I submitted a late request for rodent removal and C&D came first thing the next morning. Dave was able to tell me where the mouse may have entered and sealed those areas as well as left traps around the house. He was extremely informative and I felt comfortable again in my home when he left. He knows what he's doing because the next morning the mouse was caught in one of his traps! I am so thankful!

Came a bit earlier so I was "late" to the meeting point. Price went up from $129 to $199. This was for a dryer vent, cleaning. Replacement was quoted at $350. First I turned down the quotes, but came back and offered to clean for $150. I was there, and it needed doing, so OK, I agreed, though I almost said no. Job was good and took one hour. Had the equipment and accepted a personal check.

Frank is a very professional and knowledgeable guy who values giving great customer service. He came out to my house and assessed my issues (carpenter bees, ants, and paper wasps)..explained to me in depth about how the pests needed to be treated and made sure i understood each step of the process before he began. He even gave me suggestions on how to deal with damaged fascia boards (carpenter bees) and shared advice on repair options. He is very thorough and I could honeslty say he takes pride in his work. Im now an annual services customer because of how great of a job Frank does at his craft. I highly recommend his work if you need pest treatments.

From start to finish, Eric and team were invaluable in handling our raccoon problem. Always prompt, courteous and professional, we were so thankful we decided to trust Pest Proof once it was completed. The job was quite intense including the trapping & removal of two adult raccoons, removal & replacing of all attic contents and insulation, disinfection & deodorizing of the attic prior to laying new insulation and securing gable vents to prevent future entry. Eric was always available when we called, even when awaiting the birth of their new son! We are so appreciative to Eric and his team, and wish them the best of luck.

I really appreciate EJ’s Pest Control. After having another company cancelled my original appointment on the day of service, EJ was able to provide same day service. The staff were well trained and very professional. Although they were unable to locate the snake in my basement, they completed a thorough inspection of that area and did an excellent job placing the repellent around the perimeter and inside of the home. Not to mention their work is warranted for 30 days - that provides a great peace of mind. You should know that they do require a deposit of $50 to secure/confirm the appointment and the remaining balance is due after the service is complete. Pricing seemed somewhat reasonable: $195 for the inspection and sealing the perimeter and $275 for the inspection and removal of the snake. I am hoping the snake is gone, but I wouldn’t hesitate to call them again if he returned.

I contacted Joe about a bee issue and he made himself available the very next day, he also made arrangements based on my schedule. He treated my bee issue as well as sprayed around the entire house as a precaution for other insects/bugs. He was very nice and on time. His prices will beat any other exterminator service and the quality of his work is better. Last year I used Orkin for an issue and Joe by far was better than them. I would definitely reccomend him! Thanks Joe!

I would have picked all 5 options but wasn't able to. Very affordable, professional, and punctual. I sent my request on a Friday and he came out the very next day (in the rain) and removed not 1 but 2 hornet nests (he found the 2nd one). He was very proactive and sprayed all throughout the area to prevent them from nesting again!

Great company! The owner, Mike, responded to my request instantly and was at my house within 30 minutes of sending him my address even though it was late in the evening. When he arrived he was very professional, answered any questions I had, and was able to solve my problem with a bees nest right away. I would highly recommend D'tour Pest Defense to anyone looking for pest control, and will definitely be using them in the future for any of my needs.

Definitely professional, responsive with the service price lower than most places. Hard to evaluate the work quality as it has been only several hours after the hornet's nest removal, still waiting to see hornets to be completely gone

Could not be happier with the service we received. Sasa contacted me back immediately and was at my house the next day. He came back as soon as we were aware of a trap going off, came back to check days later and will be back after a month. He was efficiant and extremely cost effective. I highly recommend to anyone needing someone to do pest removal!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How much does it cost to treat a house for termites?

Termites are not only creepy-crawly, they can literally eat your house out from underneath you. Termites feed on damp and dry wood and can chomp through your house at an alarming rate. The national average pest control cost for termite extermination is $240-$400. Treatment costs can be higher for an extensive infestation. Here are some examples of average pest control costs for termites:

    • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: $3-$4 per linear foot.
      • For $75 per year, a company may offer a maintenance plan that provides inspection of the property and renewal of the warranty.
    • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: approximately $400 for a 2,000-square-foot home at $3-$5 per linear foot.
      • The price is higher for additional work such as foaming and drilling inside of concrete slabs.
    • Fumigation treatment of drywood termites: $1,200-$1,500 for a 30,000- to 35,000-cubic-foot home
      • Fumigation is measured in cubic feet because it fills the airspace of the home and infiltrates the wood that the termites may be colonizing. The cost of fumigation is affected by the number of levels in the home as well as the square footage.

How much does it cost to get rid of cockroaches?

Cockroaches are not only ugly, they are difficult to get rid of. Quick and resilient, they can be hard to get rid of without professional help once they have inhabited a house. Nationally, the average range for cockroach pest control cost is $80-$130. Extermination professionals typically provide a free estimate to determine the extent of the infestation. They’ll check for the main sources of the bugs, identify bug access and entry points into your home, and determine the best method for elimination. There are a variety of cockroach extermination tools including gel baits and traps, pesticide foggers, desiccants (which dry out the cockroaches), neurotoxins, and other pesticides. Pest control costs can also cover preventive measures like regular spraying and trap maintenance. Some regions of the country are much more prone to cockroach problems than others, so pest control costs may need to be part of your quarterly budget. Cockroaches love dark, humid, and warm areas and water sources, so place traps near your washer and dryer and under your sinks.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

    • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
      • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
    • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.

How much does it cost to get a pest inspection?

In general there is no cost for a pest inspection. Exterminators typically provide a free property or building inspection and then provide you with a written estimate outlining the necessary treatment and cost. The home visit allows the exterminator to assess the problem and let you know what your pest control cost will be if you contract with their services. You may need a termite inspection for real estate purposes. This will be a verified inspection showing that the house in question is termite-free (often done before a sale). The inspection may cost a flat rate, such as $125-$150, depending on house size.

It’s hard to predict pest control costs sight unseen due to the variety of factors that go into pest treatment. For example, a bedbug problem for one customer may be confined to one room and be easy to access and treat in one visit if the room is clear of clutter and the bedbugs have been caught early. In another home, a bedbug problem may also be confined to one room, but there’s a great deal of clutter, providing more hiding places for the bugs and requiring more spray and labor for the exterminator, as well as many pieces of large furniture in the room that need to sprayed. Depending on the maturity of the infestation, a bedbug problem may require multiple visits to entirely eliminate. This is why many companies provide a free inspection to determine pest control costs and provide you the most accurate quote possible.
