About this pro

How does your service stand out?

I personally am an NASM certified personal trainer and corrective exercise specialist. All of the trainers in CASS Fitness have an accredited certification. We go above and beyond the hour or half hour session. We provide an interactive online program detailing your workouts and progress. The online program is also useful to help schedule workouts for you on your days you are training on your own. We are always available for additional questions you may have at any time. We also keep up with the latest information on various health and fitness publications. I personally specialize in weight loss and building strength since I went through my own transformations. I also train endurance athletes in helping to strengthen their muscles to help them perform at their peak and to reduce the risk of injury in sports where injuries can be quite common. I ran cross-country and distance track. We also have trainers who specialize in football specific training, aerobics, bodybuilding, and more. We also do not use gimmicks. (No Shake Weights, no Ab Belts, no balancing on a Bosu Ball training 3 lb weight for half of your session. There is no substitute for hard work! For weight loss we want you to stay in your optimal fat burning zone for the majority of your workout (70-80% of your maximal heart rate). We use a combination of HIIT Workouts (featuring running, battle ropes and/or plyometrics just for a few examples), circuit resistance training with dumbbells, barbells, resistance bands, and your own bodyweight. I am also an advocate of the tried and true basic exercises for strength training and an aid for weight loss if you have no injuries: (Squats, Deadlifts, Bench Press, Barbell Row, Pull-Up, Dip, and the Push-Up. All exercises can be modified to your ability.). While we will push you to your full potential, we are always careful if you have an injury, and we emphasize proper form.

What do you enjoy about the work you do?

I like seeing the transformation of a client from when they first started with me to where they are at today. Seeing personal triumphs from clients such as losing a certain amount of pounds and/or body fat, lifting a certain amount of weight, fitting into a dream outfit, getting a PR in a race, being able to recover from a past injury quicker, etc.

    Nice and detailed
Great communicator, detailed in his explanation of what to expect. He is friendly and made himself available for my last minute question. He was not pushy which was a plus.

A good start in reaching my fitness goals
I hired a personal trainer for five weeks. She was knowledgeable, pleasant, and showed me how to use the weight machines and also gave some good advice on loosing weight quickly. However, she was often distracted by her fitness app, and during those times was not attentive to what I was doing. Although not her style, I would have preferred to have a more upbeat trainer that really motivated me to push my limits instead of just standing there watching me do repetitions.

Working with Cass Fitness, and Samantha in particular, has been a wonderful experience so far. Samantha has been on point with her professional demeanor. She is timely and organized, and most importantly, fun to work with. I have only had about two weeks of lessons and can already see some incremental results.

Matt was fantastic! I got my boyfriend three sessions as a birthday gift and Matt was so great that he bought another 25 sessions with him. I highly recommend Cass Fitness!

I went through the process of reaching out 6 different personal trainers, and ultimately selected Cass Fitness because of their responsiveness, value, the fact that they come to my building's gym, and how much I enjoyed my first session. I'm only two workouts into my relationship with Cass Fitness, but I would highly recommend them so far.

Matt is an excellent trainer. He lives, breathes, and eats fitness, which is hugely motivating for his clients. Working out with Matt is never dull, because he’s great about not repeating the same workouts each session. He also does a good job of explaining why he has you do certain exercises and has a good eye for proper form and execution. I also think Matt is a great conversationalist and so keeps your mind occupied on an entertaining story rather than the pain! And he definitely will not let you get away with anything that keeps you from achieving your fitness goals. Training with Matt may be the best investment you can make in yourself and I highly recommend working with him.

