We used Denise for marriage counseling. She is approachable and extremely knowledgeable. We appreciated her warmth and ability to help us navigate our relationship as we became empty nesters. We feel that with her assistance we now better communicate and have developed a better sense of trust. We know that we can go visit her for a "tune up" anytime!
My husband and I received marriage counseling from Rev. Mills. As a marriage counselor, his fees were very low and affordable for anyone who truly can't afford the astronomical prices of counseling. He was a great listener, didn't take sides, and help us to see why our communication with one another didn't work. Rev. Mills gave us homework to do after each session and shared with us valuable insights on marriage, family, and what we needed to do if we wanted to truly save our marriage. We would recommend him to anyone who needs counseling. Thank you, Rev. Mills for your work with us and saving us from the path of divorce. Shana
Marian was great to work with for relationship counseling. She was insightful and direct yet had a caring nature.
My wife Marcia and I had a good experience with Pastor Milton. He was down to earth, beyond friendly, and approached the counseling with passion and biblical fervor. My wife and I addressed alot of the typical issues before counseling, but Pastor Milton helped us expound on it by using examples from his marriage.
My wife Lindsey and I had the pleasure of working with Art as our pastor throughout our wedding process over 5 months. We had met Art through family friends and immediately hit it off. We knew that Art would be the best fit for marriage counseling and officiating our wedding as he paid tremendous attention to detail. He wanted to know every bit of our "story", any reservations or hesitations about marriage (and our special day), and how we wanted to incorporate our love for God into our ceremony. As we are busy, career-driven professionals, it was wonderful to have a pastor that was up on the times and could easily jump on Skype to have counseling sessions remotely. Art was very flexible and accommodating as far as scheduling counseling sessions, and was able to roll with some of the curveballs thrown on our wedding day (e.g. down pouring in the middle of our ceremony and starting back up again at another location). But most importantly, Art was able to help us better prepare for a lasting marriage with a clear mind, warm soul, and open heart. He helped us ask the difficult questions to one another as we were preparing to be married. We addressed faith, money, family, and even specific details about our wedding day. We loved how easy Art was to talk to and how excited he was to be a part of our day! The personal touch he added to our ceremony, through incorporating our families and what he had learned about us in counseling, allowed us to more clearly see the true meaning of our wedding day: the beautiful act of marriage in front of God and our loving friends and families.
My husband and I loved working with Mrs. Rochelle Toyer, for pre- marital counseling! It was fun as well as educational. Mrs. Toyer makes you feel comfortable when discussing any topic. She is also very energetic, which really makes you look forward to the next session! The sessions didn't feel scripted,as I hear others describe their counseling sessions. If you are thinking of using Mrs. Toyer services, you will not be disappointed!
Avi was someone who was very professional yet down to earth. I felt completely understood and valued and was also impressed with the meaningful feedback and direction which I received in therapy. After looking everywhere for a competent therapist, Avi exceeded my expectations.

The fall of 2014 was a turning point in my life. I was experiencing a crisis in that I was turning another year older and needed to find some perspective and direction in my life. My inability to truly understand my purpose created a state of panic and anxiety and I didn't know what to do. During this time I was referred to Center of First Thought. At first I was a little apprehensive about seeing a therapist but I was immediately put at ease. My therapist, Rose Shelton and I talked about my life path. I was able to put a lot of things into perspective. I thought of her as like a coach. Thanks to Ms. Shelton I have learned to see things more clearly and a lot of my anxiety about the future has disappeared. I am still growing and learning my path but I don't know if I could have come this far if it had not been for Ms. Shelton and Center of First Thought.

Greetings! My name is Kate, and I am a counseling professional in the Washington D.C. area. I have been working in the field of psychology since 2006, and I have been practicing as a family therapist since 2012. I am trained in the Functional Family Therapy model, an evidence-based, short-term model of therapy. Other areas of practice include marriage counseling as well as individual counseling. I am offering professional counseling services to clients in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. As a professional in the field, I have come to appreciate the importance of engaging the individuals, couples and families with whom I work in a setting that is most comfortable and convenient, for them. I travel to my clients at times and locations they specify. From the busy mom who has a few hours free while her kids practice after school sports to the business professional who'd like to utilize the office's empty conference room during their lunch hour, I make my services available at times and locations most comfortable for my clients. I also offer virtual therapy sessions at a reduced rate. Please check out specifics in the questions and answer section on my page. Please note I do not accept insurance; however, I believe you will find my prices to be reasonable. Because I am still in the process of fulfilling licensing requirements, I accept a reduced hourly rate for my service. Specific pricing information is located in the questions and answer section as well. Please note I do not complete formal assessments or diagnostics for severe psychological conditions. I am also unable to prescribe medication, as I am not a medical doctor.
