will definitely recommend--she had all ages (kids, teens, adults) doing Zumba. The lesson was performed so that everyone could participate. Thanks so much.

I have worked with Wil as a tennis coach, both in a group setting as well as one on one lessons. Wil is patient and observant and is dedicated to each of his students. I found Wil analyzed my playing and skill level and then proceeded to ask me some of my goals and then we began our lessons. Wil found several different techniques to help me break some bad habits I had formed and needed to get rid of those habits in order to progress. I would recommend Will to anyone seeking tennis instruction, and hope he is available for me to continue lessons with him in the future.

About

I teach students that are young, usually those from elementary school to high school. I've experienced coaches that are too harsh on their students, thus the students are pushed to the limit of giving up. I incorporate a structured lesson so that the students are enjoying tennis.

Co-founder of Grip The Mat, a yoga events company in Washington, DC, I teach yoga at various locations throughout the DMV area. I found yoga in 2009 as a former dancer. I enjoyed the physical practice similar to dance, but discovered something deeper after transitioning to Washington, DC in 2013. With a hectic work schedule living in a bustling city, I needed yoga for stress management and physical exercise. I knew I wanted to share this healthy practice with others, so I completed the 200-hour teacher training at The Studio DC. Studying with master teachers Bryan Kest and Govind Das, I learned to respect my body and clear my head through tools like the breath. To me, yoga is a source of joy that spreads throughout all aspects of one’s life. I strive to continue learning and sharing the practice with others.

About

RJ Tennis Boot Camp is in Fairfax, VA, and is quite a drive from Washington, DC and Maryland. If there is no traffic, it is at least a 30-minute drive, but when is there no traffic?! If you're willing to make the commute to be a part of this great program, then go through the process for me to send you a quote. As the director and owner of RJ Tennis Boot Camp, I wanted to create and develop an exciting tennis program where, if I were the client, I would be willing to rearrange my work schedule so that I could make the tennis clinics each week. I recognize people have busy lives, places they have to be and things they have to do. If you're like me, you don't want to stand around and wait for the tennis pro to decide what to do. In the short amount of time that you have available to do your tennis clinics, I want to be sure you get to hit a ton of tennis balls, play with and against, if possible, like minded athletes who all want to give their best for an hour and a half. I want the clinics to be so much fun and challenging that you and all of my clients can't wait to tell their friends about their experience. The RJ Tennis Boot Camp adult tennis clinics are different than any other adult tennis program. From introducing the brand new program with a total of seven classes just 5 years ago, the RJT program has grown to become the most popular adult tennis program in the Metro Area. The RJT drills and games are uniquely suited for seven adults where all of the players get to hit a lot of tennis balls while experiencing a challenging, stimulating, fun and exhilarating tennis experience. "The boot camp drills and live ball clinics really work," stated a client of mine in a recent e-mail. The truth is I have to say that I have never seen a program where so many adults seriously improve in such short period of time. This is clearly a nontraditional approach to learning the game of tennis. However, the bottom line is that it works. The whole format of the RJ Tennis Boot Camp has many benefits. Not only will your tennis game improve, not only will your physical agility improve, but you will get mentally stronger out there on the courts, and you may even lose some weight. Many of my clients keep me informed as to how they have been dropping weight since starting up this class. In fact, one of my clients has dropped 30 pounds. With that stated, your improvement depends completely upon you and the efforts you put into the hitting and into the agility drills. You will get back exactly what you put in. Find someone in the group who is pushing themselves and challenging themselves, when no one else seems to be looking, and get next to that person and push yourself just as hard. I know this class works. This is a class I wish I could be taking every day. The RJT clinics are group oriented. Due to the number of players in the group clinics, the clinics are not lessons. However, the RJT clients are improving. It's a different approach to learning and playing the game of tennis. You get to hit a ton of tennis balls in simulated match like drills. The RJT coaches give you coaching tips for things for you to work on. It's pure tennis enjoyment. RJ Tennis Boot Camp is so much more than just running around and hitting a couple of tennis balls. For many, it's the highlight of their week. I have a new website that is under construction. I don't have the fall schedule posted on the site at this time. I am working with the web master to take care of that this week. If what you have read is of interest to you, please request the fall schedule. We have a full family of RJT Clinics for every level, from 1.5 to 4.5: boot camp drills and live ball, extreme boot camp drills and live ball, RJT game on!, RJT live ball, RJT singles live ball and just boot camp drills. You don't have to know what each of these classes mean, or what they're all about to be able to see that this tennis program is uniquely singular. There is great energy, enthusiasm and excitement here at RJ Tennis. I have clients who drive long distances to be in the classes. I have other out-of-state clients who make it a point to drop into a class whenever they're in Virginia. Please feel free to drop me a line. I look forward to the opportunity of serving you. Thank you for your time. Respectfully, Rob