I trained with Matt for my first “personal training” experience. I went in knowing what I wanted to improve and work on, also hoping to get a better understanding of my body and how I can improve my lifestyle to make it a bit healthier. I was a bit nervous since I wasn't sure what to expect. I was thinking the worse like: he was going to be really hard and tough on me, make me feel anxious or awkward, or even not feeling comfortable at all. That was not the case! He was great! He has a wonderful character and is super nice. I felt very comfortable during the session which was one of the most important things for me. I can tell he knows exactly what he doing and is very knowledgeable which made me feel like I was in the right hands. Fitness seems like his passion and he keeps up on the latest nutritional research and news. He is also very aware of my goals which we are strongly working on, my habits, metabolic type, and physical abilities. Why did I wait so long to meet him and start training? It is so much more beneficial than going to the gym and doing the same old work out each time. He provides different techniques and settings each time which I loved! Really great investment-not just to improve your lifestyle and physique, but to also gain a great friend in the process!

Matthew Bible has helped me immensely in my efforts to be more physically fit. Over a six month period working with Matthew I have been able to see increases in all my personal records. Some of my measurable gains include increasing my bench press maximum from 205lbs to 315lbs; I can run a 5k in 25 minutes, which is down from 37 minutes and I have gained muscle, but lost 10lbs! His workouts are not limited to the standard gym norms, a fact that I both love and hate! We do varying styles of planks, pull-ups, floor bridges, push-ups, and some exercises that can only be shown and not explained, these creative exercises are odd but I cannot argue with the results! Matthew is there working with you every step of the way and making sure that not only are you doing the exercises to your full potential, but that you are also doing them correctly. I highly recommend Matthew as a friend and a personal trainer!

I've always had trouble getting motivated to workout. I called upon Matt to help me get back into shape after noticing that I was gaining weight and lost all motivation to go to the gym. From day one Matt brought a spark back to my workouts and I've completely seen the results in just a month of being trained by him. He is well educated in health and fitness and if I have any questions, he is right there to help guide me in the right direction. I am happy that I found not only a great fitness instructor but a good friend as well.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Our typical process is interacting with a new customer either here on Thumbtack or our other methods of advertising. We then set up a time to call the customer. We set up a free assessment for the client to get a great idea of how we will program their workouts along with making sure the customer is a good fit with the trainer. We send a new client questionnaire to get a better idea of their goals, lifestyle, dietary habits, injury history, etc.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I study at least one hour every day through fitness books, journals, blogs, research on common topics further than my certification book dove into.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your service? If so, please share the details here.
Here are the standard 1 hour session prices: 1 session - $60 5 sessions - $275 10 sessions - $500 25 sessions - $1125 If additional people (couples, friends, small groups of 3-4)want to workout in the same session, just add $15 per person to the price.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
A lot of personal reasons made the decision for me. I went through my own fitness journey eight years ago. I was overweight due to poor diet and lack of exercise. I lost 50 pounds and I have kept it off ever since, even with gaining a lot of muscle in the process. Another reason was seeing family members suffer with preventable diseases. I saw my grandfather suffer with diabetes for years, leading him to eventually pull the plug on kidney dialysis. I never want to go through that kind of pain and I do not want anybody else to either. I have had an interest in fitness and personal training for a long time, but my unhappiness in all of my corporate jobs also had a role to play. I wake up very early every morning to train and it never feels like a chore. Personal training is the first career I have ever had that I truly love.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Most of my customers have weight loss and/or fat loss goals along with gaining strength. I work with people building muscle and gaining the proper weight. I train a few endurance athletes with my distance running background. I work with clients who have injuries in the lower back, shoulders, knees, etc. My focus with them is to still help them reach their goals, but to also play in a role in helping to lessen the pain in their injuries. Our trainer Deonte Toliver works with all of the above, and has physical therapy experience as well. He also works with football players. Our trainer, Samantha Bowman works with weight loss, strength, and bodybuilding clients as she is a competing bodybuilder herself. Our trainer, Enitan Falana works with weight loss and strength training clients, and he is excellent with yoga and flexibility as well.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
I want them to know that most of my workouts are tough, but I put myself through tough workouts almost every day as well. However, there are some workouts that are set up for strengthening purposes of certain muscle groups. I want to correct muscular imbalances, not enhance them. I do this profession out of love for health and fitness, along with the motivation to help change lives.
